I'm thinking they might have put it on the East Side as a tribute to Herb Brooks. Phalen? Only a couple of blocks from the high school.

Bush Ave. is on the East Side as is Wells St and Jessie Ave. A president or two...Johnson and Bush. A governor of capitol renown....Jessie Ventura. Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker......Orson Wells.

I'm sure everyone has noticed this, but just posting it because it fits my theory. "Find a trail in and you won't be failin', to take a step in the right direction".

uuuufffdaa My short list is getting longer and longer. Wouldn't you think they would make it more obvious instead of less. There are only 7 clues. You'd think we'd be down to 1-2 parks. You would think they wouldn't want all the WC mayhem on this hunt.

I've come to believe they love the mayhem. :coolfrown:

Thanks for the tips here everyone!

I thought for sure it was elsewhere but now I think it's gotta be Phalen. "..you won't be failin'" = Phalen, "Zamboini circling the rink" = Round Lake, and now Day 5: Johnson Pkwy and [Gov.] Burnquist St. are on the S. Side of Phalen (not sure what the 2nd President refers to). St. Paul Johnson High School is near Phalen and was a hockey powerhouse back in the day...

Now...what the heck do candy and liquor refer to? And what is the "famed pig; from a spot with a long view of history"?

Noted, Hockey Fan. Trying to get into their head and it makes sense that they would reference Herb Brooks what with the statue of him and all at their rink.

We have some fine graduates of Johnson right here in our Cooler Crew! Perhaps it's their tribute to their great hunting skills! :pbpt:

Welcome Hockey Fan and Wombat.

I kinda liked Jakes licorice noodle last night. Candy/Liquor It's a stretch but a fun noodle anyway.

This is a stretch, but could "A president or two will give you a clue" indicate that the flag is hidden in a "Bush"? There have been two "Bush" presidents...like I said, a stretch!

A save of sorts but not in sports

Might give you cause for reflection

Find a trail in and you won't be failin'

To take a step in the right direction

ok..this one scares the heck out of me!!!!

I'm not sure where this post is going...but i'm going to ramble it out...

reflection...cause....mirror? backwards?...right direction? maybe its not a trail...save of sorts? stop..ending...deadend?..deadend sign?

hmm...

I'm still suck on mirror idea...and something backwards in this clue...

I AM DEFINITELY A ROOKIE AT ALL THIS HUNTING STUFF. I ONLY GOT INTO THIS BECAUSE I AM A WILD HOCKEY FAN. GOSH YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AT THINKING ALL THESE CLUES OUT. I DO HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS: DO THEY HIDE THESE THINGS AWAY FROM MAIN PATHWAYS (I WALKED THRU PHALEN THE OTHER DAY AND FEEL BAD WALKING ON THE GRASS)??? AND HOW DO THEY KNOW ONE OF THE FIVE THOUSANDS SQUIRRELS HAVEN'T PICKED IT UP AND RAN WITH IT???

i'm not convinced really with any park yet but...

Johnson High School is located on the East Side of Saint Paul. It has served this part of the city as a high school since 1897. The present building is this school's third site and was constructed in 1963. The first building burned to the ground and was replaced by a building that is still in use by the district. The first name of the school was Grover Cleveland High School. Later the name was changed to John A. Johnson High School to honor a popular, Swedish, Minnesota governor who died in office just as the second building was under construction.

FPM2K

I went to both Wilder and Merriam today. We walked every inch of Merriam, and came across nothing. Wilder is very small, almost nowhere to hide the flag, and we looked at all the places where it could've been hidden. Those two parks are off my list.

I want to go try Highland or Phalen, but I'm also exhausted and I have to work in three hours, so I think I'd better forget about the hunt for tonight. Three days of little sleep and a lot of walking and driving from park to park really wipes you out, and since everybody's short list of parks seems to have gotten longer with this clue, I doubt it'll be found today.

I wanted the place for beginners to be a nursery (and there's one on W 7th, not too far from Montreal)

KC0GRN

hmmm lots of theories... you know it's weird, for a 7 clue hunt, shouldn't they have narrowed down the park by now? I'm guessing tonight's clue will erase all doubt and put everyone in 1 park.

These clues have to be written by the WC cluewriters, seems very much like their style these days, make the clues match almost every park.

A place of improvement with varieties of movement Is near where the thing is secreted

Going on the Phalen idea, this might be the Phalen Corridor... There's a bike path that's going along there, as well as the new road.
