irritates: Modern Country Music

We have a radio at work that kind of 'broadcasts' over half the plant. One of the girls that works closest to it has been playing K102 the last couple of days.

Country music grew out of Blues - the same roots as rock 'n roll.

Modern country uses the same bluesy lyrics - but they've attached it to happy chipper beat music. I have no love for any song that sounds like a square dance - no matter how good the lyrics are. Someone tried a modern cover tune of Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town" - one word - fail!

The other kind - the 'sad' country songs - are all the same - the only thing different is the voice of the singer crying over the same piano music.

Granted, rock 'n roll has already grown from infancy to adultery and made some awful stuff (read: RAP), but, my GAWD, this country stuff is HIDEOUS!

Have you been watching that Nashville Star show, on NBC on Mondays?

I don't care about any of those shows - I have NEVER watched more than 6 minutes of ANY American Idol episode. Really, how is Nashville Star any different?

I think overall I'm just plain fed up with 'reality' programming. Each of those shows was interesting for the first season, but every season after it is THE EXACT SAME THING.

I'm more happy watching re-runs of Carol Burnett than any new reality TV show.

Im gonna try out for Idol next season...

I'll be the fat kid who shows up, wearing a banana costume....

and then later on, I'll complain about how Simon is "racist against fruit"....

however there is some really good country/pop music out there - mostly because the person singing the pop style has a southern accent.

my coworker has also been playing ALOT of K102 lately- I noticed how aweful it was - I heard the northern town one and didn't think it was so bad but there was so much 'non pop' twangy crap lately.

Here's the picture caps frome the parking ramp cameras, showing the guys who broke into my car. The building manager told me the time is off between the two cameras (one in the stairwell and one on the exit).

In the video, you can see one kid running the opposite way, and the other runs past the exit camera. Looks like they were there about 2 minutes total.

You can't make out my car too well, it's on the other side of the slope, of course, no camera angles from that vantage point.

and NO reason for it?

As I drove through Cherokee Park yesterday morning I noticed EVERY garbage can was tipped over and trash all over! WTH!

It was all cleaned up when I drove through today.

oh, I'm sure they wanted to help themselves to anything in my car. Good thing the horn and lights go off when you open the door without a key, that appears to have scared them off.

Well I know the spots in the ramp where you can catch them without being caught on video....

not sure if it's a summer cold, or the worst allergies of my life, but i've been battling watery eyes and stuffy nose with uncontrolable sneezing for the past week.

last night I woke up at 3:33 (of all things) sneezing - like 20 something times in a row - to the point where my head hurt, and I couldn't breathe - it even scared my roomate and he came in to find me sitting up in bed with watery eyes panting.

icky.

I won't go into details as it would take too long to type. Let's just say that I'm physically, mentally and emotionally drained. The last 2 weeks have taken their toll on this guys body and mind. I feel as if I could pass out from exhaustion at any moment.

The good news is that I have medical coverage as of yesterday and spent 3 hours in the clinic being picked and prodded until they found a solution. Hopefully these antibiotics will do the trick. No improvement so far. :frown:

Vino and ClueMaster, I hope you both feel much better soon!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.

Vino, I suppose the smoke out there makes everything else that much worse.

Thanks 3M - I can't wait to shake this. I know I'll probably be this overcharged freak once I get my energy back. At least I didn't get worse today so it might mean the antibiotics are starting to work anyway.

People..

I go for months trying to be included in plans, only usually to find out about things last minute.. actually worse than last minute, usually it's after the fact. Then I go for months not having a clue as to what's going on with anyone. Then, I get a day like today, where everybody contacts me within a couple hours and wants to do something.

Seriously, I don't get it... I just get used to being ignored so much, I make my own plans, then, just when I have that figured out, those get screwed up.. blah!
