Interesting thought that front could refer to a frontage road. Not too many parks have something that would be considered one of those. BC, maybe Merriam, maybe Linwood.
suck at slogging, way too busy to go through it all, i'll be lucky to keep up at all this year.
my thought was como for the only reason that what is the story we all tell the most? the "blair witch hunt" at como. or the fact that it was in como twice fairly quickly.
tramping hill and dell (a valley with trees) could refer to the bizarre terrain that is como as well.
I can live with a Como Hunt. I was there all last year, and I got a new appreciation for the path from my house to Como. White Castle, for example. If Como isn't the largest park in Ramsey County by Acreage, it is certainly the most feature-rich. Zoo. Conservatory. Broomball. Baseball. Picnics. Mini-golf. Real golf. XC and downhill skiing. Lake. Bandshell. Cafe. Paddleboats. Weddings. Lordy, they could hold it in Como every year, and we'd still have a hunt.
So, no reason to rule out Como. I Remember being at Harriet on clue 10 or so only to find out it's at Como. At any point, it could be Como.
Italian Seasoning! Just had to throw that out there....My mom thinks that EVERYTHING needs about 1/2 a jar of italian seasoning to make it taste good...It's horrible....I won't even use the stuff I'm afraid I'll over dose if I use it at home as well as consume it at her house.
hope you and everyone else feels good soon (my devious plan to get everyone sick!) geeesh, what gives? everyone is coming down with colds. weird. You were looking good at pre-dig.
It's too early for me to be sold on any one park, but clue 2 just sticks Highland in my mind. I like the noodles I've seen for Battle Creek, and I don't know if I'll EVER want to hunt at Cono again.
I think I'm getting a sinus cold or something from the drastic change in weather. Not only that but with in 36 hours of being home the dry air here is making my skin all peely and yucky...I wanna go back! I'm going to win the lottery someday and buy a house on a tropical island...
I think I'm going to go lay down for a bit if I'm still awake in 2 1/2 hours I'll stop back in...This year I think the hunt is going to be really weird, normally the hunt is something that gives me something to do other than homework. I'm really lost in the evenings with out homework to do and my head is killing me from all the novels I've been reading lately to make up for hte lack of text book reading lol. I get tired a lot earlier in the evenings now.
My great great grandma was the last surviving survivor. got cool newspaper articles and the original Fire book from the Reverend. I also bought a Chicago newspaper from the days when it happened back in 1894. Great great grandma was 8 1/2 mo preggos and got on the last train without great great grandpa. All they left with was the family bible which I have today. I really like to talk about the fire - its interesting with how fast it traveled and the aftermath of the crisp death.
While reading all the Boxmeyer/Millet stuff, one of them, I think Millet, wrote about early carnival actvities that used to be at WBL; one was people took cars on the lake (I think it was cars) and there would be an airplane shot of the group making designs like a star. One year the group made a group shot of an iron lung to call attention to the polio epidemic. I'll try to refind that link....
So what he is saying is Hi-ho the "reference to song or prose"-o
kinda
Or a short form of the town of Londonderry.
Either way worx fer me
Heigh ho, the dairy-o, a hunting we will go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
We'll catch a fox and put him in a box,
And then we'll let him go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
Heigh ho, the dairy-o, a hunting we will go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
We'll catch a fish and put him on a dish,
And then we'll let him go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
Heigh ho, the dairy-o, a hunting we will go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
We'll catch a bear and cut his hair,
And then we'll let him go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
Heigh ho, the dairy-o, a hunting we will go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
We'll catch a pig and dance a little jig,
And then we'll let him go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
Heigh ho, the dairy-o, a hunting we will go!
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go,
We'll catch a giraffe and make him laugh,
And then we'll let him go!

He also said it was buried because it was at rest. I'll give him partial credit on that part.

I've become a lot less comophobic.
I even think they can stay out of the woods this year.
I mentioned to someone at the PDG that the missing span on that one bridge is no longer missing. It's been replaced.
There is also a new parking lot out there.
That park continues to evolve. We're so lucky that land was set aside over a century ago.
Variety is the spice of life.
What is the spice of death??? I don't want to accidentally put it in my spaghetti.
everyone has to pay to post and everyone knows eachother in some context here.
I don't want that one again. Nasty, long lasting yucky cold.
Throwing in one more plug for white bear in clue 2(I know it's waaay to early...but) contest could also reference the sailboats, yaught club et al,
and- my favorite
Much of the history remains a mystery
Which we hope to bring to the fore- wasnt white bear town and lake named after an ojibwe legend of an appearing bear?
...I just needed to get that plug in before midnight when I'm thinking Highland.
my great great grandparents survived the fire too
if they didn't I wouldn't be here.

Was a cold case for 27 years.
Will tell Rd south of BC, near Taylor park
Millett is a mystery writer
parks with little known about it - Cherokee and Mounds and Highland
we don't know what ever happened to Phalen
BC had Battle at Coulee
Someone may have mentioned that already.....
however - IF Coleman wrote these clues we now know that "much of the history remains a mystery" is just plain ITS IN ST PAUL!
