A Politically Correct Christmas Poem

Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...

How to live in a world that's politically correct?

His workers no longer would answer to "Elves",

"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.

And labor conditions at the North Pole,

were alleged by the union, to stifle the soul.

Four reindeer had vanished without much propriety,

released to the wilds, by the Humane Society.

And equal employment had made it quite clear,

that Santa had better not use just reindeer.

So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,

were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

The runners had been removed from his beautiful sleigh,

because the ruts were deemed dangerous by the EPA,

And millions of people were calling the Cops,

when they heard sled noises upon their roof tops.

Second-hand smoke from his pipe, had his workers quite frightened,

and his fur trimmed red suit was called "unenlightened".

To show you the strangeness of today's ebbs and flows,

Rudolph was suing over unauthorized use of his nose.

He went to Geraldo, in front of the Nation,

demanding millions in over-due workers compensation.

So...half of the reindeer were gone, and his wife

who suddenly said she'd had enough of this life,

joined a self help group, packed and left in a whiz,

demanding from now on that her title was Ms.

And as for gifts...why, he'd never had the notion

that making a choice could cause such commotion.

Nothing of leather, nothing of fur...

Which meant nothing for him or nothing for her.

Nothing to aim, Nothing to shoot,

Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.

Nothing for just girls and nothing for just boys.

Nothing that claimed to be gender specific,

Nothing that's warlike or non-pacifistic.

No candy or sweets...they were bad for the tooth.

Nothing that seemed to embellish upon the truth.

And fairy tales...while not yet forbidden,

were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden,

for they raised the hackles of those psychological,

who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.

No baseball, no football...someone might get hurt,

besides - playing sports exposed kids to dirt.

Dolls were said to be sexist and should be passe.

and Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.

So Santa just stood there, disheveled and perplexed,

he just couldn't figure out what to do next?

He tried to be merry he tried to be gay,

but you must have to be careful with that word today

His sack was quite empty, it was flat on the ground,

nothing fully acceptable was anywhere to be found.

Something special was needed, a gift that he might,

give to us all, without angering the left or the right.

A gift that would satisfy - with no indecision,

each group of people in every religion.

Every race, every hue,

everyone, everywhere...even you!

So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...

American Jewish Congress Says Passage of H Res 579 Undermines Americans' Religious Liberty

12/16/2005 7:09:00 AM

To: National Desk

Contact: Juda Engelmayer of American Jewish Congress, 212-360-1550 or 917-733-3561; Web: http://www.ajcongress.org

NEW YORK, Dec. 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The American Jewish Congress issued the following statement challenging House Resolution 579 which the Congress of the United States passed yesterday by a vote of 401-22. This resolution rebuffs alleged "attempts to ban mention of Christmas," and expresses support for and "recognizes the importance of the symbols and traditions of Christmas."

Neil B. Goldstein, American Jewish Congress executive director, stated:

"To understand the pernicious nature of this resolution one must first understand that no such ban or attempted ban against Christmas exists. Rather, what occurs each Christmas is that individual merchants exercise their own independent commercial, religious and personal judgments about whether they will celebrate or observe Christmas. Christians have the right as consumers to patronize or refuse to patronize stores that observe or decline to observe Christmas, display Christian symbols, follow Christmas traditions and that celebrate the religious aspects of the holiday. Merchants have a right to decide how to respond to such consumer preferences. But, government has no business getting into the middle. Those who wish to marshal the power of government to tip the balance in favor of one side or the other do so in blatant disregard of our nation's long established tradition of religious liberty. Government has no place establishing a set of favored religious symbols and traditions at the expense of other Americans."

The American Jewish Congress is a membership association of Jewish Americans, organized to defend Jewish interests at home and abroad, through public policy advocacy, in the courts, Congress, the executive branch and state and local governments. It also works overseas with others who are similarly engaged.

Last week, the House actually voted 401 to 22 to respect the traditions of Christmas. That's a good thing. Well, that's angered the SP [secular progressive] press, which has attacked me with glee.

