Thanks OT :)

Nights are a good way to go.... even though it messes with my time clock I get time to do more.

I wouldn't mind that. I'm actually more of a night person.

Me too. My favorite work shift ever was the 5pm-1am. I'd stay up until dawn or close to it, sleep until noon, get up and enjoy the afternoon then head to work. This getting up and heading straight to work stuff is for the birds.

Ditto on all accounts except I work from 2-10.  It gives me a few hours to go out if I want to.  A few times a week I wake up with the kid and only get 3 hours of sleep but that seems to be OK since I get a second wind once it's time for work.  I usually don't have to wait for anything during the day.  It's way easy to get errands done.  The traffic is usually OK as well.  I'd hate to see how long my commute would be if it was in the morning.  Crossing both entire cities!  No thanks!

Cool, but I'll enjoy other people's displays :)

holy crap man, thats alotta lights..

I was just at my moms on sunday, and she had "most" of her decorations up.... most of which are indoors, and a few outside, she said that what she had done took her atleast 7 hours to do, and that she figures she's got probably another 8 hours worth of stuff to do, just to decorate the tree...

they've got this huge ass fake tree... it was the biggest one they could find at Target when I worked there a few years back.... i think its like 14 or 15 feet high... damn its big.

Here's a picture following the earlier video I posted of my bro on the morning news regarding his lights.  They were cool to us and let us wonder around the studio by ourselves for 30 minutes taking all kinds of pictures.  I don't see that happening nowadays.

The neighbor put up lights on their house that formed an arrow pointing next door to the house decked out, and that's all they had for decorations. Just an arrow pointing next door.

It was funny as hell. I wish I had gotten a picture of it.

we live right under what will be the flight path for the north-south runway (whenever it ends up finally opening), albeit about 8 miles out. my goal is to eventually get to a point where the faa ends up calling me telling me to turn off my lights if i don't want a plane in my back yard :)

and i just finished putting in the 100a sub panel in the garage to do it too. ought to be worth close to a half million miniature lights :)

go big or stay home, baby!

Wow cool link CM! You must be an expert then huh? My tool for getting up into the trees is a broom. Works great.

my icicle lights have blown a fuse

Mine did that last year. The trick is not to plug so many strings together. Problem is that you have more electrical cords then.

Don't you hate that! And it seems you never get home from work in time for daylight at this time of year.

I see it every morning just as I pull into my driveway. (unless i'm drafted to stay overtime)

what is the adress to your site?

LOOK for the elves here under "blowmold's"

Thanks Kitch! I'm having trouble with the site loading right now, but the exact "elf" is shown on the 1st link under 'blowmolds' in the catagory of St Patricks day. I'll try again later when it's not so busy. Cool links. :)

my plan is to pull the soffits down from the house this summer and put in outlets up there every 15 feet or so, and wire it into the afore mentioned 100a subpanel.

that oughtta do it!

that's the thinking. only bad thing is that i should have used bigger conduit in case i ever need to "expand" beyond that :)

I wonder if the rain/snow had something to do with it. They were on for a couple days with no issue, then it rained and I came home to find the lights went out.

Oh CM, there is no need to waste your time with that...

We all know you are the biggest loser. (come on, that one was slow pitch softball lobbed up to me, I had to take a swing)

Sometimes I am ashamed to be American, and when a show such as "the biggest loser" gets brought back for a second run, that is one of those times.

Come on, who doesn't like watching fat people jogging and exercising?  Where else are you ever gonna see that? I felt that the show was truly inspirational while watched it scarfing down 4 bowls of Fruity Pebbles and 1/2 case Ice House, all the time saying "I could do that". I might just go down there and heckle people for the hell of it.   ;-)

I wonder if the rain/snow had something to do with it. They were on for a couple days with no issue, then it rained and I came home to find the lights went out.

the temperature may also have something to do with it. my uncle used to do a massive yard lighting at their house before they moved to california. turns out the only way he could do it was to take the cover off of the electrical panel and turn a fan on it to keep the breakers cool. i do not advise doing this, however, because the way breakers (and fuses) detect overcurrent conditions is from the heat generated by the contact device. if you unnaturally keep it cool, you're shoving more current through it than the wiring was designed to handle.

* BRADLEY AMUNDSON FAMILY CAMP PIER @ Many Point Scout Camp.

As has been previously reported, Bradley Amundson, 16, of Champlin,

Minnesota tragically drowned at Family Camp at Many Point on August

21, 2004 while closing camp for the season.  Many Point has decided

to erect a permanent fishing pier in his honor at Family Camp in

his memory.  Brad's family approves, and feels it is appropriate

since in addition to  working at Family Camp, Brad's family had

been staying there each summer since Brad was four.

The pier will cost $15,000.  The Alumni Association hopes to be

able to contribute $5000 of that.  If you would like to help erect

the Bradley J. Amundson Memorial Pier, send your check, payable to

the MPSAA and "Fishing Pier" in the memo field to:

MPSAA, c/o Curt Cheese

2501 Buchanan St

Mpls, MN  55418-3821

Your contributions are tax-deductible.

*thanks for letting me post this here.

(and fuses)

Just to clarify, I think it was one of those teeny weeny fuses in the cord. No power was lost to the house and there's no breakers that tripped in my breaker box.

hey now. i knew what he was talking about. the same heat principles apply to those fuses as apply to the breakers or fuses in your panel. dissipate the heat faster than it can build up, and you can pull more current through it.

Medallion Finders Stories

http://www.citypages.com/databank/25/1253/article12752.asp

Some noted quotes:

It fell down on the street. And this woman came running and she picked it up and she hollered, "Ooh! I found it! I found it!" And these people came running, and I was like, "How am I going to get it back from her?" because she had it.

A couple of people jumped on my back, but I was 21 years old and I just got up and ran.

So I went over to get the check, and they said I hadn't registered on time. Evidently, it was a day late, so that mistake cost me $1,500.

We'd looked since the first one. I'm 74: I've been a hunter for a long time.

At first, my husband would wait up for me. Pretty soon, as we were married longer, he'd just say, "See you in 10 days

well, its 30 degrees outside. you really don't need one. if someone were to blow a fuse that was already cold, there's definitely too much power going through it :)
