from what I heard AT THE WAKE - FROM BOX'S KIDS - they didn't know he wrote the clues. I'm pretty sure. so beware what you read if its not in the Cooler. hmmmmmm
Govenor's Fishing Opener is on WBL this spring. Maybe they want to bring some attention to the area? Foussard's motel is there and
Foussard chairs "Explore White Bear," a volunteer group promotingthe greater White Bear Area. He is on the board of the WhiteBear Lake Marketfest and Manitou Days organizations, .........
I have the book and have a relative that did time with Thompson.
I was engulfed in the story years ago. amazing aweful story. I ALWAYS think of her when my kids go to school and I would go in and lay on my bed on my tummy. She ran some bath water and went in and layed on her bed reading a magazine. the guy came in and tried to drown her (among other stuff). he thought she was dead. She walked barefoot to a neighbors house - the neighbor didnt even recognize her at first from all the crusty blood. horrible
I don't know why, but "contests waged of yore" made me think Keller Golf Course where PGA events were once held (St Paul Open). Fits with the "fore" at the end of the clue.
Oh my god, it's clue 2 for cripes sake, what am I doing!!! :pbpt:
A long time friend and I saw him shortly after he was released. I wish I could remember where - but we both noticed him, turned to each other and just about dropped our teeth.
It's an amazing story. It was kind of an end of innocence in St. Paul. Murders didn't happen in Highland Park, especially to an attorney's wife. And then to find out he had paid to have it done was startling.
His children held a mock trial years later and found him guilty. Sad. One of his sons is now a judge somewhere in MN.
I always thought about what I would do if my Dad had done something that horrendous. I felt so bad for those kids. Mother dead and father the cause of it.
His picture and articles about the trial were in the paper for what seemed a very long time.
You know... I know I am not the only one he mentionede this to the night he came to the PDG, but he had always wanted to do a park back to back... Also, the history IS a mystery at Mounds, it is only suspected that the mounds originally came from the Hopewell Indians...
I am not saying this is it, but it's another possibility... :eyeroll:
Ma Barker had a house in West St Paul too. Still standing, I posted a pic a long time ago somewhere on here. Or someone else did... don't remember. On Robert Street.
