2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Terry

There's a hill you would use your brains for instead of your legs for trekking through.

That was what I was thinking...but wasn't sure. That can be seen from the Capital Mall.

OK...I am sticking with the idea that it IS on a hill. I read the thing like 100 times, I think the word "one" refers to a specific hill...Don't know where or which one.

then it says if you have time to kill, just trek up and down every hill (maybe you will run across something.)

Yeah...I'm sticking to that. Otherwise I just confuse myself!!

SO Rush....we gonna dress up like Navy Seal vets and go dig up the capitol???? Hunt for man and drink some vodka and orange crush??

To "knit your brows" was first coined by Shakespeare. Anyone know which play? It wasn't MacBeth was it, a Scottish play, for the Highland High School Scots was it?

Was that Rush or Step, You hit the nail on the head ! This clue is tellin us either use your brain or to go treking up and down all kinds of hills......If you have time to kill.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:08 PM Permalink
StepDogg

Riv - that was me. That's what I think...use our brain to nail a specific hill...or just go trekin'.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:11 PM Permalink
Randahl

I come up with A.E. Housman the poet not shakespeare...brb

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:11 PM Permalink

yet another idea that just hit me: it might just be irrelevant. how many of us have at least been out scouting parks without the faintest clue of where its at? a lot of time killed doing that.

Thanks, the top of a hill thing fits pretty well.

OH New Daddy - very clever

Randy - I don't know about dressing up like Navy Seals, I was scoping out the mall area and wow- I couldn't disrespect our armed forces like that - even Jesse. Besides, I don't think Jesse is smart or clever enough to figure out that we're mocking him.

"...brows on this one". Make it a verb (browse) and you could send everyone off on an internet wild goose chase. Try www.onthisone.com.

Not! Rush is right, don't waste your time.

Rushmore

Like I've said before, if he's within a shovel's distance away from me, I will crack my shovel over his empty head. Maybe we should dress up - just to entice him.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:25 PM Permalink

ROFL PMP RUSH.....he wouldn't have a clue would he??

There sure has been a lot of good noodling going on in here.. I really like the idea of staying on top of the hill... I am pulling away from Capitol Hill I don't think that is a park.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:28 PM Permalink
rivvraft

Yeah, why waste your time scouting out parks this early on, it's a waste of time....but not if you have time to kill.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:29 PM Permalink
StepDogg

nice riv...yeah, naming parks right now is pretty pointless but having hunches makes things fun.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:31 PM Permalink
StepDogg

there are only about 2 billion hills in st. paul...that would sure qualify as "working your legs and killing time"!

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:32 PM Permalink
rivvraft

Right, just keep all your ideas in check and when the time comes your ready to hit the right park.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:34 PM Permalink
ares

well step, you can leave out the 1.9 billion hills that aren't in a park.

I keep wondering about the HI exclusion. My guess is that the clues that follow will reference the river and the clue writer wanted to get it out in the open that HI will NOT be the place....therefore, based on this hunch, the treasure will be at a park that is near the river.

I would again like to state that the first clue is extremely poorly written. especially the second and third lines

"Let the medallion search in you light a spark

Far and wide take your hunt, have no fear"

These lines make some grammatical sense when read alone, but when read together they don't flow very well.

I also noticed that if you take the last word from each of the four lines it reads Here Spark Fear Park.

Hidden Falls

So here goes another brow knitting idea.

What if it's hidden at Mounds and the clue is telling us to stay off the "hills" unless we want to waste time?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 1:38 PM Permalink
Med2k

Couldn't the knit your brow refer to maybe what it's hidden in, possibly a wool hat, knitted and covers your brows
