2012 Clues
So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.
Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.
I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

Will be in the park tomorrow barring anything unforeseen. Today was full of those.

"IF" clue two hints at the triple score, say the score that Arden Hills made when it became a city (TCAAP, and three existing neighborhoods from neighboring cities)
and if we were to take red and blue to mean the potential they had for the vikings to come there (damn traffic anyhow)
and clue three were to hint at McCracken, and the interfacial (rail)road between TSP and Perry...
clue four brang usElmer L Andersen and his dang love of books,
and clue five reiterated McCracken from earlier, adding CHATham and brighto(e)n way and potentially the train tracks because no one was getting it yet...
six was to say "as you like it" in Arden (hills) forest -
bored you enough to bother with 7....
What do you get for clue 4 (part 2) that mentions all of that Roman stuff???
Saint Valentine, according to romantic legend, was a kind-hearted Roman priest who married young couples against the wishes of Emperor Claudius II, and was beheaded for his deeds on the 14th of February. In truth, the exact origins and identity of St. Valentine are unclear. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, "At least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under the date of 14 February." Two of these men lived in the third century A.D., one being the bishop of Interamna (now Terni, Italy) and the other a priest of Rome. (Some speculate that these two figures were actually the same man.) Both seem to have been persecuted for their beliefs; the Roman priest reportedly was beaten and then beheaded on the orders of Emperor Claudius II, on or about the year 270. Legends vary on how the martyr's name became connected with romance: the date of his death may have become mingled with the feast of Lupercalia, a pagan festival of love, or with the ancient belief that birds first mate in the middle of February. In modern times Valentine's Day is a day of special romantic sentiment and gift-giving among lovers.
Also I have noticed threads pop up on the public boards wondering where jake and I are digging. Worried there could be crossover from here, guess it shouldn't matter but I would rather my whereabouts not be public by someone simply logging into here and announcing it over there.
2000: Charles Perry Park (Arden Hills)
Join the hiking group for a hike in the varied terrain and scenery at the Charles Perry Park in Arden Hills. In 1850, Charles Perry (1816-1904,) originally from Switzerland, was the first settler to break ground in the area, planting potatoes on three acres next to Lake Johanna. During this time, the area was part of Mounds View Township. Aurelie Morissette (1828-1913,) the daughter of Jean Baptiste Joseph Morissette and Françoise Letendre, who came to Vadnais Heights from Quebec in 1847, first married Pierre Theroux, in 1847 in St. Paul, ang then married secondly, in a Catholic ceremony in 1849, to Charles Perry, with whom she had 13 children. The prior marriage between Morissette and Theroux was apparently annulled. Theroux drowned in Lake Vadnais in 1857. In 1906, Joseph Hackey, a State Senator and a millionaire, built a hobby farm called Arden Farms, which eventually formed the basis for the City's name. In 1941, the federal government purchased 2,530 acres of farmland for the establishment of an ammunition manufacturing site. In response to annexation requests by the City of New Brighton, in 1951, three residential areas and the ammunition site incorporated and became the city of Arden Hills.
I believe we"ll be at Gabes tonight...
I like Terry's noodle about Rome, but I also like the whole obscure Viking player thing.
