Our company let a couple of sweet old ladies go today. They were real characters and a ball to work round - but the contract manufacturing job they finished was a dead end, with no renewals in sight. They were helping out in other departments to keep busy, but that never lasts when you're looking at big budget cuts.
I feel kinda like a heel demanding computer upgrades for our department, but we've hit a wall and need to upgrade to keep going. I don't see us shutting down anytime soon, but we're not exactly drowning in work either.
Initial treatment generally involves resting the affected hand and wrist for at least 2 weeks, avoiding activities that may worsen symptoms, and immobilizing the wrist in a splint to avoid further damage from twisting or bending.
:frown:
jk
Go in already! You have coverage. Chop Chop!!
Your wrist needs to be in top working condition ASAP!
Minds out of the gutter guys - she types all day for gawds sake. :eyeroll:
Mrs. Mad has tendonitis / carpal tunnel right now. Walgreens sells a velcro wrist wrap that can be wrapped around either wrist for about $10. Any other more expensive model is exclusively left or right handed.
My wife went to the doc and she got a special wrist brace - yeah, special my freakin eye! It's the EXACT SAME THING as a wrist brace you would commonly wear for rollerblading! We have TWO of them in the house already! I guess the metal plate helps restrict movement just enough to let it heal.
I picked up a pair of wrist restraining gloves at a compusa a while back.. they actually did help. Hope you're doin okay me2. My wrist has been hurtin this week too (I've been doing a lot more typing than normal).
Lol, the irony is I'm typing messages in here... uhhh....
being HOMELESS again in less then a week And Now looking at buying a foreclosed home online!!! I just applied to get pre approved to see what they would like to give me!!! lol Nothing Like the rest of the bizz. out there!!! lol
j, i can give you some tips on how to type to avoid future damage. seems to me the way they teach intentionally puts pressure on that nerve, so if that's how you type, unlearn that method asap!
In a class I took not too long ago, it was mentioned more than once that a keyboard should be used flat and ideally tipped so that you keep your wrists a bit arched up and not down. Think about how you would play a piano. No slouching wrists.
Be sure to mention the problem to your supervisor. They should have folks on staff or someone they can get in from the outside to be sure your desk, chair, keyboard and the things you reach for are in good places for your specific work, height, etc.
Our town home association has a hailstone storm claim with American Family Insurance. A lot of our buildings have crappy shingles and ALL need to be replaced. Apparently the settlement was "not satisfactory", so they are "working with a law firm" to settle the claim.
On Sept. 20th last year we had a hail storm associated with a large wall cloud that briefly created an F-0 tornado on the south side of Woodbury. Where I live, we had twenty continuous minutes of LARGE hailstones falling. Here's a photo I took of some after the storm went through...
I have a feeling the insurance company is claiming the shingles were sh*tty to begin with, so they only paid a small fraction of the total replacement cost. Meanwhile my roof looks like soggy cardboard, and it's only a matter of time before I get water leaking into the walls and ceilings.
The real topper is that the single-family homes next door have been getting all of their roofs replaced by THEIR association. They've gotten about a dozen houses patched or completely replaced in the last two weeks.
I sent the association an e-mail of this photo, along with a half dozen links to other sites and youtube videos (including the official NOAA report page listing the tornado) that ALL show hail fell in Woodbury on Sept. 20, 2007.
The association is planning a "Membership Meeting" in September. I think I'm gonna get a block party organized for National Night Out in August ahead of time and light some fires under some feet. Sound like an idea?
(this is from last night) I was in golf league with my partner, and you swap people for your team - I got stuck with the head of the league and he's well, not a very nice person - he was standing over my shoulder the entire time, clucking at me!
(for the record - I'm not a 'great' golfer but usually shoot between 90 and 100 on 18holes, and last match, I got closest to the pin, with 6' 4")
so, after him clucking at me, and me pounding a couple beers - the 'evil' sunny came out. I pretty much threw or match - on a hole where I could have easily drove the ball the 110 yards or so down to the green - I'd club up, so I'd over drive it, or not use a full swing, etc etc etc.
I'm pretty sure he has at least 5 new gray hairs thanks to me last night. We came in DEAD last. hahahahaha
nah. not for the sake of this place going away; i think mark and tim have a much better business plan than that. i can just make the process easier (i.e., more feasible).
No need to go into details, other than to say it's not job related.

It just happened so quickly -I really didn't know what was happening.

even with dates
I can put "me2" in the search engine and dates of 7/2006 through 7/2007 and get No matching items were found.
I have a post in to sysop wondering why.
agrivating
You know losing memory is a sign of, um, something, ah... it's sign of... um,...
Darn it! Left my keys in the freezer again!
me2 is losing it. One thread she's thanking us for being great friends and the other thread she's irritated by us.
Something feels wrong in me :frown:
Do you think any of this is part of the grieving process you are still going through? Stress and depression can make one feel horrible.
I wish there was something I could do to take that from your shoulders.
