1998 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Hunt for the Pioneer Press medallion!

The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.

The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...

Chasing Amy

It can't be in a Altoids container because it's metal and that would be defeating the purpose of changing the medallion into plastic.

Ian, not necessarily. A lot of times the meaning in the early clues just gets you to the park. From reading past years clues and explanations, they often say that such-and-such is "in the area".

Do you think since everyone knows the medallion is plastic, that no one would use a metal detector... so they might put it in something metal this year without the same worry of someone finding it with a metal detector? Or is my brain frozen too?

Three 7's are desired in gambling, are they not? 777, the address of the bathrooms at Cherokee, might be what is being referred to when clue 1 says "lucky one".

I have the same problem looking over my shoulder to make sure no one sees what I am doing and trying to get caught up with everyone.

It was all nice reading until someone (and I won't say who) the last few messages...

I think that 'attire' is just a filler, and that you can pull cool whip (what it is attached from) or chippewa (from cape and whip).

In the past few years, on the clues, there usually were only one or two references in each clue.

Some one stated about the attitudes in the park! Well read how people are sounding on the Water Cooler. I think cape and whip is referring to a circus.

brian, that has been said many times by me, but the area is all dug over. The only thing I can think of if it's over there, is that its hidden on the sidewalk. If you saw someone digging that whole sidewalk, it was pocket.

I think the editor should take Joe off this chat room permanently! He has givin death threats, harrassments, and obscene language. Hey the editor already wrote to him once in an article, I say he gets the boot!

Sidewalk--Could the "crack our code" be referring to a sidewalk crack?

Aspire is an anagram too. Has anyone mentioned that??

Tue, 02/03/1998 - 1:52 PM Permalink

Catch 22

Didn't Joe M. threaten to blow up Cherokee last night. If I am not mistaken, threatening to damage property owned by the city or county or state or U.S. is a felony offense. Especially if the threat is made in a public forum such as this chat room!

JOHN, theres only one that i know of, now could we be looking for crossing signs (the yellow triangle signs) somewhere by there??? i dont know, but that is still getting far away from the double division unless that is referring to the bridges-- double dividing the river???? sounds like the best idea ive heard lately, plus its not as far to walk to, with all these crazy people out there id rather leave my car at home!!!

Is there a time limit from when it's found to when you turn it in? That if it's been found that party can't get the reward?

John-- excuse that last one... i meant high ground, right by the high bridge, annapolis is quite a few blocks away, but that just may have meant cherokee park. im out there at 6:30 or 7:00 tonite ill look for ya-- then we have to find the foundation and party!!!

Double divide could be referring to Ramsey and Dakota and the changing of streets from lilydale to W. Water Street.

The rules say you must turn in the medallion immediately when you find it. However, is someone has it and hasn't turned it in, how can you prove he didn't just find it and has been holding on to it?
