It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
Step
Allison--Is that your Fairway, Green theory you are talking about?
I'd say take Como off the list. It was used too recently and the fact that they have that snow slide already taking place won't encourage them hiding it there. The last thing they probably want is some money hungry idiot going into the park in the middle of the night and digging up the slide thinking the medallion is inside. Remember people were crazy enough to dig up the mounds at mounds park.
So the golf course reference means to stay clear of that area. Then, why post it in a clue unless there is a course near by or connected to the park it's hidden in.
Hey! Maybe we're supposed to "boot" up - and the treasure is posted on a website! I've heard of treasure hunts where they do that, and the finder has to come back to the main board and post the URL. I know someone who won a very nice prize that way!!!
I have to believe that the medallion has been hidden for several weeks. The weather has been good this year to hide it early so the snow only hides it deeper. So if Como, even though I agree it's too early, is a possibility, then the medallion has already been hidden. Yes, the brainless hunters who were digging on the burial grounds at Mounds should be banned from all hunts now and future ones.
Once the action, ahem, heats up, we'll post the latest clues right here, on the PioneerPlanet Winter Carnival page, and we'll do it every night at 11:30 sharp.
Ticktock, we should all realize that Mom would never, never hide it on a golf course. I believe that a golf course is near and should not be dug on no matter what the future clues lead us to believe. If you take off the parks with the golf courses near by, then it mainly leaves Battle Creek. Where does the references to scenes and not being caught connect? We've already established a skiing hill, etc. I'm just trying to keep my list up-to-date.
Hey there. Yes of course they should, but how do we know who they are?
Let's just focus on Como for now as a group, unless something points us in a different direction. Then we will have a better chance of getting one of the water cooler people there, right? Stay clear of the Como Golf Course. Try the zoo, or the ampitheater.
TD - By Battle Creek park you have a ski jump south of Afton road or Battle Creek north of Afton Road has a ski hill, both east of Mcknight. I still think Mounds Park with sledding and Hollman airport.
Ticktock, if the theory of not having the same park dug up two years in a row. People would be very upset if another year of digging is done there. I'm referring to Indian Mounds. Battle Creek - does it have anything to do with the other clue references?
Allison--Is that your Fairway, Green theory you are talking about?
Step, huh???
TD- take off the golf course parks-no way.
Ticktock, why take them off?
Personally I think the fairway green thing is true because they do not want people hacking up the golf course
digger--I am just saying how I think the slogan for this year may mean something...
Step, there is a hockey shack at Phalen. Didn't I see one on the south side, with a rink?
I'd say take Como off the list. It was used too recently and the fact that they have that snow slide already taking place won't encourage them hiding it there. MJ--you in here?
Right JTFT.
MJ--you sure did!! Hockey rink and warming shack...
So the golf course reference means to stay clear of that area. Then, why post it in a clue unless there is a course near by or connected to the park it's hidden in.
Digger--exactly!!
Can the first couple of clues be that obvious for the location or are we overlooking something?
Cool!!!! I too thought about the *warm feet* thing! Hmmmmmmm. Sounds like it might fly!!!
MJ--so we have the warming shack, then the golf course, then the park, then the sledding hill....thats the order they go in at phalen...
Hey! Maybe we're supposed to "boot" up - and the treasure is posted on a website! I've heard of treasure hunts where they do that, and the finder has to come back to the main board and post the URL. I know someone who won a very nice prize that way!!!
Just as the clue reads-'but a golf course is not'TD.
Is there a hockey rink at Phalen?

Jim--yes there is.
Thanks Step
Step, is that your real email address??? Want to send you something!

Look at this...another reference on the SAME page
"once the action 'heats up'"
I don't know.....

MJ--yeah at school, but I'm not there now....
1998's "Shovel Boy"

Digger--who the hell is mom?
Thanks Step! I'll ask you later. Mom the Digger is referring to is Mom Planet. PP.
I think its the capital they are refering too
Sorry, Mom is the Pioneer Press.
MJ--did you see the other "warm" reference I posted?
Why Cammando?
Yes, it goes well.
Master, we are all part of the Water Cooler.
I will set a blinding pace of search tomorrow.. Ill ask jesse to melt all the damn snow.
Commando, you make me laugh!!!
TD - By Battle Creek park you have a ski jump south of Afton road or Battle Creek north of Afton Road has a ski hill, both east of Mcknight. I still think Mounds Park with sledding and Hollman airport.
All battle Creek fits is the jump--there is no way it's there.
Ticktock, if the theory of not having the same park dug up two years in a row. People would be very upset if another year of digging is done there. I'm referring to Indian Mounds. Battle Creek - does it have anything to do with the other clue references?
We don't know Digger, what do *you* think????
Step - There's the ski hill north of Afton in the Battle Creek park I'm thinking of by the Battle Creek school.
Divine Guidance time!! What are the main parks that everyone is thinking. One line answer to make it easy and fast (for Matt).
Highland
Battle Creek is last on my list...
Be nice Treasure Digger
Jim ... I'm being nice.
Phalen
