1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Highland Park, without a doubt!

My lunch break is over, gotta go back to work. Back in about an hour!

why?

Come on, it's so obvious, it's in a St. Paul Park! OK, seriously, to me it sounds like the 9 and 5 are on a door of some building and then some representation of 4 is nearby. I think Duncan knows exactly where it is and he's just trying to fool us.

woodduck--where was it found?

Woodduck, think about it, that story would never get out, would it (sarcasm is what it's called) Anyway, the early clues seem to give a little more than usual, to me anyway. I think we will get another telling clue tonight and then 3 or 4 nonsense clues before we get to the good stuff. Good Luck!

Tony--you are right...how would you stumble onto it?

the chances of someone stumbling into it - well yea - it could happen - and well all of us could win the lottery so we wouldn't have to look for this damn madallion - but the truth is... the winter carnival doesn't have that kind of money to throw around - yea - we'll just throw out another 10k - are you on crack??

1st of all, the paper only gives 5, and the Heritage Society or whatever they call it, gives the other 5. They don't have an extra 5 laying around, and I'm sure the PP wouldn't just drop an extra 10 to make it last a week longer.

jack--What you just said is exactly the truth.

hey, woodduck ever consider that your reliable source from the pioneer press got it from a unreliable one, huh?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:13 PM Permalink
Step

enlighten me, jim....where is it?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:14 PM Permalink

would they hide it in a piece of cheese???

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:18 PM Permalink
Woodduck

Where would the finder claim the $10K?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:19 PM Permalink
Darryl Zero

It's at Phalen this year, I just can feel it, and this is weird because every other year I just assume it is at como until we get a good clue, so Phalen, let's grab the shovels and go look for that non-metallic thing that is worth $10,000 to us....LET'S GO! VAMOS!

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:20 PM Permalink
Step

woodduck--I just CALLED pioneer press and nobody has found it.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:20 PM Permalink
Step

darryl--where at phalen are you gonna look?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:21 PM Permalink
Darryl Zero

Tell ya the truth, I have no idea,Step. I just thought I would get everyone motivated so maybe we could get rid of Woodduck. But I seriously believe it is at Phalen, it is just a good place to put it this year. I don't think I will look and if I do, not for very long. Maybe I will drive around and look for numbers. However, more than likely I will wait for the next clue before I investigate any further.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:25 PM Permalink
jack groden

"Numbers keep score and adorn the front door" = Adorn meems to make more attractive by adding ornament, color, etc.... to be beautiful to look at....furninsh with power or authority; of kings or emperors...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:28 PM Permalink
Darryl Zero

Where are you going with that, Jack?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:31 PM Permalink
Woodduck

There was no harm intended in passing on a possible rumor. I thought it would be interesting to discuss the possibities. I didn't expect anybody to take the scenario as fact!

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:31 PM Permalink
Darryl Zero

Woodduck, you did pass it along as fact. You said you had a reliable source walking in here like Agent Fox Mulder, is that how you spell it, who cares anyway because you are a quack and you were exspecting all of us to go "oh, really. Woodduck you are so cool and we worship you because you know all the inside information." NO WAY! so be quiet, because you were obviously a fraud when you came in here. Let's be serious and help each other to cash, of course, only one of us wins but working together increases your chances of winning, so don't be a loner, join in on the cooler, let's think hard, Phalen or what?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:36 PM Permalink
David Medallion

does everyone think phalen?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:47 PM Permalink
Darryl Zero

Is anyone still in here? Or is everyone on their to Phalen?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:48 PM Permalink
Woodduck

Let's not go crazy! Some people are considering things that are far less feasible than this scenario. We all present information to the group, and each person must assess the worth of the content. There is no reason to write so much negativity which has no worth at all! What I have said, has caused no harm and has mislead nobody. The best way to find the medallion is to gather all information.

Dave M.

It has been a long time for Phalen and so far the sketchy clues fit it and probably 10 other parks in the Saintly city.

Darryl Zero

Earth to the quack, come on. It was your attmept to be funny. I know your kind of people who stomp into some wonderful brainstorming event to display your bad try at humor. It was not funny and It did nothing for the well being of the cooler. You are a quack like the two words after your name. But if you wish for a truce, it is given, I am not mad. I just think you should be honest with us. We are trying hard to think through these clues and your BS was no help in fullfiling that highly determined goal.

Hey Let's write out are own clue 4 this could be fun. See how close it is to the real clue. But then again I am sure we wouldn't even be close oh well!

Woodduck' s right-- let's not get vicious on each other. On that note... do people get all violent when the medallion is found? Has anyone been there at the moment it is found?

King Boreas aka Ian

I don't know if anyone has confirmed this yet, so I'll post it. This is a one time $10,000 prize.

I can't possibly read all the posts that have accumulated, but there seems to be a lot of garbage that doesn't belong here. A few miscreants were banned last year, and I would hate for that to happen to someone who is truly interested in the hunt.

I am off work for the remainder of the hunt. I hope to meet many of you during "the chase".

BEE, where are you ??

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:58 PM Permalink
Darryl Zero

Yeah, go to como. I hope you have fun looking because it is not there.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 12:58 PM Permalink

I agree with jimt!!

Three Big parks - Como, Phalen, and Highland are the front runners for the Bigger money this year.

But I wouldn't be supprised if the would put it in an obscure little park?

TOO SOON TO TELL!

Best Thing to do when it is found, is not to draw attention to yourself. A lot of tired people can turn into an angry mob.

Keep safe!

Well folks, I am leaving now. See you guys at Phalen.