The latest is New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, who writes, "Let us all pray for Bill O'Reilly. Let us pray that Mr. O'Reilly will understand that the Christmas spirit isn't about hectoring people to say 'Merry Christmas,' rather than 'Happy Holidays,' but about helping the needy.

The majority of mainstream media tilts to the left... that according to a revised study by UCLA, set for publication next week. Among the findings: The Wall Street Journal, despite its conservative opinion pages, is the most liberal outlet, followed by CBS' Evening News, The New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times.

In fact, of the 20 major media outlets studied, 18 of them scored left-of-center. Programs ranked among the most centrist news shows include The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and ABC's Good Morning America.

The study examines U.S. media coverage over the last 10 years, comparing individual news outlets with individual lawmakers. Lawmakers were scored on the basis of votes and speeches, while media organizations were scored on their references to think tanks and policy groups.

Nearly as many wealthy people died in New Orleans in the wake of Hurrican Katrina, as did poor people, according to an analysis by the Los Angeles Times. While many of the bodies remain unidentified, findings show that of the 528 bodies recovered from identifiable addresses throughout the city, 230 came from middle and upper class neighborhoods the city's poorer areas accounted for 298 bodies. The analysis discounts claims that low-income residents were hit hardest by the hurricane.

Research conducted by Tulane University geographer Richard Campanella, who is quoted by the Times, suggests that New Orleans' predominantly white districts were just as vulnerable as predominantly black districts. A spokesman for the Louisiana Population Data Center associates Katrina's widespread effects with the city's diversity.

Let us all pray for Bill O'Reilly

This, in O'Reilly fevered brain, constitutes an "attack." 'Nuff said.

If you were not so dishonest you would ahve pointed to the rest of Kristof's attack: He followed the above with:

Let us pray that Mr. O'Reilly will understand that the Christmas spirit isn't about hectoring people to say 'Merry Christmas,' rather than 'Happy Holidays,' but about helping the needy.

Let's pray that Mr. O'Reilly and other money-changers in the temple will donate the funds they raise exploiting Christmas — covering the nonexistent 'War on Christmas' rakes in viewers and advertising — to feed the hungry and house the homeless."

and then there was this:

Kristof then goes completely off the rails, writing, "Perhaps I'm particularly sensitive to religious hypocrites because I've spent a chunk of time abroad watching Muslim versions of Mr. O'Reilly — demagogic table-thumpers who exploit public religiosity as a cynical ploy to gain attention and money."

And then O'Reilly was charitable to his attacker:

The shame is that Kristoff has done good work on Darfur and human trafficking, but he's a committed secularist and is seemingly happy to write distortions all day long.

Maybe. But they had sympathy with the pathological philosophy.

There are a LOT of Lawyers who are unfit for their jobs, one right here in fact.
Since you don't know exactly what my field is you wouldn't know if I was fit or not.

I've seen Gibson's act, jethro. I've seen his horror stories shown to be untrue, and I've seen him keep telling them. He's a liar selling a book of lies.

Now please, tell me, when retailers this year had their christmas merchandise on the shelves before halloween, when several radio stations in every major market are playing christmas carols 24/7 and have been since the first of the month, when christmas-related stuff is on exhibit everywhere, how can any person with two brain cells to rub together claim that there is a war being waged against christmas?

Driving through Sioux City today, we saw simple and elaborate displays of both secular and religious christmas symbols in yards, on houses and in stores and malls. There is no sign of IEDs or car bombs being used against such displays, and I haven't heard of such on the news. Where is this war?

I have no right to rub you the wrong way? You have got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!! I should be the good, little, lockstep, PC, liberal like yourself? Get a thicker skin, little boy.

Fold is about as disabled as you or I. My back hurts everyday too. The difference is that I refuse to let someone else support me. He seems to relish in it.

You tell me that what people do with their personal lives is none of my business. Four posts later you tell JT it's none of YOUR business. WTF! Can't you keep anything straight? Or his hypocrisy your strong suit?
