I was about ready to get some popcorn and find a good seat to watch.

Hey leave the poor air conditioners alone. I can't keep up when it gets over 80 degrees either.

I'm just more of a winter person, heh.

Window units.

We have to buy smaller ones with less BTU's because the bigger units don't fit in our windows. We usually have two going but our second one started to turn the outlet black last year so I've been hestiant to use it this year. So we only have one runnig right now.

one co-worker who must live on another planet.

Update:

we started complaining to the social worker, then the director or nursing and suprise suprise when my grandpa hits the button someone has been there in less than 5 minutes every time.

there was a very tense showdown between my grandpas nurse and us today in front of the director. on one hand I dont want her upset with us, on the other she couldnt do a much worse job than before AND now she is being watched like a hawk.

But ice hockey is not a familiar sport to Hmong, Somali, Hispanic and other minority students who make up an increasing percentage of city school enrollments.

my nephew is on a traveling boys volleyball team......

his parents claim that college scouts come to minnesota cuz we produce some of the top college players...

I know....

heh...

in one way im happy cause my school still has a team... but if it keeps up that way, they wont for very much longer.... and that sucks... just thinking about all the good teams that schools around here have had over the years....

just sad...

I like their idea of going around to rec-centers and whatever, and handing out ice-skates and teaching kids, so they can learn to skate, and want to get involved in hockey programs

I know like hell that woulda worked with me...

I never learned how to skate, until it was too late...and I still cant even stay on my feet very long...

Just a thought here - if one of the remaining two schools drops out too, does that mean other one is just handed the title of "city conference champ" from there on out? :goofy:

gotcha. have you cleaned out the outside coils on the units? our central air unit had trouble keeping the house where it was set this year too. called up minnegasco, since we have serviceplus. they came out and the guy hosed out our outside unit, and it works much better on the hot days.

one of these days i have to add more insulation to the attic.

Tim,

contact these people and file a report Minnesota Ombudsman

They can act as a mediator between your family and the facility, and if this is happening to gramps, this is happening to others who may not be able to speak up for themselves.

It's called elder abuse, and it's wrong, and it strips the elderly of what little dignity they have left.

Plus you know someone who works there who could help you navigate the process, Tim

I've known the family, since we were lil kids...

I was helping her shop for a b-day present, and catching up on stuff - because we hadnt talked a lot in the past year or so - when she got the call on her cell-phone...

her mom was battling breast cancer, and a number of other things all at the same time...

Nope. Terry works at the MN Ombudsman office. Not sure which department but she'd probably be able to grease the wheels for you.

I knew it sounded familiar.

Hopefully we won't need it, but if we do I'll talk to her!

I actually work at one of the Ombudsman offices for the State, but not the one for Older Minnesotans which is the one you would need, Tim.

The office I work in is in dealing with child protection cases. I could, however, give you an idea of the process.

That nursing home has a good reputation so I'm sure if you got an Ombudsperson involved there, they would snap to quickly to preserve that reputation.

I'm sorry about your Grandfather's dementia. It's a horrible thing to see happening.

Thanks Terry!

yeah, they seemed eager to help us when we started to complain so I don't think it will be an issue.

but we probably will have to find a long term place for him (he is in the transitional care unit right now), so at that time we MAY need it, hopefully not.
Fri, 06/09/2006 - 1:57 PM Permalink
Terry

There is long term care where he is now. I would suppose it would depend on if there is room in that unit when it's time.

I know for sure that over holiday weekends, care in those facilities is at a bare minimum.

Spyware

Uninstalled it and it broke my winsock connection , rendering my computer unable to access anything on the net. Used a system restore to get back to a point where I was able to, and get a message about my user profile being corrupted, so now I have to fix that too. Least I can use my pc at work to research how to fix all that crap. Time for a system upgrade anyway.

Been a while since I've had to fix my OWN computer...
