It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

To do this year after year and never let something slip. Is the writer human, or some kinda supercomputer?
There is quite a snowfall predicted, maybe 4-6". More to dig through.
If the clues were written before a realization was made later as to "why is it in Como when the city just updated the grounds?". Another set of clues could be used. Is the site watched prior to the clues coming out? just talking
Hey, fellow hunters. Just came back from buying a 99 Atlas. Had to check on a previous message about there being a Fairway, Maryland and a Green, Idaho. Proved that wrong. Needed a new atlas anyway. I typed this in a previous message. I talked to a lady at Mom last year. She said that only 2 people know where the medallion is hidden. Nobody else at Mom knows but them -- in case something happened to one of them the other would still know. Anyway, further talking to her the fact that the medallion does not have to be hidden before the first clue comes out. After all, she said, it's their game and they make up the rules. With a storm coming in tonight, it's definitely going to be a beast hunting out there!! I'm still leaning more toward Highland.
I remember last year's clues leading people to choose between Indian Mounds and Cherokee. It wasn't until the very last 2 clues, that they actually flat out told us Cherokee. After all, clues last year fit both IM and Cherokee. Double division, don't blow your stack, ... I think that's what they're trying to do now. Make us decide on two parks and then make a choice as to which one it is. Closer to the end, they will slap our hands and say "you fool, you should have been at ???? all along!" Thoughts...
Battle Creek park follows the creek from it origin all the way over by 3M over to the caves by Hwy 61 at Pig's Eye. It is huge, has many sledding trails, new cross country trails, and old downhill trail, and just about everything else except a golf course. One problem: medallion was there just a few years ago.
That might be true, however, at the end, they pretty much tell you. If course, they want us to ponder as to where they put it and in what if anything. Best thing is what we are doing, sharing ideas, driving to the parks and coming back and reporting to other hunters. I do agree with the rest of you that tonight's clue should give a better view of where to head to or maybe they'll tease us and not tell us anything but it's out there somewhere in St. Paul.
A lot of parks look like Newell. The PP didn't nail the park down until Butler & ???? were clued. It's usually several parks until the streets are clued.
Sorry Treasure Digger for making you buy a new almanac. I was the one who originally came up with the Fairway, Maryland idea. I got it off a map CD, but when I saw your post I double-checked it. Apparently I wasn't just searching cities, but rather cities/places and Fairway was a "place" in Maryland, but not a city, whatever that means. The same is probably true for Idaho if you couldn't find it. Again I apologize, but its a new program I'm not used to yet. I still think its Phalen though.

At Battle Creek, a brand new x-country ski trail was completed, complete with lights at night until nine.

Is Battle Creek a big park?
I have a funny feeling that clue #1 is telling more than what we think. What is green, caught, scene leading too?
It might not be saying that much though (#1) and it might just be acting as a warning.

They do not even have us down to two parks they still have us contemplating many parks. It doesn't always come down to just 2.

Last year in clue 2, all they told us was water and woods which could have been any park
Cory is there a Ski Jump there and if so where?

Although not in the park itself, a ski jump is visible, at the intersection of I494 and Carver Road in Maplewood.
Has it ever been hidden plain(not in something)?
Thanks for that info Cory.
FROM THE CLUES SO FAR IT COULD BE IN MY BACK YARD
In 1990 it was in a dirt clump,1981 leaf clump.
The jump has not been used for many years, but used to be used almost eavery year for the carnival back in the 60s and 70s.
FROM THE CLUES SO FAR IT COULD BE IN MY BACK YARD
B-15 The medallion has been attached to trees, benches, tables etc. Eight inches of ice at the fairgrounds in '67.
