The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.
The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...
JJ
I was out until 2am last night at the "tip" of chair-a-key. The recommendation to stay away from Chippewa has me stumped. Not sure what to think about that. I think we have been given all the boundaries now and the next clue will hone in on a specific coordinate (ie. specfic cross street).
I agree fortunehunter..this water cooler is fun, better than working! It is nice to read the postings this morning from some lucid thinkers. Last night was a bit chaotic.
dug 100 feet last night at chip &char no sign of coin but things lead there ? ??we think if some fool fond it trun it in ground very dug up and hard place looks like a bomb was drop or some thing not so nice happen lets find it to day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
master j p: I was never in the Baker camp, but plenty of folks still buy it. I think "dough" simply meant money for that one. They're giving it away little by little this year.
I have to admit that I think the dough reference was just to rhyme with go. The meat of that clue was the double division (Annapolis). Also, the earlier the clue, the less important the street name, IMHO. They just give the park boundaries before giving away the name of the park.
JJ, unfortunatley, I think most people work days and so the digging gets crazy at night when people get off work. Also, the wee hours of the morning are popular right after the clue comes out at 11:30pm. I haven't braved that hour yet, but will be tempted tonight if the clue is any good.
Mike, cape and whip rearranged spells Chippewa, the street along the park border. Also, some think hip = cool + whip means it's in a Cool Whip container. I'm in that camp too. Although I think it's just taped to the lid. The whole container would be too big.
JJ: I wish I could be there, but school and work are keeping me away.
SueBee: I agree, I think Baker may be the North boundary of where to look, but for me, it's still a bit too far North.
A. Metal Detective: I hope not!!! When we were still at Mounds, there would be patches of dug up snow right in the middle of everything, we gave it the term "Random acts of Digging", unfortunately, by yesterday at Cherokee, we were committing them ourselves.
We thought yesterday we had it, at the top of the sliding hill, Wyoming St leads right into the park there (pointing the way), the pyramids peaking over the snow, depending on how tall you are, the smokestack and cathedral in view, Annapolis at the bottom of the hill, but alas there was no medallion for us. I don't know if my partner went back out last night, but I didn't get a call, and he obviously didn't go to 345 Cedar.
Can you see the bathroom roofs and the Catheral from the Cherokee St. side down near Annapolis? I've been a top of the sliding hill in that grove of trees the Greg mentioned fan so far.
Tony, I thought it was near that spot too, for the reasons you said, plus there was a "No Golfing" sign on a tree within sight. The place is too dug up. If its there, its pretty damn well trampled into the ground
Do you think it's possible somebody has it and hasn't turned it in? Or maybe it's just plain gone - has this ever happened? Maybe it's in a chunk of turned over snow, in which case it could have been turned over a few times, trampled on and what not.
think tonites clue better give a better idea of location than last nights did...i'm tired of creating "crop circles"....someone from out of town is going to think that aliens landed in the park.
A METAL : DID YOU SEE ALL DIGGING ALREADY DONE ALL OVER THE TOP OF THE HILL???? I THOUGHT I HAD IT TOO AND SPENT THE WHOLE AFTERNOON ON SUNDAY RIPPING UP THE TOP OF THE HILL WITH NO LUCK-- I STILL THINK ITS IN THE NORTH END-
Brian, someone earlier mentioned CP looks like Dawn of the Dead or the surface of the moon. Can you just imagine unsuspecting tourists looking for a view of the city stumbling upon all these people digging in a park? I'm laughing just thinking about it! :-)
I can't believe all of the "its been found" postings....why is that so funny on here? since its been found are we all supposed to stop talking? I can understand saying it out at the park, but not here. What a waste of time!!!
Has anyone thought of maybe another park. It was hidden in CP 5 years ago. Isn't that a bit to early to hid it there again. There is some clues that speak of other locations as well.
we were out unitl 2:30 am...then the brain froze and lost the trail. overheard grumblings that the lil puck had been found...would be a drag if someone found it and is hanging on to it. here's hoping tonight's clue will provide some insight...?!
there are two clues left. when you concider the size of the park that is plenty. the next clue will cut the park in half, and the last one will X marks the spot of the medallion.
all prevous clues were to get us thinking, excited, and to cherokee park. forget domes, pyramids, and smokestacks.
its needle in a haystack time. at this point, its dumb luck and/or hard work that will get you the medallion.
SueBee: I understand most people can't get out during the day, including me. I got the CP searcher update from my wife, she doesn't "work outside the home".

at park till about 3 am still pepole there
I just came back from tne park and there are still quite a few peoplw there. If it's not under the snow I can't imagine where it would be
its in snow probly lot ???
this all goes back to demo and mode and crack the code....
was on that point last night
yeah but see 5713--looks recent to me!!!
ok , now everyone i see is digging aroung trees, poles etc... they will put it in the middle of a field etc....
Mr. Know It All,you out there or what?
Would they put in the middle of a field?
Cherokee park update: 5, count em, 5 people searching the park at 10am.
It is funny how the search is so intense in the dark of night and the park is vacant in the light of day.
I have to admit that I think the dough reference was just to rhyme with go. The meat of that clue was the double division (Annapolis). Also, the earlier the clue, the less important the street name, IMHO. They just give the park boundaries before giving away the name of the park.
anybody get the cape and whip thing?

that's a pretty lame clue
Seems they often hide it in something white - a white mitten, white ear muffs, a snowball, a white bandaid container....
Mike, I dunno. I don't think it's too bad. It sure didn't help pinpoint the location though. I kind of like the cool whip thing.
JJ: I wish I could be there, but school and work are keeping me away.

Tony, yep. I've dug up a fair portion of that area myself, to no avail. Where is that darned little puck hiding??
demo of mode- crack our code-- motherlode = salt = morton st.
Do you think it's possible somebody has it and hasn't turned it in? Or maybe it's just plain gone - has this ever happened? Maybe it's in a chunk of turned over snow, in which case it could have been turned over a few times, trampled on and what not.
Dad & Kar, why do you think motherlode = salt?
motherlode = mineral = salt = morton salt?
Jenny, I think it's about 2.5 inches in diameter. It's a translucent blue plastic "puck-like" thing with Winter Carnival emblems embossed on it.

SUEBEE--HEY GIRL WELCOME BACK!!!
Brian, someone earlier mentioned CP looks like Dawn of the Dead or the surface of the moon. Can you just imagine unsuspecting tourists looking for a view of the city stumbling upon all these people digging in a park? I'm laughing just thinking about it! :-)
Deb, if I ever get out there again, I'm thinking of heading that way too. Gotta check all around, never know where that damn thing may be now...
Hey Deb, good to "see" you again. You're not the one in blaze orange are you?
isn't it illegal to dig in a puplic park? is it possible to count all of the traffic violations around CP?
Well, it's off to another meeting. Over lunch this time. I'll be back after 12:30 or so. Good luck everyone. happy hunting
I'm the one in blaze orange, camo flauge
Heh, I'll be the one in the green jacket, black wind pants, and brown gloves. Thats if I get out there again.
I can't believe all of the "its been found" postings....why is that so funny on here? since its been found are we all supposed to stop talking? I can understand saying it out at the park, but not here. What a waste of time!!!

Lori, have you been to cherokee park recently and matched up the clues?
we were out unitl 2:30 am...then the brain froze and lost the trail. overheard grumblings that the lil puck had been found...would be a drag if someone found it and is hanging on to it. here's hoping tonight's clue will provide some insight...?!
Best of luck, diggers!!!
Lori there was people still digging in Mounds Park at 11
:00 last night.
in my humble opinion

Does anyone no if there are Fur trees in the park?
