Fabulous Ferns for the RHB......?????
Drink and food specials galore...and etc.
Think and talk about it and just let us know
Cooler Bingo.
Each 'square' on a 5x5 bingo card has a bit of relatively unknown 'trivia' about each of the Coolers... you have to ask around and figure out the name that matches up to each square. You could give prizes for 'first' bingo or picture frame, but I'd think that would happen very quickly. First to get all 25 spaces right wins a prize. Someone with more phone numbers than I have could get that together relatively easily and make a few photocopies....
Keep it in St. Paul
keep going to the same place and stop moving every year!!
Obbs or Matty B's new place.
re-hash will have to be moved since the masonic lodge sold- but we should always just stick with a place unless we are pushed out. Like with Mcgoverns - they didn't have room for us so we had to go. People need to know where to go if they arn't online much. It should be tradition to go to the same place year in and year out.
I am fine with either place.
remember the other places there wernt.
For some reason DaVanni's off White Bear & 94 popped into my head. Their 'party room' is not big enough, but we could probably take over the whole place (or 2/3 of it) for an afternoon since their sit-down dining is kinda sparse...
I don't think liquor is on the menu, though... :frown:
Idea .... brought to you by the Diggin' Darlins':

The place also has to be a big enough space and not spread us out too much. we took up alot of tables at the masonic lodge. And we had exclusive noise (only us and not a bar of others) where we could talk and give away items and sing made up Cooler songs.
It should be a place where we have our own space or own room.
liquor was not really an issue for re-hash because we always moved the party to the local bar afterwards anyhow for those who hung around.
Obbs last year was cool because we got to play No Time For Cold Feet on the big screen.
Ferns is like Obbs or Gabes...a place to go after the potluck rehash.
Ferns doesn't have a room to reserve and and area exclusive to us.
otherwise I love the idea as an afterparty.
I wonder if Phalen Rec Center is still open on Sundays. I know it was during the Phalen hunt and they had a nice rec center. Perhaps they would let us use a portion of that space.
The other place I wish were available is the Newell Park space, but they close that whole thing down for the winter.
I wonder if the Conway rec center is open on Sundays. I know they let us use that space for the rehash for the Conway hunt, but I don't know that it's usually open.
And with budget cuts, if they were open Sundays, they may not be any longer.
I was recently looking at the St. Paul Parks for rental info about Crosby. (Next Fall a major geocaching Event will be in the Twin Cities, and I'm hosting the opening Event: a bonfire at Crosby.)
Anyway, I believe two Park pavilions/buildings are available year-round, and I'm sure Newell was one of them.

Beth NEVER booked anything, nor did she do anything on the crew's behalf...
She has been talking about the crew all year long! She talks about the group just like she talks about the Vulcans, the Royal Family, the Gurads etc... after meeting the group last year at the pre-dig she looks at the crew as another important facet that makes up the Winter Carnival.
And as far as you wanting to know that she has been talking about the crew... well I have been trying to tell everyone since last year's pre-dig how the carnival office wanted to give us more recognition, but no one wanted to listen to me.... I even brought up the conversation on how the Royal Guard was looking for a way to join forces too (since they also heard about the crew).
Any ways - I just wanted to set the record straight that Beth did nothing on the crew's behalf. Whatever you heard was a rumor.

Well thanks for starting it then because it was you who called me and said that somebody booked the old Matty B's for the Cooler Crew when you were calling them for a possible place to book the guard that same night. You asked if I knew who booked it. I didn't. Then you said to hold off booking Obbs until you looked into it. That's when you discovered that Beth was involved somehow but not sure in what capacity. You then changed your story and said she was just letting the new owners know about the various groups associated with the carnival and didn't actually book it for us. That's why we held off on booking Obbs. Because of what you said about the CC already set up for All American Burger.
Now that you have the guard there that night I guess we can now book Obbs like we planned once people chimed in on their preference. We're going to be at AAB every night anyway before and after the clue.
and Merriam is centrally located - I liked our re-hash there
too bad we arn't non-profit or somehow get a tax exempt.
$112 isn't bad. and 3 hours is about what we usually do anyhow before moving to a bar.
damn i hate sticks in this hot fire..
fwiw...as you know the crew is a hell of a lot bigger than us 10 or 12 rubes that hang out here all year long....
so thank you
Jan 16th?
The nightly gathering is too hard to make official, people go wherever they want. That being said Galivans has the huge location advantage so as long as they don't mess it up I think they'll end up winning a lion's share of the business for that.
We haven't spoke with Obbs yet to confirm. Wanna meet sometime soon if most are in favor?
I know a lot of people ate dinner there (myself included) but after we ate the tables were really in the way. I'd probably go for dinner upstairs if it meant more room downstairs. (Stick with same rough numbers of chairs, though...)
:ooh:
At Obbs?
Name the day and time!
 :sheepish:
