Getting a job offer! I need to call back on Monday though because by the time I had time to think about the offer the lady was gone for the day (and won't be back until Monday) but I'm thinking if they can't offer me more than I might have to pass. The pay is decent, well so so anyways, it was the minimum I;d accept but the benefits completely suck so I want better monetary compensation to offset that I'm sooo not good at negotiating stuff like this I've always just taken what was offered. Wish me luck on Monday! I'd be nice to start the year off with a job!
LAM - the key is being able to walk away from the job. Ask for more time to think about it, and tell them that because of your kids and the benefits sucking, you need to "crunch the numbers" and see if you can take that low of pay. Then offhandedly say "You know, I really do want the job, I think I've got great experience to offer, and being a part of this company is going to give a lot to me too. If the offer was X, I wouldn't have any qualms about saying yes immedtiaely." Then reiterate you having to think about it. And if they don't give you time to think about it, you don't want to work there anyway.
RB and Terry I do have something similar I will be saying to them and I have a gut feeling that they will accept paying me more. I'm just going to go and say you know I was prepared to accept the $$$ if the compensation package was competative and I didn't have to work the occasional weekends which weren't part of the job originally. As we discussed during our meeting I have a lot of the experience you are looking for and I feel that XXX would be a more fair in light of the circumstances (or something like that).
Well I am offically employed! Just in time for the hunt to start...(groans)
I was hoping to get an additional $2-3 per hour and ended up getting only $1 with a review after 3 months and renegotiate at that point. I'll take it. In this job market I don't want to turn something down over $40 a week.
They are going to have me start training when I get back from vacation they have the position covered through the end of the month which is when I will take it over solo. Even working I'll still be out I promise I can't miss the hunt!
Ours was much cooler. They got uglier as the years passed it looks like. Ours was a '69 Ford Torino. Notice the sleek downward swoop on the top edge of the faux wood. Now that's style!
FYI: Baja SOL has a new place in Oakdale/Woodbury - next to Red Lobster and Milio's Subs by Best Buy - Haven't been in there yet - anyone want to break it in?

I get the bartering thing - I dont like it either
good luck
Is there anyway the compensation could be increased?
If the answer is yes - super.
If the answer is no - you might want to consider taking it for the experience and keep looking.
Hope it works out for you LAM
hehehe

Jake did that and he found it!
Maybe I'll hit on something that will work better for digital tv, even though I found out it's the same frequencies.
