It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Bj--I've never even heard of the park...where is it?
Merriam park is small along I-94 on the north and Prior Ave. on the East it has a grade school, and a community center in it. Softball, basketball, and a kids climbing area.
I have an idea on the 9, 5, 4 clue. Nine people on a baseball team, 5 on a basketball team and four, although spelled differently, is a warning used in golf. Is there a park out there with a basketball court, baseball field, golf, and sliding around?
ok, #'s on the doors, could this be addresses???at phalen the 950 block is cypress street (n,s), somewhere a 4 could be arlington ave that is the 1400 block (e,w) .??????? just a thought
I am 100% sure that it isn't in mounds and probably never will be again. It has only been there once and that was a nightmare with the people digging the mounds.
Why would "nine and a five and somewhere a four" mean I-94? That's a pretty big stretch, since the clue seems to connect the 5 with the 9, not the 4 with the 9.
The numbers are key. If they're giving us the big picture, I think we're all grabbing at straws. They very well could be numbers on a building. Brian S is right. Way to early for the shovels.
Well, I was stubborn on Mounds last year until the "Chair" of the committe and "Key" to the door clue. I refuse to ever go to Mounds again, Native Americans or not.
Yeah, I would have to say Phalen guys, think about the first clue which could refer to Phalen in that Phalen is part Maplewood and part St. Paul and the Medallion obviously is on "public ground" on the St.Paul side. But then again, these clues suck so far so hopefully we will get a good one tonight.
I looked up the word "attraction" means capability of attracting, the second meaning is a feature or characteristic that attracts, something such as a PUBlIC spectacle or entertainment. So maybe this word is trying to tell us that there is some kind of entertainment besides sport going on in the mystery park. Maybe music or a pasat display in the park. Lake Phalen had the Ice Castle that one year, that was considered a public spectacle. Anyway back to the Dictionary.
I can't grasp the idea of it being at Phalen.. I cant think of any clues that lead to it.. the only thing is that it is a big park.. I hope not to bite my own tongue in the future!...
Bj--I've never even heard of the park...where is it?
STEP
The "attraction" is the outdoors, sliding or whatever for the winter.

Merriam Park is South of I-94 at Pryor Ave.. It's near St. Thomas and Macalester Colleges.
Mark--Phalen has indoor and outdoor basketball, 4 baseball fields, and a course!
It might be at hidden falls again!!!!

why?
lildebi--it has to be phalen.
popular attraction doesnt have to be winter, what about waterskiing in the summer. step, why at phalen only???
It's not Phalen Step. Start thinkin' about somewhere else. You're wasting your time.
Jim--How are you so sure of that???
where do you think it is Jimbo?
Battle Creek or Mounds Park (Both off highway 94)
I'll have to agree with Jim
what about the golf course?
They want you to stay away from golf courses!
I am 100% sure that it isn't in mounds and probably never will be again. It has only been there once and that was a nightmare with the people digging the mounds.
Jim--yeah exactly...does that mean there is NO golf course??? It's at a park with a golf course and they are telling us to stay off of it.
Why would "nine and a five and somewhere a four" mean I-94? That's a pretty big stretch, since the clue seems to connect the 5 with the 9, not the 4 with the 9.
agree brian.......its not at mounds park. indians got pissed last time it was there
bronco fan--exactly. I agree with you 150%.
LET'S TAKE A VOTE - EVERYONE - JUST PUT ONE WORD ON THE MESSAGE FOR EXAMPLE, HIGHLAND, OKAY?
Step - About the numbers or the Broncos? (bwah-ah-ah-ah-ah!)
Phalen
The importance of 9 5 and 4 will surprise all of us in a couple of clues. Be patient!!
the numbers
You can't disturb the Indian mounds anymore. They have fences around them Brian.
The numbers are key. If they're giving us the big picture, I think we're all grabbing at straws. They very well could be numbers on a building. Brian S is right. Way to early for the shovels.
nighland
Do you think fences will stop people? I don't. Some people will do some really stupid things for $10000.
You may be right Step but I don't think they would limit us to 3 parks right away.
I was at mounds last year and people were over the fences walking on the mounds...
Well, I was stubborn on Mounds last year until the "Chair" of the committe and "Key" to the door clue. I refuse to ever go to Mounds again, Native Americans or not.

jim--it HAS to be at a big park....otherwise someone would get their ass beat finding it at a small park where EVERYONE can see you finding something.
Failin (Phalen)
Darryl--I think it's phalen. So far these clues are telling us where NOT to go and they all lead towards Maplewood. To stay in St. Paul, at Phalen.
STEP
Keep in mind the way the clues lead us toward certain parks at the early stages, and then later put us in a totally different park.

Joe!!!
Dave--where do you think it is early on?
