2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

Just spoke with one of Ramsey County's finest near johana lake beach. Told me to make sure I look in all the garbage cans and under the picnic tables.

there is a shamrock market at the south end of BC on McKnight

It's very small and will never be hidden there, although it would be the ultimate prank for a cluewriter to play if they could pull it off.

I've had a couple non BC parks that I've thought were strong contenders. But with work we haven't had the chance to get out to even scout yet.

I wonder where people will be when this gets sorted out on the 12th clue.

CLUE NO. 7

Search the land through darkest night;

Follow the crowd to the treasure's site.

Wear warm clothes, and don't come to harm.

And bring along your good luck charm.

If it is BC and the clue is referencing Shamrock, I gotta give props to the CW for managing to find a way to incorporate it into the hunt after all these years of the "Shamrock" mania on the boards. Much of which I helped along (all in good fun of course).

McKnights were Scottish, not Irish

I know there used to be and assume there still are horse shoes at Langford and across from Scheaffer Rec Center.

There is a Shamrock Plaza (strip mall) at McKnight and Lower Afton.
Fri, 01/27/2012 - 9:43 PM Permalink

I did try that, but didn't find anything that worked.

The only way that works is that the medallion site is away from city light pollution.

Maybe I'm being to literal.

Technically, the "darkest night" would be a night where there's a total lunar eclipse.

It looks like it could be both?:
http://home.centurytel.net/ctn19580/SRCMEANINGOFSURNAME.html

The name MacNaughtan

in Ireland is spelled McKnight.

When the stream of emigration from the colonies to Scotland and Ireland took

place about 1700 to 1750 those from Ireland (Ulster Scots) were the ancestors

of the McKnights now in the United States. Those coming to the colonies

directly from Scotland carried the name MacNaughton, MacNaught or McKnight."

I am disappointed in this clue.

It's definately lacking. Sounds like a 3rd clue without much to chew on.

I agree  Though I think that last name had some confusion of where it was from back in the day lol

The McKnights themselves may have been Scottish but Irish immigrants were constantly dubbed by the derogatory term "Mc"

is it me or is the fact that they mixed up the letters for the scramble indicate we should be looking for an anagram?
Fri, 01/27/2012 - 9:54 PM Permalink
MrsMGhunter

Wow, nice!

Or maybe the CW wants us to stop off at the Shamrock plaza and pick up some 3-2 for the hunt? :pbpt:

Evil - I've tried a few and didn't find anything really. Though that might produce something more than the fluff of this clue.
