Have grandkids over tonight. I got to see them at MOA after work today and they'll be here later tonight when they are done. Sorry bout your bad day. Hope it gets better!
By special request, here is the information on the next 24 hour hunt. I suppose for now this is as good of a thread to post it as any.
First off we have confirmed the date and it will actually be Saturday, September 13th. We decided to bump it back to September so as to try and engage more college students in the game. That way we're also not competing with the Olympics, the State Fair, or the summer heat.
At this point I am 90% sure we're going to have a kickoff breakfast at 10am and start the actual hunt at 11am. Breakfast will be included in the admission price for 5 team members. You will then have 24 hours to finish the race.
This time around there will be more of a story element involved and it will almost be like a murder mystery. The leader of the Mason Lodge has been killed and with his death the passcode to the Lodge's secrets has been lost. The police have captured the killer and his accomplices, but they lack evidence and will have to release them in 24 hours. They may have gotten the passcode before killing the Master and so the passcode must be found before the killers are released. The Masons believe the Master knew he was in danger and before he was killed, he left clues behind. The Masons have assembled all these clues, but have not been able to make progress quickly enough in figuring them out. In desperation the Lodge has put up a $500 reward for anyone who can help them rediscover the passcode and retrieve their secret documents.
This time around there will be only 8 puzzles, but they will be tricky. Solving each puzzle will lead you to a location where a piece of the final puzzle lies. Once those pieces are all assembled, it will give you the passcode which you must then take back to the Mason Lodge before 11am Sunday to unlock the vault. But even then, there may be one more test awaiting you.
A $300 prize will go to the team that is the first one to actually retrieve the documents. Additionally, at each of the 8 locations there will be an item that may be retrieved by the first team to get there and teams will get a $25 prize for each of those items they have.
Again the price will be $100 per team. Each team can have up to 5 official members. You can have additional members if you really want, but only 5 people can come to the breakfast and the more people you have on your team, the more you may have to split the prize money. But otherwise there's no rule against seeking outside help if you can find it.
I really would have no way of knowing who retrieves the various pieces of the puzzle, but it would have to be an official member who turns them in, and only official members will be allowed in at the endgame.
Found out yesterday another one of my neighbors is moving out this week, and some new ones moving into one of the empty places. Hard to keep track of anyone in our town home development - we've been there 7 years - I guess that makes us the veterans now.
The neighbors sold their place for a nice sum in less than 3 weeks. We've got the same sized place, so I'm not so pessimistic. --> We needed a motivator to get our remodeling done; New countertops, some paint, new dishwasher & fridge, tile the fireplace, etc...
The only thing I cannot remodel (that really needs it) is new shingles for the roof. That is the associations' responsibility - hopefully by now, I've been put on their "Squeaky Wheel" list to get those shingles replaced.
So I've recently gotten into woodworking, because of a book someone gave me, and I'm utterly hooked. But I can't afford the oodles of tools to do cool stuff. So - if anybody has woodworking stuff they're trying to get rid of, or knows someone who is, can you let me know? I'll give it a couple of weeks before I hire Nick and give him a shopping list. :goofy:
Is anyone else getting repeated calls from 1-866-841-7507???
I can tell from googling it that it is a nuisance call, at best.
The calls started a week or so ago, occuring about once a day.
Today they have called here four times - three times in the past hour.
I called my phone service provider and they gave me a phone number to report this to: 1-800-348-8727, but they are closed until tomorrow.
I don't answer when they call. When it rolls to the machine they hang up. Apparently people who pick up the phone when this number calls - there is no one on the other end.
Just pisses me off to run to the phone for nothing.
No big deal, I'm not doing anything with the space and happy to help a cooler out. People here'd do it for me.
Anyone interested in coming over for a bonfire tonight?
Also: Anybody have a scroll saw they want to get rid of?

I also have 2 speaker cabs made out of mahogany you can have for the wood if you want it. You can see one of the cabinets in the background.
