It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Winnebago crew was at Conway, then its' got to be at Conway!!
Hey green, I was looking for you tonight but couldn't find you. Did you hear that the clue on the net was a misprint and that the real clue says frozen PLACES
Hay, Allison? You sleep after dinner? *I* did! LOL! Got up for the clue, got winterized, and headed bock to Conway. Didn't do any digging, but just enjoyed the
JT SNOW Couldn't get there this am, baby wouldn't cooperate. I have seen many strange people in my 10+ yrs of hunting, however, I usually notice the ones sitting
in cars. If it's in a spot not visible from a car, I guess it's possible.
Yup, shure did, Allison, but thanks fur thinking o'me! Dad came up with the idea that tho they [hockey rinks] may not bee the same *shape* they still mite
encompass the same *area.*
Me? I can't even begin to noodle THAT one!!! I'm WAY TOO math challenged!
And we will not disucss potatoe salad or how long to cook an 8 lb. ham, thank you very much.
Deb, He went back to his car three times. Everytime he put on a new item of clothing i.e. hat, sunglasses, gloves. He had WI license plates. I think he was spotting.
If the real clue says PLACES, that's kind of vague. If there is a spotter out there who knows where it really is, don't you think they would have wondered why
virtually everyone was going to the same (presumably) wrong place? If it were me, I would have called the office and reported something strange and had them
check what the clue said. Yet as far as I know, they still haven't corrected it (haven't checked in the last half hour though).
I know it is the next to the last clue, and I did expect them to zero in, but not that much! And without a fight even! Frozen planes of ice is hardly a veiled reference. I
just can't imagine something so easy to get at, even if the specificness of it didn't bother me. Frozen PLACES of equal size, now that's what I would have expected
(Frist let me say, *maybee* a Freudian slip on the part of whomever put it in The 'Planet????)
Using "places" - you've *still* got the word "frozen." What else out there that's equal - and who says it has to be equal in SIZE, now that I think about it????
Equal can mean "same." And a hockey rink izz a hockey rink, izz a hockey rink!
I think there are two possibilties. One is that they mean to literally find two frozen places in the park, or two, it is a reference to something like sugary loaf and yellow
Allison, there are two Conway's (in the clue), two signs with the mascot on them (the scoreboard and a park bulletin board sign at the corner o'Ruth and Conway.
Two boarded hockey rinks, two "peaks" at SunRay...
I'm leaning towards it being two literal places in the park based on the wording of the clue. I don't think its a softball field because there are three of them. Although
one of them is covered with ice right now and the fourth field is a baseball field. It wouldn't be the building because they're not frozen. The parking lots are different
sizes. It seems to me anything in the hills would be hard to judge in size. And the playground has been dug up more than anything. Does that leave anything?
Also, how many spots in the park can you define as a place? The tennis courts might be a good guess, but they we're being pretty well investigated when I left.
I'm still thinking tennis courts which is maybe how the places/planes confusion arose, but would you call them frozen, and I wonder why they didn't find it yet?

Hey green, I was looking for you tonight but couldn't find you. Did you hear that the clue on the net was a misprint and that the real clue says frozen PLACES
instead of PLANES?
Hay, Allison? You sleep after dinner? *I* did! LOL! Got up for the clue, got winterized, and headed bock to Conway. Didn't do any digging, but just enjoyed the
sights, sounds and smells - Coleman lanterns burning - o'The Locusts.
Looked for Ian and Son, and PatP and Girl, but didn't find them. Did hook up with Ter, Inks, Mom, Dad, DDY and Wright Winger. Cheryl and Eags had left
already - bummer.

I saw Wight Winger, but that was it. Did it bother you that the hockey rinks weren't the same size? Or that the clue seemed too easy?
Yup, shure did, Allison, but thanks fur thinking o'me! Dad came up with the idea that tho they [hockey rinks] may not bee the same *shape* they still mite
encompass the same *area.*

ROFLOLPMP!!!
Just when I thought this was about to wrap up, the intrigue skyrockets!
GREEN HI! HI! HI! Look forward to meeting you. Will you be out tomorrow? Were any of you at Hidden Falls a few yrs back? I don't know how a spotter
could've kept track then either, in fact I believe that was the year the people went home to tell husbands/wives & turned in the next day
Deb, He went back to his car three times. Everytime he put on a new item of clothing i.e. hat, sunglasses, gloves. He had WI license plates. I think he was spotting.
Seemed young though barely 25.
As a former math prodigy I can tell you that they are not the same area either. Not even close.
The easy does not bother me, Al. Not the same *shape* does.
Reason, I think, clue was easier izzit was next to the last one. They're really zeroing in on it - pinpointing it.
And "equal places" could change things... But can't really noodle *how*.
See how useful you are, Al!!!! I'd never have gotten that - how they're not the same area!
Deb... don't know. May go into work late, then bee bock at Conway at 11:00 p.m. or so.
Oh! Al, I didn't get bock to Conway tonite until 1:00 a.m. or so...

