The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.
The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...
Holly Wood
In the last 10 years, the wrapper has been disclosed by clue #10 every year...(though IMHO, the wrapper clue is a complete waste...picture this...I unearth a snack-size chip bag and say "oh, i'll throw this away - no wrapper clue reference")...how about Clue 7: "Here's a CLUE to AID your decision" referring to KOOL-AID....i.e. CLUE-AID >>> KOOL-AID... a Kool-Aid package?
Hey Ian, you dumb bastard, why in the hell would I make this up? And I am not going to give out my real e-mail address. If you would have been in line instead of sitting your ass behind your monitor, you would have seen it also. BTW, Jim Walsh was also there interviewing people in line and he also witnessed this man. Ian, when
in doubt, it's best to remain silent and be thought of as a fool, than to
Hollywood - We agree. Like if you come across something in the snow other than snow or ice, your gonna just toss it aside. Come on! As far as we're concerned, the clue telling you what the med is in is worthless because your gonna rip through anything that looks suspiscous!!
Mike, it comes out at the Pioneer Press at 11:00. Last night it came out at about 11:20 because of the little incident. It comes out on the internet at 11:30
Yo, Mr. John Warling, get a life please. You don't have to keep posting shit over and over. I think she gets the point.
Anybody going to CP at 11:30 and want to join forces??? I (30 year old male) will be there with a green parka, flashlight with orange filter and quality icepick and spade for awhile after work and for sure at 11:45...
Hint: If you don't want to dig and you don't mind carring a little extra weight. A quick way to "dig" in some spots, is to bring 2-3 gallons of water and a watering can (flower waterer with wide spout) just pour water over snow and presto-chango no more snow. I know this sounds wierd and gruelling to carry that much water, but trust me it works and you don't have to sift through all the snow chunks to make sure you didn't overlook anything. Run out of water make a quick drive to SA and fill up at the bathroom.
Why does everyone just jump on w/o reading prior posts and then waste our time asking and reasking questions that were just covered? Spend a couple of minutes reading through the past 30 or so posts and then you will get a clue as to what is going on!
ck1 - go back about 2 pages-- aries, leave john alone-- he's a rookie, but at least he's giving it a whirl!!! hollywood-- why so late?? ill be out at 6:30 or so-- i forgot my flashlight last night, but tonight ive go the SPOT LIGHT FOR TONITE!!! LOOK FOR THE BRIGHT ONE!!!
Deb - I'll watch for the spotlight (I saw a few coleman lanterns last night, wish I had one...) I want to see the next clue at 11:30, I will wait for a phone message at the Cherokee Sirloin Room and then head over... may have the steak sandwich too!
Chasing: I went on my lunch hour - there were a BUNCH of people there, I guess 200? And the mailman saw me wondering around in a daze mumbling "Aspie... cape, whip, hip..." over and over and just laughed at me!!! I had to laugh too!!! I'm mumbling all the clues to myself at work at my desk, in the elevator... in line for lunch!!!
Hi, Sisters!!! An idea came up earlier today: Wonder of PP would allow the Way Cool Cooler Clan to walk in the parade this weekend and like wear armbands or something so we all look alike... Isn't that a neat idea??? Wish they would let us.
Anyay, I think itsa's got it. Please open your minds and go find the Med and put me outta my misery!!!
#4 has TWO domes (demo AND mode) and I believe "mother lode" is the Cathedral as it's roof is copper which is an ore = mining = lode. One of the domes is the Capital.
#5 "We'd be the first (First Bank, maybe even for the *second* time) to say that a place to play can make any winter more pleasureable." This referrs to the *second* dome in #4 - Civic Center.
#6 referrs to the NSP stack and, *again* the Civic Center: "soon be back" as the new hockey team will be homed there when the NHL comes "back" to MN.
#10 I think Itsa's got: The guy atop the Capital, who's "keeping up the pace and winning the race (chariot)" in cape and whip is definiately attired in such a away as to be innappropriate - at least for winter!!! And, it's a good "tip" not to dress that way in winter as you'll freeze your patoots off!!!! And.... He's at the top of a spire... Or if you don't like that spire, pick any other one you see from this area!!! Doesn't matter!!! LOL!!!!
Also, another "line of double division" is the High Bridge. It cuts the river in 1/2 and is divided into two lanes of traffic.
I'm now unstuck from my Band-aid theory <g>. "Aid" referrs to the 911 signs in the park; there's one rite by the area that you can see all the buildings from. And... I've given up on roses, rosebushes, horticulture, rosehips, Cape roses, whips (rose canes)!!!! I bow to The Sax Man - sled, sled and ONLY A DAMN SLED!!!!!! I'M SICK OF ROSES AND WILL NEVER GROW ANY!!!!
Just more ramblings (AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! "Rambling Rose!!!!") from a tired Way Cooler Clan member. Hail to Cooler Hand Luke!!!
Personally, I just hope they post what all the clues really mean after someone has found it. Then we can see if we read too far into the clues, or not far enough. By the way, Matt, actually I don't think you can see the Herberger's sign from Cherokee park - Herberger's is about 1-1/2 miles away from there. I used to work at the bottem of the hill, down by the river.
Considering how early Roses were in the clues. That would have been close enough to point the right direction. It just would have been real obscure. And that has been the case all along this year.
Deb - I saw a bonfire at 11:00 last night by the jungle gym with about 10 folks around it and even saw a flask or 2....maybe thats where "station wagon man" got his start!
I'm off now too...perhaps I'll run into some of you around Cherokee. I agree with everyone else, Greensleeves - nice job, that bit about the capital! Good luck to all...don't forget to mention the Cooler when you find the medallion!
Deb: They had a fire going when I was there on my lunch hour. It was nice - the wood smoke. Maybe I'll come down tonite and join my Way Cooler Clan fiends and bring some dogs. At least I can eat and keep warm.
The way to do "the" area: Get a BIG group of people and line them all up front to back, front to back. Then all start digging, throwing snow over right shoulder, and the line gradually moving to everybody's left. This will keep everyone from trampling down the snow.

