I think that's it for me tonight. I promised myself I'd hit the sheets at midnight. Work in the morning.

Goodnight, SCDs and happy noodling.

Does anyone have the website address for a list of parks/maps/descriptions? I have a new laptop this year and I don't have the bookmarks from my previous laptop loaded, yet. Thanks:-)

Thank You! I remember looking it up recently also. The Gates Ajar at Como remind me of an arbor, and the frozen lake and the waterfall could be water and ice.

On the Bruce Vento trail (which is by Phalen, right?), there is a grove of trees named for him.

Also, he was known for his commitment to nature. Maybe he is the impressive arbor(ist). (A total stretch, I know).

The Bruce Vento Regional Trail runs from Maplewood to St Paul. It crosses the Gateway and continues south to the southern end of Phalen Park, then continues along Phalen Boulevard and through Swede Hollow to its terminus near Seventh Street. Another spur off of Phalen Boulevard continues west, going over a long bridge that crosses very active railroad tracks, and terminates at I-35E. The section north of the Gateway has a lot of small road crossings so it is not great for speed skating but it makes a great recreational skate. This trail is great for any length of skate as you can connect from there to the Gateway or make a loop around Lake Phalen.

I spent a bunch of time in the sanctuary last year. In the parking area, there are signs for the construction of the park and for the different types of flora and fauna one might see there. It is right on the river and the trails take you up close to the bottom of the hill next to Mounds and also closer to the river. It is pretty flat and open because it is being replanted. There are big trees on the cliff side of the park, however. And, the parking area is full of trees. Almost everything in the park is natural, but it is right next to downtown, so it isn't like you can't see big buildings, the bridge, etc.

The clues seem to fit Swede ok, but I can't believe they would ever put it there. Hidden Falls and Crosby have a shot yet, but this clue is definitely pushing me towards Battle Creek now.

Swede Hollow would be perfect for Millet and his book, but I'm not certain it would fit as well for Boxmeyer.

Well this clue narrows it down to a few dozen.

Zeph.. damn you got me looking at IM. Also like the up front = Frank St noodle.

Also like the safe harbor=sanctuary

I like Bruce Vento but with it being a nature sanctuary I don't think the PP would have everyone going over and digging up all the new plants and trees over there. The same with Swede Hollow, the Saint Paul garden club has planted a lot of stuff there.

I hate water and tree references... vague...

A natural harbor of arbor, all done naturally, with water and ice....could describe the ox-bow lakes in the north end of that cute little park by Irondale,(Long Lake) which has "Kingsway" as a street next to it....

Harbor of impressive arbor.

Arborvitae? They are usually tall and in rows in old parks and cemeteries.

Approach and have no fear?

Cemetery nearby?

Are there any places where Lombardy poplars are planted? They can look quite impressive.

I think approach and have no fear might mean it is a safe area, not near cliffs, no need to walk into pokey branches, etc.

My thoughts on this clue:

"All we see was done naturally"- Refers to either a nature preserve or a park that was not landscaped.

"Water and ice are here"- I tend to believe water means that there is a stream/creek/river that doesn't freeze completely, which gives the water and ice.

"In this harbor of impressive arbor"- There are big trees in the park. When I see impressive, I think impressive in size and not really anything else

"Approach and have no fear"- I like Leelabell's noodle of a sanctuary for this, although with the explanation of previous hunts recently not every line will have a meaning.

Water and ice are here

If a solid surface is chilled below the dew point of the surrounding air and the surface itself is colder than freezing, frost will form on the surface. Frost consists of spicules of ice which grow out from the solid surface. The size of the crystals depends on time, temperature, and the amount of water vapor available.

"Water and ice" also anagrams to "I went Arcade," but I think that's more of a stretch

Interesting noodle from the PP board..

"All we see" could be a loose anagram for "Swede Hollow"

hmm

Good morning everyone.

I have everything packed up in the car in case I need to go hunting.

Most likely will wait until tonight's clue though.

Uncertain.

For me its a 45 minute drive and in all reality I doubt clue 4 will send me flying to the park at midnight to find it.

At this early in the game if the clue is great I will be at the park at the crack of dawn where I can take advantage of the sunlight.
