It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
remember you can stand back and be able to see everyting from a distance. The golf course can be seen from standing onthe skyway path that goes from one park to another at highland.
Good point, but if I don't dig to deep... well, I think it is in St.Paul, right? And he really doesn't want anybody digging around on a golf course, okay? So ummmmmm..... Well, could there be a golf course in the park. No, I would be digging too deep. No, Highland, baby.
I'm just saying that history is that it is very rare to be able to have the park narrowed down by #5. Looking back at past discussions here. Last night people were willing to be the farm that it was Newell. Clue #1 had lots of Phalen fans. What happened there. We still have a couple of clues for them to surprise us all. Like everybody else if my hunch is right i'll get the jump on it.
ahhhh.... wasn't that Mario Comou clue like the fourth clue a couple of years ago? If it is a big park perse... he will give it to ya. He could say it is at Como on the first clue and then go back to the non-helping ones and still no one would find the thing until he said basically where it is. Highland is a big park, go look for it and you will know what I mean.
I was interested in highland the first couple of clues. I seen some stuff that has changed my mind. I'm looking at something else right now. who knows maybe tomorrow night I'll be thinking highland. Only clue #6 will tell me.
Got disconnected from you so I had to come back online and check things out, but the board was down again! Waited at least 40 minutes for that sucker to come back up.
I'm here - did you make it ouit tonight? Saw birdie out there. There's a point in the park where the 9-5-4 line up "Adorn doors". I don't understand the people talking numbers on hwys, ballfields, baseball players, etc. The "adorn door" thing pinpoints vicinity of medalion - so-far noplace has that except NP. I'm staying there.
Anybody here? What have stone fences got to do with anything? I just got back from Highland. I'm staying there until something changes. The 5th clue is keeping me there. Sorry, Golden Boy. So far it feels right, but I'm prepared to switch if/when the time comes. That park is huge!!
CLUE #1 - "Fairway" & "Scene" = Fair-VIEW. Won't get "caught" = baseball reference - Midway or ballfield at NP.
CLUE #2 - Say's stay away from COMO and sliding hills - sliding hill comes into play in Clue #4
CLUE #3 - "Score" reference to sports = NP has baseball, V-Ball, Tennis, Basketball
9-5-4 + comes together with Clue #4.
"shout" = reference to cheering fans at midway
CLUE #4 - "Studying the Past" = 150 year anniversary of the PP, founded in 1849. In 1849, gues who was President - Zach TAYLOR - Taylor St - runs into Newell.
"as WELL as the NEW" - a clear reference to Newell
Iconoclast = Pierce Butler was a revolutionary war figure, rebel (PB borders NP) or this refers to what the medallion is hidden inside (ie; if YOU're willing to BE an iconoclast (destroyer)) - implies you may have to bust something open.
As far as the 9-5 and somewhere a 4 thing. On the corner of Fair-VIEW and Taylor, which is exactly opposite (not near) the sliding hill, is a house with the address 895 “adorning the front door†- that’s why this KS95 thing doesn’t work. Now I know where the "4" is - can't give that one away - but it's real tough to see it in the dark, and you can only see it from a certain angle.
Unfortunately - MOST people on-line here haven't yet been to the parks - I've been to NP and HP - I like NP much better, because of what you see. I haven't figured out #5 yet - but I'm not convinced #5 means HP.
Its the only park that i can relate ever clue to easily....i keep finding my self back at phalen......outside that thing at newell and tonit about 15mins at highland.....i like phalen!
Yea Im at phalen......we need just one BIG clue to crack this sucker wide open...i just hope some guy walking his dog on a path dosnt find it on pure luck!
If you can explain 9-5-4, or some combination adorning a door - I'll be there tomorrow. I think that is a key clue as to the vicinity of the medallion. Even more key is how they say - "and somewhere a four" - and I've seen the four baby - they other very FEW people who have seen it at NP - well all they can say is "WOW Man, that is COOL".
If your park isn't solid on the 9-5----4 thing. You'll be diggin in vain. Who else on here has been to NP?? Oh and actually DUG - since -ya know - you actually have to DIG, and then DIG some more - (DIGGING STIMULATES YOUR BRAIN CELLS - I need all the help I can get!)
well i've seen the 9-5-----4 deal at Phalen also.....its right infront of you if you do some thinking at go look....not just a freak possibility......also "adorn the front door" stands out at you like a sore thunb! I say it right away.....you must not be from the east side of st paul or phalen area...i like what u say about newell but i gotta stick with my gut!
I dug at newel for about 2hrs the other night and i dont think it is there.....it must be torn up by now....were there many folks diggin there tonite??
Treasureman I grew up on the E-Side near Prosperity, used to run around Phalen all the time. So if I were to go to Phalen tomorrow - where would I start??
If you're using the Rand-McNally map and you look at an overview of Highway 94 and Highway 5, Highland is wedged in there. Also, you've got Precinct 4, or if you don't like that, you've got a 9-hole and then add 9, 4 and 5 together, and across the street you've got an 18 hole. Lots of possibilities.
Go and spend about 4hrs just walking around....take notes...draw maps.....and then dig later..........I have 4 areas that it could be.....i just need about 3 more clues......or should i say "hints"
People IT A PHALEN!!!!! Trust me......the paper dosnt want any chance of sombody finding it in the first few days....this thing is gonna be at a park nobody has been to much or thinks its there untill they dig the heck out of all other possibilities......its AT PHALEN!!!! Just rember in a few days youll rembemer where you heard it from!
Treasureman - hey I'm open minded. If you say the 9-5-4 thing is associated with adorning a door and you see it clear - hell I'll head over to Phalen before work tomorrow - er - I mean today.
9 - 5 ----- 4 is Key to narrowing down one area though - not three - it's a vicinity clue, not a "which park is it located at" clue.
I seriously think you should spend at least 50% of your efforts at phalen......rembember that if you keep going from park to park when they start giving the obvious clues you wont know a single park and everythin arround in it! I know phalen like the back of my hand....Its at phalen and it will be found Saterday night after 12:00am!
Throw people off who dig too deep into clues.
Correct me if I am wrong Barton but didn't we (you and I) establish this about 24 hours that the medallion is at Highland.
remember you can stand back and be able to see everyting from a distance. The golf course can be seen from standing onthe skyway path that goes from one park to another at highland.

