I guess in retrospect, that should alleviate doubts to the Crosby location. Awesome noodle. Now I suppose one can assume the 'shelter' may refer to one of the other structures down there, rather than the obvious big one.
KT we need to bring back the snap crotch thing for the ski pants etc just for use in this frozen tundra environment. Tough sledding for women in this department! By the way I am Sue you seemed really upbeat and funny. My kinda person!
thanks, AW.. and Wolf, don't forget that clue has the word "and" in it, with room AND wood to burn....room to burn? or the solid shelter means it is big with room, as in "roomy", and solid shelter, why solid shelter?
helter skelter in the summer swelter the birds flew off with the fallout shelter eight miles high and falling fast--Don McClean in American Pie is said to be referencing the Byrds(David Crosby) and their song "Eight Miles High"--could be a bird house? Or just the solid shelter that is the main shelter
As far as a reference to the marina, how about "wood to burn" meaning Woodward and Bernstein, the men who exposed the Watergate scandal.
Seems like a slight strecth for the cluewriter to expect us to get that, but it's definitely possible. Maybe they just threw it in not necessarily expecting anyone to get it, but so much the better if they did.
Yes, I see the smaller body of water. Is that the one that used to be "blue"? I assume you get to it on the pathway between there and the river, right?
That's what I was thinking since it seems that pond is no longer there and it falls within what I consider to be the target area. Yiu can take the pathway to the crossroads, but once there, you have to go into the wooded area. But I think you have to do that anyway since it's not likely hidden on the path itself. And it does take me about 10-15 minutes to get there depending on where I start from.
Do you remember when it was at Hidden in 93, THe clue said "This is the start of something big a truly fun begining" Which meant Itasca st into Hidden falls, THAT WAS CLUE 1, A stretch but nontheless there!
yeah, i think i a staring at the clues too much; except for all the songs there is nothing that is an anagram, or the first word of every line, or words spelled backwards means the park, SOMETHING catchy, that the clue writers would of done by now. If all the song references are their catchy, play on words this year, well that would be a first.
hey, hi Digger! Been out to Crosby yet? is that your pick of parks this year? I think all the signs point to it. Hope there won't be another Phalen or Harriet
WTG Danjo, where the heck ya been?
Yup- that was me. I started that fire on wed. to commemorate my father's life. He passed on on the 12th.

dango,
I cant believe I missed that one, The writer may not give u justice when he explains the clues but I know that is right.
Yeah, the marina thing was the one thing that was bugging me.
Oh that is so sweet! My good friend died on the 14th of breast cancer she was only 43! We will always carry the good memories!
Will someone be posting the clue?
I guess in retrospect, that should alleviate doubts to the Crosby location.

My birthday was (is?) the 24th and having a co-party with a friend.
Danjo,
Im with you on that but it is nice to finally make sense of the marina. It was bothering me.
QM- I think that shelter down there is pretty "solid"

See? NOW all the brains come out!

The weather should be a whole lot warmer than last year- brrrrr.
I will try and make it and yes velcro would be much better tee hee
its at crosby or mounds.
I left my brains down at Crosby in that roomy wood-burning shelter. heh.
Do you remember when it was at Hidden in 93, THe clue said "This is the start of something big a truly fun begining" Which meant Itasca st into Hidden falls, THAT WAS CLUE 1, A stretch but nontheless there!
Oh iam I feel bad for you at thiteen (old drunk curmudgeon) and the egg on your head -people are so dumb sometimes!
"And it does take me about 10-15 minutes to get there depending on where I start from."
Would the circle, with the path that goes to the first body of water, then head right or south, be a good place to start?
Go to the fallen down giant cut up tree
There are some less solid shelters in the woods made by, well, someone.

Hi QM
en route to trails where puck fever prevails
many sides no flowers to see
round the bend the seeker should wend
to all that remains of a tree
Would the circle, with the path that goes to the first body of water, then head right or south, be a good place to start?
Yes
en route to trails where puck fever prevails many sides no flowers to see round the bend the seeker should wend to all that remains of a tree
Is that really the clue? Doesn't sound quite right.
