It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
marci rose
Golden Boy: Ramsey Co Workhouse is on Lower Afton & So Century Ave I believe. The boundary between St Paul & Maplewood is Century Ave, appears to me Workhouse is within St Paul.
Step, I am sure this is my year. But if not I wish you and Nelly a boatload of luck!
Has anyone else had problems posting here? I got bounced off this page this afternoon, and the server ate this hilarious posting I wrote which would have sealed my fame as the funniest thing going. At least I would have laughed if I'd liked it. (Does Mom have lame sensing software?)
What I think the PP is doing is trying to make everyone think it is at one of the Major Parks to until about clue #8 to accomodate the large crowds - then switch it. Whoever said Newell might be onto something - look at the streets (ie; Taylor runs into Newell, Taylor was president in 1849 - 150 years ago)
Como - can't be the place tooooooo many activities are there this year! If it's Highland can't be where the old pool was cuz of the disc golf tournament being held there! Vikings are still our team even though we are relocated for awhile in "Dirty Bird" land. Miss Minnesota and still love Winter-Carnival, Buttons are registered!!!!
St,Anthony could be a possibility out lining it parameters has all the ame stuff and there is some thing sing nif fic cat about this year im sure of it past history will be a clue to look for.
Newell Park is in the Hamline Midway area (just across the railyard from Midway Stadium). As I warned Step this afternoon it is a running gag for me (every year!) to claim the medallion is at Newell (it actually was around ten years ago). If it is this year, I would die of shock, but it is the closest city park to me so I dig there until the clues start to make sense, so I try to believe my own pathetic story, so I... Oh heck, you get it by now.
Century is not the dividing line between Maplewood and St. Paul--McKnight is!!
Last time treasure was at hidden falls "This is the start of something big" refered to Itasca St. which led us right to park--so he has in the past brought you to the park early.
If it's at phalen--there is plenty of areas to search for two weeks
Allright newell corner of Fairview and Pierce Butler. Pop attractions nearby: Amtrak and state fairgrounds. One small, but long bumpy and fun sliding hill in one corner of park. big park, open park, very hard to pinpoint lots of diggin sounds good here
If I strike myself on the head I could envisage a ski-jump at Newell. Right next to the tow-rope. Downhill is probably just sliding since a ski area narrows the scope far too fast.
Bob Apple, just a thought from one hunter to another. Mom (Pioneer Press) does not appreciate certain language on the board. So I'd tone it down a bit. Heard of Joe Medallion?

How about the big green chair at the bottom of the high bridge.

Newell is off Pierce Butler, about 5 blocks west of Snelling.

Why do you think ST. Anthony?

Basic - you're right, the work house is in Ramsey Cty- not St. Paul. But is very close to Battle Creek Park - which IS in St. Paul.
cant find it
Basic Dig, the something big reference was the beginning of the Mississippi River starts at Itasca Street.
If I strike myself on the head I could envisage a ski-jump at Newell. Right next to the tow-rope. Downhill is probably just sliding since a ski area narrows the scope far too fast.
There is no golf course any where near battle creek. Just open fields' and baseball fields. etc.
Popular Outdoor Attraction------Saints Games at Midway Winning------saints baseball

Basic Dig: Just looked at my map - thanks for setting me straight. Forget anything about Workhouse.
Bob Apple, just a thought from one hunter to another. Mom (Pioneer Press) does not appreciate certain language on the board. So I'd tone it down a bit. Heard of Joe Medallion?