Well, good night, hunters... May your hunt be as wonderful as mine.

I goin to bed. Good luck to everyone.

What about being near a school or ball field {scoreboard entryway}?
hello? is there anybody out there ?
Just got back from Newell and Highland - Birdie if you're still there - I still like Newell much better.
Hey Golden I'm still here are you?
What parks are near a school or what parks have stone fences or an archway at its enterance?
Got disconnected from you so I had to come back online and check things out, but the board was down again! Waited at least 40 minutes for that sucker to come back up.

Dave - you out there?? What do you think about #5??
Golden Boy......Why do u feel so strongly about Newell????? Decorate what front door????
Anybody here? What have stone fences got to do with anything? I just got back from Highland. I'm staying there until something changes. The 5th clue is keeping me there. Sorry, Golden Boy. So far it feels right, but I'm prepared to switch if/when the time comes. That park is huge!!
I was there last evening and i dont think this is where its at...trying to throw a loop in things......I hate MOM!

"You just gotta get out there and DIG"
Are you going to answer Golden Boy?
sorry
I like what you have to say golden.....but i still like my park......well see in a few days!
I hear that - what park are you diggin at?
Phalen
Its the only park that i can relate ever clue to easily....i keep finding my self back at phalen......outside that thing at newell and tonit about 15mins at highland.....i like phalen!
Here we are at Clue Number 5 and we're digging at three different parks. Is there anybody at Newell or Phalen?
Yea Im at phalen......we need just one BIG clue to crack this sucker wide open...i just hope some guy walking his dog on a path dosnt find it on pure luck!

I'm telling ya 9-5-----4 is KEY
If your park isn't solid on the 9-5----4 thing. You'll be diggin in vain. Who else on here has been to NP?? Oh and actually DUG - since -ya know - you actually have to DIG, and then DIG some more - (DIGGING STIMULATES YOUR BRAIN CELLS - I need all the help I can get!)

whats the deal with the stone arches or wall??
Well close but not too close to the gc....for starters :-)
If you're using the Rand-McNally map and you look at an overview of Highway 94 and Highway 5, Highland is wedged in there. Also, you've got Precinct 4, or if you don't like that, you've got a 9-hole and then add 9, 4 and 5 together, and across the street you've got an 18 hole. Lots of possibilities.

Myself, Birdie, Duckwood, and a few select others were digging at the "4" at NP- that area isn't dug up yet - still alot of work to do.
Allie - 9-5---4, numbers (or some partial combination) MUST "adorn a door". Not Streets. You need to be dead sure about 9-5-4.
People IT A PHALEN!!!!! Trust me......the paper dosnt want any chance of sombody finding it in the first few days....this thing is gonna be at a park nobody has been to much or thinks its there untill they dig the heck out of all other possibilities......its AT PHALEN!!!! Just rember in a few days youll rembemer where you heard it from!
if your yearning for learning look tward a school?
My 9-5----4 "adorns the front door!"
What is that deal with a stone arch or stone wall that was discussed eariler?
Treasureman - hey I'm open minded. If you say the 9-5-4 thing is associated with adorning a door and you see it clear - hell I'll head over to Phalen before work tomorrow - er - I mean today.
9 - 5 ----- 4 is Key to narrowing down one area though - not three - it's a vicinity clue, not a "which park is it located at" clue.
What part of the E-Side you from?
stone walls, archway, an entrance.
Ignore the stone thing at NP - that's not it.
North St Paul......but i live near sunray now.....i just moved out from home.....yes im a youngin....19
I seriously think you should spend at least 50% of your efforts at phalen......rembember that if you keep going from park to park when they start giving the obvious clues you wont know a single park and everythin arround in it! Hope you are there golden boy!
