Sad: quitting recruiting. I feel kind of loserish to leave things incomplete. But too many desparate people, too many heartbreaking stores weigh on my concience...It's a burden. The alternative would be for me to change my attitude and treat people as a sum of their parts, and judge them solely by whether or not I can make money off of them. But that doesn't make me a very good man.
Heavy emotional stuff for me today.
But, in the grand scheme of things I know it pales compared to what others are going through.
I'll agree with yah Bear - TODAY just plain SUCKS.
even though, like you, the future will pull through and life will be grand in the grand scheme of things.... changes and letting something in your life go to get there, still hurts nuntheless. good luck to you.
"It may look like rain to you but I can see the sun shining"
You will never stub you toe standing still. The faster you go, the more chance there is of stubbing your toe, but the more chance you have of getting somewhere!
Thanks, J. Trying to stay positive and upbeat. Change is hard, especially when you have to fall on your sword and swallow your pride in order to facilitate it.
Well, I resigned on Friday. My boss told me at the time he'd figure out a plan and get back to me. 3:30 on Friday, I get an e-mail from him saying "Thanks for your frankness. I want to reflect on what we talked about over the weekend and reconnect Monday." I get here this morning and he's canceled our normal Monday call. (We aren't in the same building.)
No, they just make it your last day. Technically two weeks is a courtesy, and usu. salespeople/recruiters have the two weeks offer turned down - they don't want you poisoning the candidates or clients. I wouldn't do that, I'm trying to make this amicable - so I'm a little confused if I should be smilin' and dialin'.
you have proof in an e-mail that he hasn't let you go yet. You gave 2 weeks - unless he says you are FIRED you get 2 weeks. It has to be amlicable otherwise they have to fire you??? right? you have 2 weeks unless you leave sooner or an agreement to leave now. good luck bear. call the guy.
Sounds like it's time to start filling that cube with packing peanuts...or (used) White Castle boxes. If you show up - make the MOST of it. Muuuuhahahahahahaaaaa.....
Maybe RB has the George Costanza (Seinfeld) job - where he does't get fired no matter what crap he pulls!
corp am. rolling out new software without testing it, with bad data, and then when you say - it's wrong, you need to fix xxxx they say, there is no time.
so I say.. well then, i'm not using it - here is my xl spreadsheet. good luck figure out my info from this.
Sharing my cubicle space with a co-worker who CONSTANTLY complains about something... It's really making me snippy. This area is not big enough for two people (especially since I have been here alone for 3 years).
programs that are basically written (I think) for IT job security.
My old program (that we still use for wine that goes forward in the system, takes all of 30 seconds to stick a weigh tag in it and push forward for processing)
The NEW program, same info - takes 28 minutes, cause it's not intutiive and everything you have that is words has to be converted to anumber string and looked up. i hate it.
It's pretty standard, I think, because recruiting is such high stress you have to think that the people that choose to leave are different than you, and therefore...nobody really talks to that person. One woman called me today, but that's it. So, I'm basically sitting around with nothing to do, because I can't call candidates or clients (in case I badmouth the organization).
I know what you're thinking. "Finally, a job he's qualified for." But, even getting paid to sit on your ass and not do anything gets boring.
"last" day is tomorrow. Then it's on to the new gig Friday for paperwork and the like.
do you think hitmen/assassins need to do paperwork for their jobs?
like... do they need to go in, and fill out stuff about medical coverage - in the offchance that they accidentally shoot their own foot, or something..
or papers about 401k, and retirement stuff?
do they get vacations? If so, are they paid vacations? which holiday's do they have off?
thanks again for the Help with he resume and stuff I am going to give her a call back at the end of the Week I Know you will be good at your new job Just keep that good helpful attitude up and you wont have a problem!!
I'm seriously thinking about getting out as well. Our sales 'manager' has been suckling on the tit of our biggest customer ever since she started working here. A big fish, mind you, that was landed before she even started.
THAT company had hired a bunch of new people that are basically only good at blaming us for anything they do wrong. Our manager is now bending over backwards to please her star customer (read: her ONLY one) by having US make dozens of free samples and re-printing jobs for even the most minor imperfections. I suck at sales, and suck worse at kissing ass, but even I feel like I could do her job better right now.
Business in general stinks right now; so finding new clients is rough; but how much crap must you take before you can't stand the smell anymore?
Going to be managing townhome associations. Basically customer service and project management. I got the job by dressing down the board where I live in AV in a very polite way (but making them look like fools). After the fact my new boss came up to me because she really wanted to know who the hell I was, and it went forward from there. Felt good to be recruited for once!
Bottom line for me was that all of the individual pain that you all feel (sorry posen) was magnified x. 10/week for me as I met new people. And to then treat those people only as a features/benefits/redflag equation - it was a horrible way to deal with people. but that's the job. I did a lot of good, I think - me2, for one, I'm proud of - but I always felt like I never did enough.
anyway, last day here. New job tomorrow. I feel like I can breathe deeper - that's probably a good sign, right?
Ive thought about it, but..im only funny on paper...
or in a room with like 5-8 people, who I know... as opposed to a room full of people who'm I've never met, and are able to throw things at me, if I dont make them laugh...
Its been a minute, since I had to get up on a stage and act, or whatever...
I used to love doing that - I miss it.....
But I dont think I could ever really do stand-up comedy...
My last road trip. I normally love road trips...this last one sucked! I should say the trip through Ohio both ways sucked the rest was fine. Flat trailer tire on the way out, fried emergency break line for the trailer on the way out and a blown tire on the truck on the way home. Glad to be home!

Good luck Mr. Bear.
So do I keep showing up?
so everybody "times" it right..

Yeah, this place is notorious for not testing new software before implementing it as well. It's always a bad idea.
yikes...

even with CRAP happening...I'm just plain greatful for life.
but, grrrrrrrrr

what about company discounts?
Leaving a place you have enjoyed isn't easy. I'm guessing you will get settled in the new gig and enjoy less stress.

not so much enjoy - this year one of the booths offered Cheese Curds. OMG - I got so excited, I ran up and ordered a Large basket of them.
Then they came... they were HORRIBLE. Like Cheddar Motz sticks. :barf: gave cheese curds a bad name.
why is it that when ever you cook them they are allways over done or burnt or frozen in the center!!!
Weird Al Yankovic Chicken Pot Pie Lyrics
Songwriters: N/A
When we were young, Bernie's deli was down the block.
He made a great liver pate.
(You know he did. You know he did. You know he did.)
But if there's one thing in this world that I like better
Than a corned beef on rye,
It's chicken pot pie. Chicken pot pie.
Chicken pot pie. Chicken pot pie.
(clucking chorus)
PABA, and a couple mf'ers from the ESNDC
or a combination of both.
add to that, a funeral today/tomorrow for a friend/family, who shouldnt even be gone....
F**K CANCER!
