Ohh, so we have to look for a decaying tree, in the woods,on 500+ acres? I'm going down there now! Dang- this is looking like it's really gonna be a 12 clue hunt.
iamcold-yea, it's a different animal with the online experience. I started hunting when I was eight years old, and back then we would drive around to see where everyone was digging. The golden rule was that if no one else was in your park, you had rocks in your head. I paid for that line of thinking two years ago when it was in Como and we were all in HI. As Allison said, we all convinced ourselves it couldn't be in Como, and I think the online community was a part of that path-dependency.
My guess is that Downtown Dave won't be waiting at Ma Press tomorrow night. The bounty will have been found.
And sorry if I'm coming across as either cocky or a PITA, I'm not trying to. It's just that with a clue like this, my initial gut instinct is that it's the giveaway. Either that or I'm too naive about the size of Crosby Park.
Maybe what they will do this year, instead of making clue 12 twelve pages long is to give it a bit more specific clue by clue for the rest of the hunt.
Well I feel excellent about this clue even if I am at home right now and not at the park. First it solidifies it for me that we are certainly at the right park cause they said go to the park where puck fever prevails and that is certainly prevailing at Crosby and has been quite a few good days, Then the remains of the tree clue (the giant tree that fell and then was cut up so as not to pose a hazard). Right past that giant you will come upon another giant of a tree that has the hugest LICHENS on it I ever was witness to! The lichens that are the largest are on the broken off branch of the tree and that branch happens to be pointing directly at an offshoot trail. And thats my story and I'm stickin' to it!
It wouldn't be IN the bed, it says for you to "round the bend" after that evil- a black puck in a dark forest..I mean Grove- stuck in a dark rotting stump- hee.
what the clue is saying is on the way to the trails where the puck is hidden go past the flower bed, round the bend til ya see a downed tree, when ya see the tree you're getting warmer, if not burning hot.
there's the octogonal flower bed right smack dab in the middle of the turn around up by where the trails start east of the pavillion. it's a directional thing, saying if you go by there, you're going the right way.
"If the puck rests naked" that takes out a lot of the words we need to decipher what it is hidden in.. I don't really see a green doughnut, pack of ace playing cards, diaper or oreo cookie or the like that would explain what it was hidden in. They wouldn't hide it in an ice chunk again, would they? If they did, they could get pretty specific pretty fast with the clues and still....it would be hard to find.
I think that it is lying naked they didn't put it in anything--I tell you if it isn't at Crosby it is up the trail more towards Hidden (high dudgeon could be annagrammed "uh go hidden")
Got it from another thread
How does this confirm Crosby, Evil?

it must be some kind of stump
I don't know yet QM
Still, tough to reconcile with all the wildflower references, I think, but hey, it's the new clue, out with the old, back in the trees.
Thanks much, DD- you're a trooper, dude!
I'm going to bed.
...but my 'internal medallion clock is starting to wake me up. Oh, dear.

the clue
En route to trails where puck fever prevails
many sides no flowers to see
round the bend the seeker should wend
to all that remains of a tree
Â
I won't say it confirms 100%, but it is not the bombshell I was secretly hoping for. I should just move on and accept the fact that it is in Crosby.
I think this clues confirms what many people have been saying. They've narrowed it to Crosby, now they're leading us down the path to where it is.
This seems rather specific for this early...

there are alot of dwoned trees there though

Sounds easy but there are only a few thousand stumps to dig around.
It's in a tree, next to some trees, down a path from some trees, but not to be confused with any old trees.
Maybe the medallion is actually a puck this year. Wouldn't that be funny.

lol but there are SO MANY DOWNED trees!! Slim and Reg seem to think it's in the octogonal flower bed... I don't think it's there.
What's with the stilted language in the second line? And it doesn't say on the trails, but en route to the trails. Hmmm
I doubt it'll be in the remains of the tree. This is a landmark in the close vicinity in my opinion.Â
well to wend is to go on your way so it's telling you to go to the remains of a downed tree.
Does anyone think it is possible that "the puck rests naked" that it isn't hidden in anything?
That's what I think.
exactly
that's what I was looking at... and no flowers to see... seems to me that they're sayin stay away from the damn flowers. LOL
I agree, MM. They would not put it in a flower bed.
It wouldn't be IN the bed, it says for you to "round the bend" after that
evil- a black puck in a dark forest..I mean Grove- stuck in a dark rotting stump- hee.
The wife is off tomorrow so if you hear a cheese-head finds it that'll be me!
If a cheese head falls in the forest....heh.
what the clue is saying is on the way to the trails where the puck is hidden go past the flower bed, round the bend til ya see a downed tree, when ya see the tree you're getting warmer, if not burning hot.
...is anyone around to smell it?
big tree down up river from fire pit around a bend
I do :P
I was out there today and I didn't notice any flower beds. How can you tell?
   Way to go TseekerSue
Ive been there diggin and seen em both , The fallen giant , liked it from the get go !!!!!!!!!
Hope it wasn't attached to any of those logs I threw in the fire pit today! :o
Hey TMK: I'm in a better mood now~!!!

Hey Rock! How goes it?
Thanks, MM.
LOL, so do I. ;) brb

wend in thesaurus means as a verb, "sail" " boat" "coast"
