Earlier tonight I saw a picture of the old Crosby homestead, does anyone actually know where that was in relationship to where the main shelter is today?
I read somewhere that the actual house was on the corner of Shepard and Montreal (except for that it was in the park area). So it would have actually been pretty far from the shelter.

The criiter running off with loot is such a popular news item, would they really put that in the first clue?
It seems that in several of the past 7 years or so the first clue has made some sort of reference to something that happened in the previous year. The Como hunt started by talking about how short the Newell Hunt was. Was it the first clue of the 2003 hunt that talked about the "crueler crew" and how much complaining there was about Merriam? And now we have this one taking about the disappearing green doughnut.
Has anyone else discussed that "yarrow" is Peter's last name from Peter, Paul & Mary? It's the second clue in a row that mentions one person of a group.
Stills and yarrow. Kind of like Oates and Garfunkel.
Also, I figure that one of the "field Generals" is Elway - but what's the other one?
Now if you look at that satellite image and zoom out a bit, you'll notice in addition to the two lakes, just south of the larger one, there seems to be a smaller pond.
Keller Park - The park was acquired in 1899 and name by an early St. Paul settler who had staked the first claims around Phalen Creek. Keller Island, Maryland. Helter, skelter, shelter. Things to think about. You never know.
Which is why it typically grows in a field. And yet a field seems contrary to all the other clues that are telling us it's in the woods. Unless yarrow is not a clue pertaining to a landscape, but rather a street name, Springfield. Springfield points right to the crossroads. And that would be their second reference to the word "field".
is it 100% crosby? Is Highland ruled out? it has been found at Highland 4 times, the first time was the first year of the hunt; Field general could be that big round tower, there is that big aquatic pool, the charles schultz ice skating rink. but not that much else for Highlan, other than that weird circus there.
Not too much longer now until the clue. In some ways I kind of like being at home for it where I can do research. When I read Clue 7, I thought it was just saying Crosby again. But once I got home and found out what yarrow was exactly and what kind of area it "loves", it turned out to narrow things down quite a bit I would say.
About 50%. I was right early on for Conway, Newell, and Merriam. I was way off on both Como hunts because I never thought it even could be at Como those years so I never thought about how the clues fit there. Last year I was late to Phalen. I was stuck on Battle Creek because I was so sure the object that was as green as the Emerald Isle was a shamrock and there was a Shamrock Plaza right by Battle Creek. But looking back at what led me astray the years I was wrong, I don't feel that is happening here. I held off on Crosby until Clue #4 because I didn't think they would really put it there, but now I think they did anyway. And last year, even though I thought Battle Creek, I knew there were strong signs pointing to Phalen. I think the strong signs are all pointing to Crosby this year.
AW if you go to the South Hidden Falls Entrance and go down that way how far do you have to go up that path to get on Crosby land? We walked it today but there was no sign saying you are leaving HF and coming into Crosby....
According to my maps, KT is right, it's where you cross under the Highway 5 bridge.
Yes, I see the smaller body of water. Is that the one that used to be "blue"? I assume you get to it on the pathway between there and the river, right?
I heard someone say that they were out yesterday and got lost for an hour! I have tendonitis in my arms so I can only hold a shovel or what have you for a certain amount of time before they get sore. Sounds like it's a good 15-minute walk? I may have to accept the fact that I can't hunt this year. Perhaps I can send the other half of the "Green Team" out? Or maybe if enough snow melts, I won't need a shovel and I will just stumble over it as other finders have done? One can hope!
KT was that you at Crosby fir around 6PM on Saturday night that asked me if their was another log behind the cement fire ring yet? I was the gal that threw it in and also the one at the porta potty struggling to get out of her ski pants

no LA I just say it every year!

Another stretch but maybe the homestead is the part of the clue that said "it was there long before we moved in?"

I had to bite the bullet and do "mark as read."

I grew up across the street from Palace and when I was little my friends and I would dig there every single day

RB the other field general would be Gannon
Also, I figure that one of the "field Generals" is Elway - but what's the other one?
Rich Gannon
I think the yarrow is leading us to Springfield personally.
rich gannon? is there a gannon street I missed?

a yarrow needs clear sunlight - where I was digging was not in a good position for clear sunlight.
Now if you look at that satellite image and zoom out a bit, you'll notice in addition to the two lakes, just south of the larger one, there seems to be a smaller pond.
Keep an open mind.

Outta's Daughter
Gannon RD is right at the entrance
Oh, I hadn't heard that story. That would be pretty funny if it was true. But I'm guessing that's not what the first clue was referring to.

or maybe just the color of the new puck or what's in
is it 100% crosby?
Depends who you ask. I say yes, 100%. Others would say they have doubts and a few are still set on other parks.

I think it is hidden right next to Jimmy Hoffa.
KT - I bet you're right on that!
Allison: what is your track record for guessing the right park? All the time, some of the time??
Nice to see you Ter. How come you didn't come down for the ceremonial fire?
mommy- It is pretty much right where you go under the hwy 5 bridge
Bear. Oats and Garfunkle? Or Hall and Oats? Or Simon and Garfunkle? Or are you just getting deep again?
The marina might be the dividing point.

KT - We thought about it. Yesterday took longer at my Mom's than we thought it would and last night's clue was uninspiring to send us down there.Â
I'm hoping for inspiratation with tonight's clue.

Ahh- That 'life' stuff again, huh?
