1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

not too many people have mentioned anything about the POINTER. I have a few "stretched" ideas but I'm curious. What's everyone else thinking?...

This reminds me of the year that it was hiddedn in Newell Park - and the wheather was just like this and the park was totally dug up - it too the last clue to isolate the

right area - and the medallion was foundabout 12 yards away from the original hidding spot (as told by the last clue) i think this has happened - some object that

holds the medallion has been pushed around and could be anywhere in the basic vacinity of the correct spot. You just got to get lucky now!

We live a few miles away from Conway, so even though it'll be dark, I think it may be worth waiting for the next clue...I imagine there's going to be a lot of people

there at 11:30 with cell phones on!

I agree with www.metrosupersaver.com on the definition of the last clue. If you want to review all the clues again without going through 19000 enteries go to their

web site

Kitchica, you are right except for that only happened up through Clue number seven or eight. Once the CHAIR-KEY clue came out, most people abadoned

Mounds. Besides, we already had a switcheroo in clue #4 with the WELL...NEW line that sent everyone to Newell. And Jo Jo, yes I think you would.

I've got all the clues to fit another park.

Of course, it's fine with me if everyone is over at Conway looking.

why does every one believe that it is at Conway Do ALL the clues fit there or just some of them? Or is it the fact that Pioneer Press showed photos in the paper

today of people looking there and the TV thing last night????

I wanna play too, I wouldn't worry about that. If you're at home when you get the clue, it may be too late by the time you get there and find a parking spot. I'd say

just go the park, watch where people start moving at 11:30, follow them and just start digging.

sun shine, see posting 20233 to see why its at Conway. And if someone does believe its at another park, but doesn't want to explain all the clues, you can start with

#10.

Allison, may I ask, where do you live, and will you be doing any digging on this fine day??

The sucker is at Como. Have you seen how many people have waylaided the Conway park? By default someone would stumble upon that sucker.

Also, it is in a public place. The como area is a public area, and look at how much space there is to hide it?

Not at Conway, I am telling yah, and I am not even looking for the thing. I saw at least 6 people with metal detectors looking at conway.

Go to Como, no kidding.

Of course if it is at another park, and you're right, you've only got six hours to do something about it before your secret is out. And if one person can find it alone in a

whole park, no matter how small, in only six hours, I'll be truly amazed.

why would people use metal detectors if the stupid thing is made of plastic?? Somebody better hurry up and find this thing or they'll give $5,000 to charity....now

where's the fun in that? Remember- one last clue!!

JoJo - I don't know where Burns park is but I like the approach that gets you to Pacific - abstract - water tower seems to easy. I don't trust taking the clues too

literally - like the red object and the translucent peak - I can't think how to get them to fit.

It is in Como Park people. Conway is to small of a place to hide it. I drive by that place twice a day, and I tell yah, on average there are at LEAST 2-300 People

during the morning, and at night? 400-600 EASY. Conway is only so big. Hell, I dont think there is even any snow left.

On the other hand....Como is a MUCH bigger place, easier to hide something, which is probably sitting right in front of the faces of many. I am telling yah, it is at

Como.

I live in Como Park. I was digging until 1AM, then went home, found out about the misprint in the clue, figured out what it meant, and then dug some more from

about a quarter to five to nine. I'm not sure I want to deal with the madness anymore for what amounts to only a relatively small chance of personally finding it. If I

could just use my brain to figure out where it was, and then go get it, I would. But with all the people out there now, and it starting to get narrowed down, its more a

matter of luck now, and luck I don't have. If I did go, it would be more to socialize.

The time for fun has now begun In our hunt that's open to all But if you don't want to be outdone Look only on public ground in St. Paul

A park is the spot but a golf course is not So please don't disturb a fairway or green Follow this advice and you won't be caught Wasting your time at the wrong

scene

There is no golf course by Conway park people.

Donut Man, your own logic can be used against you. Como IS a BIG park. If they wanted anyone to find it, they would have to have been much clearer about

where it was. Besides, are you saying that the way all the clues fit Conway is just one enormous coincidence?

Conway park has signs posted saying "no golfing" that is a pretty good clue that you can't disturb a fairway or green. You don't want to go to a place with a golf

course

COMO PARK IS NOT A GOLFCOURSE

Wed, 02/03/1999 - 5:40 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

And Zentar, Clue #1 says a park is the spot, it says a golf course is not, but it does not say that said park has a golf course. They used intenionally ambiguous

language to keep from narrowing it down too soon. Of course there's no real point in trying to convince anyone. If you really believed it was at Como or somewhere

else and planned to do anything about, you'd be using these last few precious hours to take advantage of your advantage instead of sitting on the internet preaching to

the damned. So I realize this is just largely an intellectual argument.

2 chunks of ice??? what is that? two halfs?? or frozen together in a snow ball - doesn't fit. We need to talk about an object that holds the medallion - 'white -

stretched tight' - this is the clue to think about now. Then start digging for it. It has been overlooked so far...and will be found soon. So lets talk objects that could be

holding it and still be missed by so many - Thoughts???