JT SNOW MAYBE HE'S JUST A FREAK??? NEVER SEEN SUCH INSANITY B4??? OR MAYBE THE PP/WINTER CARNIVAL THOUGHT HE'S BE
INCONSPICOUS. WHO KNOWS. LIKE THE NICE GUY FROM HARRIET ISLAND THAT GAVE THE TWO JOBLESS GUYS HATS/GLOVES & A
RIDE TO THE PP WHEN THEY (NOT HE) FOUND IT. SPOTTER?? PROBABLY!!! GOODNIGHT TERRY, GREEN, SNOW & EVERYONE BABY
GETS UP EARLY, & MUST GET OUT THERE TOMORROW.
Allison, The Spotter's there only to verify the finding o'The Med. Too, in that large a group, group thinking can get folks to do weird things.
I don't think a herd o'people running to a given spot would faze The Spotter.
Nite, Deb! SMHCD!!! Good luck tomorrow!!!

just can't imagine something so easy to get at, even if the specificness of it didn't bother me. Frozen PLACES of equal size, now that's what I would have expected
from the person who wrote clues 1-10.
Has it ever been found on a person? Perhaps if you ask the spotter he'd hand it to you???
Maybe I should take a moment and try to figure out the clue and then go back. I'll definitely have a jump on the competition!
Maybe you're right JT. I always suspected they had some bizarre way of hiding it this year and thus the need to be an iconoclast.
Otay. Lettuce noodle it. And use "places."
How many people are still at Conway?
JT, in our dreams, in our DREAMS! LOL!!!
FORGOT THIS TIDBIT...WHEN IT WAS AT HARRIET ISLAND, I WAS AT PP ON A CEL PHONE TO MY PARTNER WHO WAS IN THE PARK.
TEN MINUTES BEFORE THEY STARTED SELLING PAPERS A HERD OF PEOPLE RUSHED TO THE AREA SPECIFIED IN THE LAST CLUE, A
LEAK? HATE TO SHED ANY NEGATIVITY ON THIS 'CUZ I'M HOOKED, BUT SOME STRANGE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED B4. SPOTTER
DOESN'T CARE IF WE'RE RIGHT OR WRONG, AS SOMEONE ELSE STATED, JUST TO VERIFY IF IT'S FOUND.
OKAY NOW REALLY, GODDNIGHT
'Man, when I left, I'd say 100 or less. And I left at 2:30 a.m.
I think there are two possibilties. One is that they mean to literally find two frozen places in the park, or two, it is a reference to something like sugary loaf and yellow
stone were last year.
Green...thats still a fair ammount.....where were most of them? i live a block away from conway thats why i ask.
(Deleted item originally posted by green. on 03:39am Feb 3, 1999 CST)
And it does say two frozen places equal in size, not just stature.
Green.. What time is the BASH?
Man, rite around the hockey rinks.

Deb, will start at 11:30 a.m. - get it???
(When the clues come out on line, but a.m.-wise!)
Oh, thanks, Al. I didn't remember that.
Otay, so we're bock to two frozen "places" of equal size...
Not that I know of, Al.
Are there two walks that are the same length?
Also, how many spots in the park can you define as a place? The tennis courts might be a good guess, but they we're being pretty well investigated when I left.
The driveway is oval and has two openings.... Bet they're the same width...
Could it be two *trees* of equal height and shape? Mabye in the *middle* of them? They are frozen arent they?
Bet ittiz the tennis courts. "Planes" galore there, not to mention ittiz a "place" and there are two equally sized courts!
Bummer... Wonder if ittiz found.
It also says seeing a thing twice... which would imply its not something obscured by snow.
YEA..two trees!
Don't think trees, Man. Too round - too... How do you spell the word I want??? (I'm TIRED!)
I thought of trees, or perhaps an area defined by trees. But I wonder if you can really call a tree a place?
Green--what do u mean Too round two?
The driveway???
See something twice....
The two signs (planes?) with the mascot?
Why not allison...its somewhere isnt it?
It could because they have us looking up at the red thing....water on high....peaks......and so on...it could be a couple of trees....
Too cylendrical - did I spell it rite? I'm not convinced ittiz NOT a *plane*.
But the two signs are disperportionate... (sigh)
In other words we are looking up towards the horizon and sky....why not trees?
I'm still thinking tennis courts which is maybe how the places/planes confusion arose, but would you call them frozen, and I wonder why they didn't find it yet?
Now i thought the paper said two places...not the internet saying of planes....if its places...could it be trees?
I suppose the two planes could not be Plane Trees (Platanus acerifolia). Where there trees having golf ball size fruit hanging from the branches.
