2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

These are the parks that I have eliminated in my mind. Mostly due to a lack of hills and woods (some have trees, but not what I would call woods), and sometimes for other reasons as well. Anyone have a reason to dispute any of these?

  • Arlington Hills
  • Baker
  • Belvedere
  • Boyd
  • Burns
  • Capitol Mall
  • Carty
  • Cayuga Square
  • Dayton's Bluff
  • Desnoyer
  • Dunning Field
  • Duluth & Case
  • Eastview
  • Edgecumbe
  • Eileen Weida
  • El Rio Vista and Park Castillo
  • Front Street
  • Griggs
  • Groveland
  • Hamline
  • Harriet Island
  • Hayden Heights
  • Hazel
  • Homecroft
  • Horton
  • Iris
  • Irvine
  • Jimmy Lee
  • Kellogg
  • Langford
  • Lawson & Rice
  • Lewis
  • Marydale
  • Mears
  • West Minnehaha
  • Martin Luther King
  • Mattocks
  • Mounds
  • Newell
  • North Dale
  • Orchard
  • Palace
  • Prosperity
  • Rice
  • Scheffer
  • South St. Anthony
  • St. Clair
  • Sylvan
  • Tilden
  • Valley
  • Wilder

The dictionary has the meaning of knit as: To draw (the brow)together in wrinkles:furrow. As in thinking hard?

    Terry

Why is Mounds in that list? There's woods and some hills there.

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 8:58 PM Permalink
    Allison Wonderland

Thats Mounds park as opposed to Indian Mounds park which is actually a different one. Mounds is just a little afterthought of a park.

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 8:58 PM Permalink
    Allison Wonderland

como, as much as I hate to say it, is still a vague possibility because it does have plenty of hills and wooded areas that could fit the clues thus far.

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 8:58 PM Permalink
    Wicked Nick

Yeah...i should correct myself too..Indian Mounds park....i like that place.

Allison, you did't buy into the Palace discussion going on in here earlier?

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 9:00 PM Permalink
    Allison Wonderland

If there are no objections to the previous list, that leaves the following grouped in terms of what I at least think of as likely, somewhat likely, and vaguely possible:

    • Battle Creek
    • Phalen
    • Arlington-Arkwright
    • Cherokee Heights
    • College
    • Crosby Farm
    • Highland
    • Hidden Falls
    • Indian Mounds
    • Linwood
    • Merriam
    • Sackett
    • Como
    • Conway
    • Frost Lake
    • Highwood Hills
    • Hillcrest
    • Margaret
    • Swede Hallow

Any thoughts of it being in a spark plug box? In earkier discussions?

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 9:04 PM Permalink
    My Dalliance

AW: I think it was Scribe who liked Palace. There is a mural of the winter carnival ("carnival hunter"). Bay ("tide") St. adjoins. It's below bluffs (down hill). I forget what else.

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 9:05 PM Permalink
    Wicked Nick

yeah, spark plug box is cool...I was thinkin about a box of matches too

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 9:06 PM Permalink
    ares

perhaps the box from a 4-pack of plugs, chris. the medallion is too big to fit in a single box.

    Tue, 01/22/2002 - 9:06 PM Permalink
    Allison Wonderland

I've never been to Prosperity and didn't see them on the map, but if so, then I suppose it could be elevated to "vague possibility" ;-)

    it was scribe, dal.

Just becasue the clue mentioned far from woods didn't necessarily mean far from woods in that park. It could mean a park without woods, couldn't it?

That what I was thinking a box of four. I beleive with lack of snow they will describe the contents or how hidden before they tip us to the location.
