Nice pics 3M. I love the lake here too. Plenty of fish, we have a Bald Eagle that is always around and the wind that comes off of it makes for good kite flying.

Oh yeah and then there is mama sitting on her nest .

Otis - I thought the mama in the photo at first was a large fish (I am clearly blind) and then couldn't figure out how a fish, could nest out of water.

Definately protecting baby geeses!!!

tc could probably feed our baby geese with her bare hands. they come right up to us. in fact last year's goslings were left with her while mama and daddy chased off the others. since this years mama is one of last year's babies, that explains a lot of it. well, there's that and the fact that she's sitting out there feeding them all day long.

when I was a kid, the ducks and geese on our lake would be repeats of the year before's babies. They would come and sit in my lap (until one crapped one day, then I wasn't down with it) and let us feed them out of our hands, off of our feet.. etc.

I had a pet turkey that lived in my house, and would follow my x-husband around thinking he was the momma. It used a litterbox and everything. pretty amazing little sucker.

and I'm still working on getting a group together for the 2nd season. If they do it right, this show will take off because they are releasing it right after The Davinci Code breaks theaters. This way we can kinda see what challenges are ahead. I am expecting they want us to figure out why stonehenge is standing and dechyper egyptian murals. Maybe a little Jewel of the Nile adventure.

enjoy: tc being a good samaritan on the freeway today. some dude was driving his van way too fast into the construction zone through lakeville, he ended up rolling end over end off the embankment at cr50. fortunately, he was able to kind of walk away, with possibly a broken arm.

this is the second time we've rendered aid in lakeville. a week and a half ago we were going to fleet farm to get some corn for the geese, and a guy had just pulled his flaming motorcycle into the parking lot of the fire station down there. naturally, no one was around because they were out on a controlled burn somewhere, so yours truly dumped a pile of cigarette butts from the ash tower on their front lawn, thinking the thing was full of sand that could have been poured on the flames to put them out.

serves the fire department right for a) not having anyone at the firehouse and b) smoking.

that woulda been cool to see!

Good job Mrs Chest!

When I drive on the highway, I sometimes imagine the truck in the next lane over will lose the tractor off the back and flip over OR someone that decides its this moment that they want to die and they drive right off the bridge in front of me. Especially after 9/11... when I would drive into downtown on the highway, I'd invision a plane, en route to Holman airfield, crash into the St Paul World Trade Center.

I had a truck loose a load of lumber right in front of me once on Wakota Bridge. Fortunately there was a lot of traffic and no one was going very fast. Still unsettling.

I think the original span is going to be used for East bound traffic. Like the Hudson bridge over the St. Croix. The new one is for West bound. At least that's what I understand. It's going to open in October!!

When I woke up that morning, and turned on the TV - still half asleep, trying to get ready for work, I heard something about the trade center being hit by a plane, and that was my first thought, was the one in DT Saint Paul.... "Sh*T! My mom works there!"..... not a fun time at all....

Enjoy all that has happened in one year. Finding love for a lifetime. Getting promoted twice. Moving to a great place. Getting a niece.

I remember for our first date, Coco made sauerkraut potatoes. I ate them even though I hate sauerkraut. It was an eventful evening, not how we planned our first date, but things happened that brought us together and here we are. Some things are meant to be, and we realized it pretty quickly.

Also enjoy the people who have been supportive of everything that's happened in this past year. Sad that things had to happen the way they did in the past year. People have left us unfortunately, and I hope that they can come back. I hope that relationships haven't been too hurt. I hope that some people have been greatly involved find the happiness they need and are searching for. There have been people who have needed help, and thank you to those who have been there for those people. I hope that wounds have healed and things are going in a better direction for everyone here. I wish everyone the happiness that I've found, and that I know others have found. Keep doing the right thing and good things will come.

Sauerkraut.... man, I thought I worked a miracle when I got Ares to eat broccoli.... Coco, you rock sister!

What an amazing day! That man in the accident should be dead... rolled that van end over end. All the windows were shattered and the air bags deployed... there was no where that van wasn't crunched. I tried to get to the guy but couldn't as the van had landed passenger side down... then some guy climbed down from the hill and joined me... he climbed on top the van and entered through the passenger window... pushed the guy out while I tried to pull him from the broken passenger window. Thank god I had my cell phone... handed it to my mom as I left the van and she called 911. It was like it happened in slow motion... could see the guy lose control and start to swerve... and just run right off the road and roll down the embankment. Think that guy had an angel as a passenger! He walked away. Amazing! He was bleeding from his arm and may have broken it or his wrist... but to walk away from a wreck like that... a miracle!
