Sorry to hear about Penny's dad. It sucks getting old and sick.
I was in Ogden, UT last week for my brother-in-law's funeral. He's been sick with cancer also for some time. He beat it the first round, but not this time. They were still planning on driving to MN for our family vacation next week up until the end. My sister is still coming.
It was quite the funeral. The Bishop of Salt Lake said the Mass. There were a lot of relatives there and we had a sort of family reunion. I no sooner returned from Utah than we packed up for Wisconsin for the 4th and now I'm getting ready for the vacation at Osakis. I'm bushed!
I just got word My cousnet Has brought in Hospice care!!! they dont expet her to make it more then a few days now she is fading FAST!!! 3 days ago she was at what they thought a few weeks and now she is just falling apart!!! no blater control at all and she is having a hard time walking!! I guess I am going to be going to see here in the next day or so!!
One of my childhood friend's dad has the big C - they moved up north close to 20 years ago now. He smoked like a chimney for decades. Got a version of lung cancer that spread everywhere. He's afflicted with so many things right now I was amazed to hear he's still alive. My parents are assuming at this point the next time they see him he'll be in a box. His wife is still rail thin and smoking like a chimney too.
we're addicts of deadliest catch and one of the captains (phil harris) smokes like a furnace (ok almost all of them do). he recently was diagnosed with a clot in his lung that showed up on an xray as a black spot. wouldn't ya think that knowing it isn't cancer would give you a new outlook on life to put the smokes down?
Its been a year and 4 months here since my dad died and my family seems like it will never be normal again. My mom went off the deep end in March (at the 1 year mark) and spent 6 weeks in the hospital and she still isn't remotely back to herself yet.
Penny went in today with her dad to talk to a surgeon about her dads colon cancer. They are going to operate the middle of august. Seems they cant do any more radiation because he already had radiation doses from the prostate cancer not too long ago. If it hasn't spread they think they can get it out. If it has spread they will have to do chemo therapy. They won't really know the extent until they get in there to look.
They said it was a fluke that he's had two cancers develope and that they are unrelated.
:frown:
and its he's thread which he does like to keep to geocachers and his own personal friends..
Her boss's dad passed away. She found out as she was meeting her dad at the VA hospital for a colonostopy.
The colonostopy found out he has colon cancer and has a huge lump on his colon. Not sure what the next step is, find out more next week.
This is on top of his prostate cancer, emphazema, anemia, narcolepsy, diabetes, heart stents, and the recent heart attacks.
Give penny a great big HUG from ME ALSO!!!
:frown:
I woulda given Penny a big hug Saturday if I knew
I'm very sorry that this is happening this way
that sounds overwhelming - hug for Penny and you Mikey

they diagnosed him, and told him that he had between 2 weeks and 2 months left, and to get his shit in order....
he died a day short of 2 weeks later...
we're still trying to pick up the f**kin pieces....
seems like a never ending process....

3M - that is in a way good news, that they think they can get it out... Gotta keep looking at the positives.