Ok John, you can stop posting that I am sure Deb will get it!

Nut Goodies if your are there at night getting a paper.
WHy is everyone so crabby? THis is supposed to be fun isn't it???
Hollywood - We agree. Like if you come across something in the snow other than snow or ice, your gonna just toss it aside. Come on! As far as we're concerned, the clue telling you what the med is in is worthless because your gonna rip through anything that looks suspiscous!!
WHAT TIME DOES THE PAPER COME OUT?
JOHN W--- hit the recent button at the top of your page. Then you can reload without reposting the messge
Thanks for the advise. I was wondering way that message kept going up here.

Rose refers to the rose on the sign at Herberger's right by Cherokee. At least in my opinion.
That may be a bit of a stretch brother Matt but congrats - you had post #6000! ...
Gee, that's almost as good as a medallion... but not quite. :->

THE LIGHT WILL GUIDE YOU!!!! that is also true for the weenie roast at the "FOUNDATION"..
the clues answers are usually posted in the paper on the day after the medallion is found, all clues and all explanations

Considering how early Roses were in the clues. That would have been close enough to point the right direction. It just would have been real obscure. And that has been the case all along this year.
OK, there are three kinds of clues:
1. Helps locate the correct park.
2. Helps locate the correct site.
3. Tells what the medallion is found in.
I just think that since it was such an early clue, it could only be #1.
By the way, good thought on the capital statue, Greensleeves.
I hate obscurity!
Greenslvs2, hats off to you for your detective work, I'll be out there tonight.
oops---sorry for the studder-- actually i was so impressed i printed it twice--
Deb - I saw a bonfire at 11:00 last night by the jungle gym with about 10 folks around it and even saw a flask or 2....maybe thats where "station wagon man" got his start!
Gotta go, got up early to get to work early to get off early to beat the rush to Cherokee. Bye all, you're all the Cooler Water Cooler-ers.
I'm off now too...perhaps I'll run into some of you around Cherokee. I agree with everyone else, Greensleeves - nice job, that bit about the capital! Good luck to all...don't forget to mention the Cooler when you find the medallion!
Thanks, all. Just FIND IT!!!! I'm ssssoooo tired.
Deb: They had a fire going when I was there on my lunch hour. It was nice - the wood smoke. Maybe I'll come down tonite and join my Way Cooler Clan fiends and bring some dogs. At least I can eat and keep warm.

Did any check their butt yet?
I think todays clue is just another street name.if you rearrange
the words "cape" and "whip" you get Chippewa,a street that runs
through Cherokee.
Don't forget to wear your white bandanas with "WAY COOL" on them. I'm BACK!!!
Greenslvs thanks for the info!
I see sycho joe is back!!
Can I wear a bandana that says "Check your butt"?
