I'll give you that Crosby does have limits as to how much can be put into clues....but wouldn't you hope we'd have better than 4 or 5 clues that pretty much just say "Crosby"? It'll sure be interesting when the explanations come out.
Like I said before, I think we do have clues that tell us more than that if you're willing to believe that's what they're actually saying. I personally feel like I have the area narrowed down pretty well.
Good Evening~ just got back from the park and I have absolutely no new ideas. This next clue better narrow down the location. I really hope it's not past the upper lake, otherwise we are in for a long a$$ haul.
Hello. Just checking in. I have to admit that after last night's clue, I became only a tiny bit doubtful that it's hidden in Crosby, where I've been for several days. It was a doozy of a clue. I think the clue writer (s) have us playing jokes on ourselves as to the "is/ isn't" arguments. Just keeping an open mind and giving the clues the benefit of the doubt will help narrow down the location. I think the clues have been great so far.
I too believe that it is in the woods off of the ski trails, At what location? Well if you can be a little crafty with the clues than it is possible to have at it narrowed to at least a quadrant.
Basically I think it's within a hundred yards or so of that covered bench. More specifically I think it's between Homer and Springfield and south of the lakes.
I agree that the writer has been having fun putting the doubt out there. I have some idea of where I think it ought to be within Crosby too.....but when I've been there, it just hasn't "felt" right yet.
There have been other years, -- although not for quite awhile, when by the weekend I actually KNEW I was in the right park and suspected I was in the right part. That's what I'm missing. Hasn't happened since Conway, I don't think.
agree with you Allison, we've been in the same area. Are you familiar with the plaque on the tree of the deceased man? We haven't been able to locate it yet? We were going to get a lazer pointer and go on top of the cliffs from Homer and direct it in the forest area, but I cant find one thats powerful enough
I saw the plaque. It was along the trail on the way to that part of the park, but it wasn't in that part. It was much closer to the shelter. And yes, it does take about 10-15 minutes to walk to that area (at least it takes me that long). But looking at where they put it the last two years, I don't have any reason to think they wouldn't put it that far out. I don't think they would put it any farther because then you pretty much totally run out of landmarks.
here's a crazy one - look at post #4211 - not only can we not hunt at HI, most of us were "kicked" off of the Island and ran to a "grove" of trees in Como. And the CSN&Y clue could be referencing their alblum "deja vu". AW - re your post at 4240 - are we ignoring Como again?
I'm not specifically ignoring Como, but I don't really see the clues leading us there. To me they simply fit Crosby too well. They kind of fit Harriet, and they seemed to fit Harriet better than anywhere else I was considering (which didn't include Como), but even then, something never seemed quite right there. Everything seems right to me here. If I'm wrong on this one, then I'm just dead wrong.
Dharma. That was my post. I also interpret "a grove that once did hide us (the medallion)" to mean it's in a park where it's been hidden in before. The last time it was on Harriet Island was 1996, and the following year it was in Como. Hmmmm.
Bye C. Your dad is only doing his job. The computer can be a dangerous place for a young person. It's a parents responsibility to make sure their children are using it properly. But we're harmless....mostly. ;)
Ok, on the right or left side when your heading to it and is it a tree right on the path or do you have to go in a bit? I want to take a photo to post on here
As you're walking into the woods towards the bus stop, it's on the right side. It's in a ways, but it's still fairly easy to see.
hi guys. i'm with allison on this one. i think it's between the "giant fallin" tree, the gazebo/shelter, the lake and the trail as the north and west limits. it's somewhere in there. the night before last mike and i were walking around and there was a LOT of tall grass (hard to rake through) and a lot of uncovered snow. that area is directly north of pike island, and almost directly in line with homer. it's all there. but that's a lot of area to uncover. hopefully tonight's clue will fair better. maybe i'll dig a bit on my lunch. :o) good luck huntin kids!

Tell us the area you believe its in Allison?

I hope you're feeling better, AW
I think there leading us right down the path, through the woods and to the spot at CROSBY
Wonderland,
I too believe that it is in the woods off of the ski trails, At what location? Well if you can be a little crafty with the clues than it is possible to have at it narrowed to at least a quadrant.
Those native flowers are just destroyed, and the clues dont even point you to them? The clues say it is on the trails!

Oh AW I hope not that far- that's a long haul
I also will be very upset if its not at CROSBY. Everything fits.
From day 1, they wrote the clues back words from previous years, and its not in anything so they have nothing to write about other then the park.

Outta's Daughter

Outta's Daughter

Are you going to CP tonite after the clue?
So Aw the plaque with the man photo on it is past the upper lake?

Allison
-About how far from the "Bus Stop" as I call it is the plaque on the tree? When you come on the Cross Country path from the shelter
No, the plaque is closer to the picnic shelter. Mot past the upper lake at all unless you were coming from the opposite end for some reason.
Oh Okay
These clues are too much alike to last year, I dont think they are stringing us along. IT IS CROSBY

I'm going to guess it's about halfway from the shelter to the "bus stop"
just a lil fyi, the over head pic of Crosby was taken in 1946... looking East.. so that's prolly why there's no down town. LOL
Bye C. Your dad is only doing his job. The computer can be a dangerous place for a young person. It's a parents responsibility to make sure their children are using it properly. But we're harmless....mostly. ;)
MM goin to the park tonight?
Nope I'm staying in tonite.. gotta get up for work at 5am.
Man! I'm so tired I'm wondering if I can stay up till the next clue.
bummer
me too KT- I have looked at te clock about 15 times in the last 2 minutes
yeah but I'm taking Thurs and Fri off.. so I'll be out there for clue 12 providing it doesn't get found before then.
I'm just thinking out loud. But it shows how many ways a clue can be deciphered.
