Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.
Wicked Nick
Nah... yer close... im the 16th.. one hour later, and I woulda been on Saint Patricks day.. (thats 11 P.M., for all you slow people)... also... I was born at a place, that aint even a hospital anymore... the Mounds Park hospital... I think its an old folks home or somethin now..
Me2... I need a green scarf. Do they have green fleece I can get?
I've recently become a fleece addict. The 'helmet' I borrowed's fleece, as well as these footie thighys we got, for the Hunt, that go over all your udder socks. And the shirts we got a Cabella's are fleece-like, but called something else. So warm and comfy... Just love the stuff!
If we are going to try and "fraternalize" this organization and do fund raisers for ourselves to donate and to use for future growth, I am guessing we have to register as a non-profit and follow all the state rules.
I am also guessing the Winter Carnival doesn't want us to be a formal part of the winter carnival as those spots are reserved for the groups from the old story (Vulcans, King Boreas, etc). However, we can be in the parade and can probably sell stuff like the Olympic pins, hats, scarves, whatever. But, we should be organized about it. What should or initial investment be? What do we want to make? How will the funds be used? What will we give away? If we sell stuff on a large scale and are not organized about our efforts, eventually the person who sells it will have to start thinking about taxes and that kind of stuff.
Comments? Suggestions? I am sort of rambling.
I will organize a park cleaning in April/May but won't have time to help with the formaliziation of the organization until later in the year.
Being a Pisces, I couldn't help but recognize certain phrases.
Except for that Big G is an Aries, and what I posted was specific to her birthday. If you want something specific to you, go to http://home.no.net/rocker/and choose the "Starbud" option. Put in your birthday and time of birth. Use the 24 hour notation and then add 6 hours to make it GMT. So like I was born at 1:54pm which would be 13:54 our time and 19:54 GMT.
Oh no...he's always hunted with us when he's been around to hunt. The last few years though with college, grad school and now the Peace Corps, he's not been able to hunt. We sent him an Archie Comic book and a ice palace poster to decorate his Guatemalan palace.
It's the daughter that refuses to hunt because we made her put it back.
Which, by the way... Once I was on vacation and out at Failin' all day... I'd look for you in the evenings, but never did see you. I read about that final and fateful nite... But where were you guys the rest o'the evenings? I looked all over for you. Knew there was no prayer of seeing you on Wed nite. I couldn't keep track o'Pops!!!
I was at that antique mall on University off of Lexington today and one of the booths has older Winter Carnival Buttons for sale. A few from the '60's. They ranged in price from a couple of dollars to $15. One booth also had a couple of coffee mugs from the year that they had those Norman Rockwell looking skaters on the button.
We never saw you either. We were there...ran into others...Allison, Stallion, Map Guy once, Mr. Med Hunter I think - but never saw you. Except for Sunday when I spent a wee bit of time down nearer the beach, we were at that north end.
I think of you when I'm out in that area. ;) I bought a sweet little wicker dressing table/desk thing today. Now I have to figure out which granddaughter gets it!
My son had seen it yesterday and told me about it, so we went out there this morning when they opened. I was afraid it would be gone. It's just adorable! And I bought two Tom and Jerry mugs to replace two that got broken this Christmas. I should have bought all they had because they match my bowl. Maybe they'll still be there next time.
I do that. See stuff I think I should get as there might not be another chance - but then pass on it anyways. So often I could kick myself for being stupid.
Maybe you'll find what you were looking at some day Terry. Years ago I saw a wicker desk at a garage sale and didn't buy it. I've thought of that desk often and wished I had bought it. And now I have one that I like even better!
I sure hope so. I was in Orlando a couple years ago for work. We went to a flea market and I saw the most beautiful wolf sculpture thingy and didn't get it. What stopped me was thinking about how I'd get it home as my luggage was already pretty well stuffed. It wasn't until later I thought I could have had it mailed back home. DUH!
I look now all the time for something even remotely similar - but no luck yet.
Got Dad on a plane to D.C. at 7:00 this morning, and managed to get the girls to hockey. Thank goodness Dad's dad kept the littlest one and met us there. I don't think there's much chance of us trying to do it tomorrow :).
Now we all have a little bit to do some deep breathing. Not sure what dinner's going to bring, but hopefully we can all get along :)
I'm an April Aries too! And I'm the 12th too! The middle child is the 16th.
I just came across something Pops found at The Re-Hash Bash... It belongs in the 2004 Hunt, but I didn't think enkneebuddy would see it there. And ittiz good and I think it should bee seen. It was prolly read at The Re-Hash Bash, but I don't know. So... From Queen Malley:
TOP TEN REASONS WHY I DID THIS YEAR'S HUNT
10. Learning the use of apostrophes.
9. Getting 'Punked' by MTV'S clue writers this year.
8. I always wanted to chase Windmills.
7. I like to weed unfit plants in 11 inches of snow.
6. I have always had a passion and lust for treasure devices.
5. I am a closet Archie Comics reader, and now I can come out.
4. YES! Take your honey for a ride!
3. I wanted to see what would happen if a real donut with gooey green icing was in the woods for 12 days.
2. I have always wanted to be in a mosh pit at night in tumbledown woods.
And the #1 reason why I did the Medallion Hunt this year... I CAN DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scarves sound like a nice idea! Count us in for one.
leelabell - We had this conversation back in 1998 or so when there was talk of maybe having logoed wear and all that. Maybe the time has come.
Mom - It really stinks - but usually things happen for a reason and maybe this will mean better opportunities down the road.

Love ya dearly, Ter... But...
I, too, would refuse to ever hunt witchew again if you made ME put it back! :D
Not to worry! Folks in hell will get ice cream cones beefore you've ever the remotest chance o'telling me, "Put it back, green"!!! :D
As my charm bracelet says, "Dream" - followed by a blue topaz representing The Med...

Hey OT!
You were very close to where I grew up if you were there...probably 4 blocks or so. Cooler!
I think of you when I'm out in that area. ;) I bought a sweet little wicker dressing table/desk thing today. Now I have to figure out which granddaughter gets it!
OT - I can hardly wait until I can find neat stuff like that for my grandchildren. Lucky you!
