Back on... Back Off!

Pikachu is hoping to get his newspaper this morning to help him narrow down the search. See you out there in a few days, I hope! I'll be the one in the Star Trek coat, so say Pika-Pika if you see me!

I think it's going to be attached to a door knocker.

it seems to me the numbers represent roads a 5 is hwy 5 the 4& the 9 is hwy 94 intersect them together meets at battle creek park. or it could be at como park the 5 is hwy 51 the 9 is a 9 hole golf course and the 4 is what golfers yell out if they are going to hit someone with a ball.

What you must remember is that it is not a golf course!

P.C. yes you are right i know that the medallion will not be buried on the golf course but it can be buried by a golf course like como park. if you didnt like that one how about the road idea.

This has got to be my best effort ever at stirring the pot for Newell. Despite or because of all of my disclaimers?

Of all the clue theories I was most intrigued by the hint that the correct park would contain a basketball court (5), a ball field (9), and that a golf course would be "somewhere" near (4 aka 'fore'). Of course, since I am intrigued by it, I am probably off the track.

Have a great day everyone!

just wanted to say to pat, go with your first hunch...last year at cherokee park, i was 20 yards from the medallion on the first day then i seemed to drift farther and farther away as the days wore on.....

P.Pf Did you catch the rhyme "you'll" when "you will" would have been aethetically more apropos? Could be fodder for Newell theme?

Okay, what is the best suggestion... what do you guys think? Are these first three clues just giving some BS, or are we getting an address, or does the 9-5-4 have to do with sport activity... Dr. Peppper Bottle, what is up with that?

Looks like everyone has grid locked. These clues are tricky this year.

The real clues should start tonight

The first ones are always very vague!

I think "flying" has to do with the airport or in view of planes. Maybe "Mound Park". 9, 5, and 4 could be Highway 94 and Highway 5. Both within a block of the park.

9, 5 and 4 may have to do with the object that the medallion is hidden in.

I love you Kelly!

Well, I'm getting ready to gear up for the big hunt. The golf course clue could it mean that it may not be at a park with a golf course or if it is a park with a course the three main ones are Phalen, Como, Highland. I am ruling out Como since it was there in 97. Phalen was my first preliminary guess. Too soon to tell yet. My hunch is that for the big bucks it will be at a Big Park. The GURU HIDERS will make us work for it this year.

I haven't looked at all the previous messages here.. but has anyone ruled out Como? The "Flying downhill can be quite a thrill And a popular outdoor attraction" could relate to the Como Ski Center. The address for it is 1431 Lexington.. if you add these numbers you can get your 951 that would adore the front door. Just a thought.. thanks!

step.. if only i could share.. the 9 and 5 could also relate to the time a place is open..

chuch--what park are you thinking so far?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:06 AM Permalink
icm

step.. I want to think Como.. but, it was just there is 97. Right now everyone has good ideas.. I checked back and they have never had the same place within 3 years.. seems to me like the locations are pretty spread out during the years. What about you?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:08 AM Permalink
Step

I want to think Phalen but there are really no good hills there. Otherwise, the clues fit it pretty good....

Step - I think Phalen, too. As far as no hills, a couple of weeks ago when we had that nice Saturday, I seen lots of people sliding on the hills off hwy 61 by the parking lot there. Also the Keller golf course is located right there and that is a private club. As far as this number thing no clues of hunches yet.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:24 AM Permalink

Eva--I think the "flying downhill" means something othe r than sledding for some reason. The word "attraction" trrows me off in the next line....

icm

I remember as a kid.. we used to go to Keller Lake to go sliding.. perhaps... I could believe it will be at Phalen...

David Medallion

think it is due to be at phalen

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:40 AM Permalink
Step

David--I do too but why do you think it's there? We are trying to come up with some ideas.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:41 AM Permalink
Step

keller is in Maplewood....

B.J. Mack

These are tough ones. Still leaning towards Phalen or Highland, although a friend is convinced it's Merriam Park. Merriam is near Town & County Golf Course and runs along Interstate 94 (a 9 and a 4) and has a good sledding hill. Hmmm... maybe she's right...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:42 AM Permalink
Step

BJ--where does the 5 come in?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:43 AM Permalink
David Medallion

think the numbers refer to the golf course......only near it though

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:43 AM Permalink
Step

Me too david--It's definately at a park WITH a course...do you agree?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:45 AM Permalink
jimt

STEP Clue #2 says "flying downhill", "outdoor attraction", "your chances are nil if you get to close to the action". maybe means the sliding is near at Keller but not near the hiding place if it is in Phalen.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:48 AM Permalink
Step

good point jimt--but what does "attraction" mean?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:49 AM Permalink
jim buzz

Anyone think of this one yet? In'95 the medallion was found off highway 94(Battle Creek Park)

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:53 AM Permalink
B.J. Mack

Step -- The Merriam Park theory isn't mine, but it could be plausible. I haven't been there, but there could be a "5" around somewhere. I think if you check out the neighborhood you'll find an "attraction" (but I'm not going to tell you what it is...we all have to do a _little_ work!).

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 10:53 AM Permalink
Step

chuck--good call. Whereabouts in como is this slide?
