The MNHS people are conceited and all the good stuff is kept in archives that will NEVER see daylight!

I have boxes full of old photos and post cards. I don't know what to do with them or when I'll even have time to look through them. Maybe when I'm laid off I'll get time. I'll keep that in mind Me2.

Thanks for the email. I just looked at your art a little closer...and it
 resembles a guy we are representing right now. Thought you might like to see
 some of his work. I would say that your style is very marketable but at this
 time we would not be able to represent you.

Couple things you will have to do is basically do all new illustrations. You
 probably will not be able to use any of your school projects to market
 yourself. I would focus on doing just the artwork with out any type or ads
 to go along with them. You could salvage some of your best pieces but take
 out the ad stuff. Example: Harley Davidson - If you notice Mike's
 work....it's just art. If you have copy and ad stuff on them...it looks like
 work from school. You want to show the client that you have been doing this
 a long time....know what I mean? Even if you haven't been.

I would say you should do at least one new sample a day. That way - in
 90-days you will have a bunch of new work to show. It could be as little as
 a strawberry or two.....to a pile of grapes. Just as long as your doing
 something everyday to build your portfolio. I would also suggest doing
 animals- such as monkey's, dogs...cats etc. let your imagination run wild.

Food, animals and product are big money makers. Products such as new
 technology....i pods, new I mac G5's, cell phones - Like the new razor from
 Cingular. Check that bad ass cell phone out...nice!!!

Another idea.... do some baby toys or illustrate your 3 month old. The work
 that you are showing now is kind of dark and scary. Most art directors want
 fun, bright colors. Not all, but most! if you do 90 pieces in 90 days you
 will know your style when you are finished....then you can take 90 days off
 if you want. Those are a few of my suggestions. Hope they help!! not trying
 to be a tough guy...but if you want to succeed you are going to have to work
 really hard!

I would make a list of 90 things...and check them off as you get them done.
 You can do 2-3 in a day.

We can still meet up next Wednesday if you want but I would rather meet with
 you in 90 days to see where you are at. When we meet we could brain storm
 how to get some work and I could give you a couple different people to talk
 with. Most of the artists right now have day jobs...and do illustrations for
 us on the side. So it is really tough to make it.....so you have to work
 really hard!
