Wow, I was looking for some sort of marines connection... Maybe I'll go check that park out tonight, I'm going to kinda stick around the downtown and south of dowtown areas tonight
So whereabouts is riverfront park? I can't see it at the park and rec site? Is it near harriett island? or is it the park along the north side of the river, just below downtown?
mrmnmikey was talking about "the riverfront park across the river from PP" that he said was adopted by the Marines. All I can think of is that he was talking about Harriet and there's some kind of sign/plaque there.
I think there have always been rumors of a Riverfront park that's like below the bluffs of Indian Mounds. I think it might really be little more than a bike path though. I doubt that would be the place though as I can't imagine what sort of shelter would be there.
oh my Gosh you guys i've been such an occasional lurker, I just started a new job and it's killin me! the time I do have to come in is spent SLOGGIN! Anyway- HAPPY BIRTHDAY AW!!! I think I am coming down to Ma P on Thursday- I hope to see some of you from last year.
just my noodling with what I have read (slogged) through the thought that some people had with the med being hidden near a Ma P box sounds good to me. They all have the vew of the cap dome right? Plus, a lot of bus shelters have the paper boxes near them. I think these first clues are cluing us into the actual hiding place, not the park... any thoughts??
oh- and in case anyone cares- my noodle of the first clue (in case anyone cares)... last year everyone pissed and moaned about the broadness and simplicity of the clues- so I think that Ma P is just saying- ok, you complained enough, hard clues you want- hard clues you'll get. I mean- hasn't the first clue always basically stated "it's in a St. Paul park" in some way or another?
There's a certain pattern that tends to happen every year, but every year there also seems to be an exception to whatever rules you might have thought there were. Usually they have a clue telling you what it's hidden in. Last year they didn't. Generally they'll give you clues to which park before they give you clues to where in the park, but quite often there will be crossover there as something that tells you where in the park will also tell you which park. Usually they say it's in a park, usually they say it's in St. Paul or Ramsey County, but sometimes they don't. I guess the moral of the story is it's a bit dangerous to put too much faith into hoping that the clues will follow any sort of rules.
Anyway, I need to head out to my birthday party. I should be at Buggs with Jake and them around 9:30 and at the PP by 10:30 or quarter to 11. See you guys then.
I sometimes agree with you wolf, I mean seeing all of the people already out there digging the parks. It's the whole if you have a million monkeys at a million typewriters rule... someone would trip over it!
oh yeah wolf- I know they didn't say at a St. Paul park- but the puck is parked among us led me to that assumption. Assumption= Ass out of U and Me : )
Looks like we're still where we were when we went to bed last night...all over the place.
Happy Birthday, Allison!!!! (And if 35 is over the hill, I don't even want to think what I am.)

Can we get more details on the Marines thing? Is that Harriet Island? What did you see there?
How and why is Buggs???

Buggs is a bar in South St. Paul on Concord. You can get a map at Citysearch: http://twincities.citysearch.com/profile/5513594/Check out the user review on there (I didn't write it).
Was mrmnmikey talking about Harriet? Wake 'im up and ask 'im.
I found a Riverside Park:
http://www.friendsoftheparks.org/riverside.htm
There was no Riverfront Park. Riverside Park seems to maybe be part of Highland or something.
Hmm.. maybe I'll do a search for marine corps park adoptions....

I wonder what happened to that park's parents?

Usually, but not always.

Hope to get online again tonite after Buffy. Talk to y'all later....
I may be a newbie here, but I'm no newbie to forums, discussion groups, IMs, BBSs, IRC, or any multiple forms of online communications :)
so what do you think AW? Is the usual format: stating a st. paul park, stating the rules, narrowing down the park, narrowing down the hiding place?

Happy B-Day and Happy Hunting!
i still say its a safe assumption, slim.
Oh boy. Medallionator groupies?
jake! why didn't you tell us you had a girl?
Is she a waitress at Buggs?
I don't know if they have waitresses at Buggs. I've only been there once though.
hmmmm....seems med 88 knows his every move - could there be two who do??
does buggs have pulltabs??? beer?? popcorn?? tells us more=P
rrr
does he know Jake's every move though? I remember him coming on here asking "WHERE'S JAKE?"
From what I can tell, Buggs has pulltabs, beer and popcorn. a few videogames, some pool tables, a few dart boards. Can't remember what else.
Trust me, my cat Jake is not interested in girls.
thats pretty much it, kids
Good Evening! I've slogged and caught up!

Check out #3879, execept that that bit about going late into the clues.
Evenin' Heads!
I've missed a TON o'good (?) info!
I'm shure I'm way off base on this, but...
Methinks today's clue is talking about you can also see the Cathedral dome (besides being able to see the Capital dome...)
And that *possibly* you gotta look south to see these two things - that's the "keep yourself warm/dead o'winter" thighys.
And, FWIW, *I* think The Clues were written by Larry Millett.
me
What is your point on clue #3879, 2K3?
No, wait!
You'd have to look "north" - gotta keep to the south. Yeah, I think that's better.
Oh, HELL!! I HATE these clues!!! LOL!!!
Oh, and I did some searching... There's NO skiing/that-usual-cross county-ski thighy at Battle Creek *this* year.
Couldn't find one widdo itty-bitty thing going on there this year... :D
Not to mention......

#16372, man I hope I have this kind of accuracy this year....
