Thanks for all the kind thoughts, they mean a lot to me.

We had a really nice service for grandma yesterday. When we were at the cemetery it was snowing with those big flakes that are so pretty, which was very nice.

I consider myself extremely lucky in that all 4 of my grandparents were with me until a few years ago and 3 of them played extremely integral roles in my life.

I want to say thanks for my snowflake too...

havent been on here in a buncha weeks....

here is the poem that came with the snowflake -

Once upon a time, someone long ago

had a dream in St. Paul because of all the snow

how were they to know

we were yet still a glisten

each one came in a different light

a different reason a different night

what beautiful people these snowflakes are

the brightest thing you'll ever know

love for them will forever grow

every one has a different face

each of them their own special grace

it's in our lives they frolic and sing

a treasure we've found, it's a beautiful thing

they bring us joy they give us love

they're an infinite design from God above

brought us together to this comfort we all seek

each sparkling Cooler Crew snowflake is truly unique

We want you to know how much we care

even during the fragile times when things arent always fair

when you look at this snowflake year after year

remember.....we are always here

its signed - Love, the cooler crew

and has a note attatched to it - Merry Christmas Nick, in memory of your dad

I teared up, when I opened it, and read that...

Carolyn and I both thank you all, for being here so much for both of us, this year....

its been hard on us both....

this gift isnt going to be up, just at x-mas time.... I have it on my "important items" shelf, on my entertainment center, where it will stay.

just slogging through the last 6 months, but, i think you've got the 3rd worst proposal. mine comes in first. i asked tc over the phone from my office at work with my feet kicked up on my desk, just out of the blue. not planned or anything.

miraculously, she said yes

LOL!! Yeah I kinda sorta preposed to Mike but it wasn't much of a proposal. He and I had been at a wedding and had just left and I kinda looked at him and said so when are we going to get married...we were married 6 months later.

I was asked today to post a little information of a long journey and fight that seems to be sadly coming to an end...... :frown: ........

Sues dad, Bill, is in the hospital. He now has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer and has been given only a couple of weeks to live.

:frown:  :frown:  :frown:

He will be going home soon and made as comfortable as possible. Sue has had this last year, practically daily, to share as much precious time and love and care for her dad, traveling many times with him to Arizona so Bill could undergo innovative treatment that wasn't available here.

Please, I ask of everyone to keep Bill and Sue and Jase and the kids in your thoughts and prayers to comfort and ease them right now.

thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time. he's being really brave, even going so far as to do a small broadcast from the hospital room today on the oscars, but turning more yellow by the day; the liver has shut down. we're working with palliative care to keep him comfortable at this point. its still unreal.

and in this case its the damndest thing. it isn't so much the cancer, as much as it is the tumors in the liver choking off the bile ducts keeping it from functioning properly, and that's what's inoperable.

sue thanks you so much, j, for being her liaison into the forum. she's not taking this very well, and its so incredibly important to have really good friends to hold on to; and to hold back. i know she really values your friendship and the fact that you and icesis have gone through this yourselves (and l&a's mommy too). thank you so much to icesis, j, and mrs. z for offering to help with kids or anything else we need. we really appreciate it. and to everyone else, your thoughts and prayers mean the world; they're the only hope we've got right now.

ares - it's never easy. My dad died of cancer as well. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Our phone number is in the book.

Unfortunately, mostly what anyone can do is offer prayers that he remains comfortable.

Hugs to all of you.

My Mother-In-Law died from the same type of Liver cancer. When she was first diagnosed, they said a transplant was the only outside chance she had - but a 65-year-old diabetic won't even register on most transplant lists, so they gave her a year to live - they were right within a week. At least she had some warning what was coming.

She had a great year - several trips out of state to visit relatives and our wedding as well. The jaundice didn't really set in badly until very near the end, so she was on hospice for a short time, but her pain didn't last terribly long.

My hope is that Bill, Sue and the rest of the family will be able to get through this time of suffering with a sense of peace. Give 'em all a hug from me!
