It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

o.k the tele thing is a BIG OL mistake...cuz mine is 797 and the apt next door is 545
yeah plus dont we ALWAYS seem to get a nice little snowstorm about the middle of every hunt (like the one arriving tomorrow), a little freezing rain right after it's been hidden (to give us sore arms from shoveling though that crap) and of course the cold below zero front that moves in... oooh the cold...
okay.. upon doing my final look over of the first 3 clues here's what ive got... clue #1= stay off the golf course that IS in the park... (the "dont get caught" and "wrong scene" may be referring to the police station in highland park??) clue #2= there are sledding hills in the park but they arent close to the hiding site.... clue #3= heavy sports clue, maybe baseball, golf, or figure skating... and the "adorn a door" is aligned with "somewhere a four"... so maybe a door with a four on it?? (which is the cop shop at highland, precint 4)
figure these out could imply math... the equation would have to have either 9+5, 9-5, or 9x5 in it and the 4 goes somewhere in that equation... maybe its 9x5x4=180.. maybe 180 means do a 180 degree turn from the door and look for it there
heres a site where you can type in the name of a St.Paul park and it gives you a list of all the attributes.. you can even get a map of it's location in the city if street name clues ever come into play... http://www.friendsoftheparks.org/parksearch.htm
nope adorn definitely implies elegance... so they arent spray painted on... roget's thesaurus comes in sooo handy this time of year... you can see what other words they could have used and try to figure out why they used that word.. mostly its a poetic flow thing though... and yeah why a front door?? wouldnt that imply there is a back door or side doors to this building???
that's exactly what I was thinking....a building for sure of some sort. I used the Thesaurus in Microsoft Word, probably not the most reliable source. I think we could definitly conclude that a door is wearing those numbers
im stumped... i'll probably have to go to and fro through the parks looking for those numbers.. when i see them i'll be able to make sense of the clue i hope
its too early for clues relating to paces to the prize... but maybe they think we'll think its too early so they'll drop it on us and watch us have fun trying to think up some grand equation
if they put it in a big huge field....it would be likely they'd start out quick. I don't think the medallion is really anywhere near this door...that would be to easy
If you see a short girl, w/short brown hair, wearing an oversized tan coat say "hi"! You know my name! Otherwise I'm going to look up some dates and go to bed (been up late w/stomach flu)
Just got back from Highland Park (yeah, it's late. :P) I must say, if it isn't around there, then it's on Mars. Indeed, the clues up to 3 are telling us where the medallion ISN'T; and Highland slips into just about all of these. Fink has some good leads w/ the police station, etc. And, indeed, there ARE sledding hills on the west end of Highland, along with the sports areas. I don't know exactly if there's a scoreboard or not (I didn't dredge through the snow just yet), but it's easily feasable. As for the 9, 5, and 4, I don't know if the Police Station is the 4th precinct or not, I haven't verified this information. But I did noticee rather quickly that signs pointing out hwy 5 were atop the north end of cty rd 51. And I could also freak out with stupid math equasions (hey, how much of a part have they ever played? See my point.) saying, "oh! Cty rd 51! 5 - 1 = 4! But I won't. What's stumping me as of now is the piece mentioning the front door. I don't get it. But, I will soon. !) Oh well, time for some bed. I've been waiting for this.
Oh, and I'm still not discounting Phalen. Just that this seems too good right now.

the years it was found early on the weather was actually nice and there was little snow cover at the time...
A couple weeks ago, I was getting really excited by how easy it was going to be to "dig" through the few inches of powder we had.
Kiss that one goodbye.
remember when it was at Harriet Island and it was 19 Below?
are there ANY st.paul parks without golf courses on or near them as to say "a golf course is not" in clue # 1?
I gotta get back to work.
See ya tomorrow

I totally agree Egghead! me too! *grumbles at the snow*
although 9+5+4=18?
yep i was at harriet that year... but it was still fun cuz i realized i was about 5 feet from the spot digging away at 3 a.m.
I like the way you think Mr. Fink!!!!
figure these out could imply math... the equation would have to have either 9+5, 9-5, or 9x5 in it and the 4 goes somewhere in that equation... maybe its 9x5x4=180.. maybe 180 means do a 180 degree turn from the door and look for it there
figure skating is a real neat idea....they are scored on scales like that
just 4.a.m rambling coming from these fingers though
wow, i could be on to something with the 9x5x4=180... and on the front door would be a scoreboard of some sorts...???
the numbers have to "decorate" a front door somewhere
yeah maybe the 9/5/and 4 have something to with the ice skating rink and if theres a warming house nearby with a similar clue on its door????????
yup cause it says it keeps score AND decorates a door
curious as to why its the FRONT door?
heres a site where you can type in the name of a St.Paul park and it gives you a list of all the attributes.. you can even get a map of it's location in the city if street name clues ever come into play... http://www.friendsoftheparks.org/parksearch.htm
don't think "adorn" neccessarily means "decorate" doesn't it mean--- just to like hang there?
I looked in the thesaurus cause I was unsure of the meaning, it said dress-up, decorate, to wear
thanks for that addy Barton!

I guess I'd go out looking for those numbers somewhere in all the parks under suspicion....I think that's my tactic
that's exactly what I was thinking....a building for sure of some sort. I used the Thesaurus in Microsoft Word, probably not the most reliable source. I think we could definitly conclude that a door is wearing those numbers
and its got to be on the front door, and the medallion must be near there
594 954 459
?
yep it might be a straight shot from the door or the door might only be visible from the site...
I'm also interested in the fact they separated out the four from the rest. It could be 95 or 59? and the number four some where else?
where was the medallion found in those years? 59, 95 I can't remember
am i alone?
maybe just maybe the #'s mean steps also ??
interesting thought wil
im stumped... i'll probably have to go to and fro through the parks looking for those numbers.. when i see them i'll be able to make sense of the clue i hope
how many clues do we have left? we can kind of space em out to see how in depth it really is
its too early for clues relating to paces to the prize... but maybe they think we'll think its too early so they'll drop it on us and watch us have fun trying to think up some grand equation
think feb.6th id the last day for clues if it isnt found by then... so lets see... a total of 14 clues maximum... still a ways to go...
if they put it in a big huge field....it would be likely they'd start out quick. I don't think the medallion is really anywhere near this door...that would be to easy
still a long ways to go
I bet it would be funny to watch us talk about the hunt in here, if you knew where it was hidden
alright ive polluted the boards with my ideas for long enough tonight... i'll see ya later, hopefully at the right park...
If you see a short girl, w/short brown hair, wearing an oversized tan coat say "hi"! You know my name! Otherwise I'm going to look up some dates and go to bed (been up late w/stomach flu)
have a good one fink! Hopefully we'll be hunting in the same areas near the treasure!
aaah what a combo.. pukin and postin... i doubt i'll see ya but if i do i'll say hey.. get well... it's gonna be cold and snowy this week
in 95 it was at Battle Creek
In '59 it was warner rd. where ever that is...
