Two issues.

1st is that we don't run AbleMinds.

2nd is I don't want to be moderating a board where we don't even know who owns it.

3rd is I'm staying here.

oh i know that. i was more looking for thoughts on his request for a link. my personal opinion is not to add a link under the boards. we have our boards. we like our boards and the only reason i signed up for an account there was to secure my username. i have, and have always had links to the pioneer press boards (both the "current" page waiting for an install and the old ones at prospero that they created after they killed the water cooler) but that's more a matter of this is *their* hunt and i think we owe it to them to drive as much traffic their way as possible. same reason i embargo the clues on the site for the current hunt until after the carnival is over and direct the page for that hunt to twincities.com/treasurehunt.

but this, is not a hunt sponsor board and it isn't our board. i don't particularly care to clutter up the cooler crew site with non cooler crew stuff, but i wanna ask you guys' opinion on it first.

I know you know that.

I would say no to providing a link.

that's pretty much my thinking as well

so now the question is how to respond to the poor guy without making us sound like the elitist group everyone thinks we are....

Because of the large numbers of private boards associated with the Hunt each year, it is our policy not to link to those boards as we would be overwhelmed by the numbers of these that spring up each year. As we are all hunters, having a board to moderate is not something we are interested in doing as it would take time away from our goal of finding the medallion.

not interested in make work situations

ok so i'm not nearly as much of an asshole as i thought i was and am having something of a change of heart regarding providing a link. As I was looking through the users list on the cooler crew site (looking for obvious spam trolls, of which there are several), i came across his user name and now have his email address. I know its not something we really *want* to do because we'd rather have people here, but I was chatting with Rob Brass the other day (who always gently points out to me when something isn't working quite the way it ought to, so at least i know people are using the site), and he pointed out that the RSS feed from AW's group with the five newest messages from there seems out of place, since its an off-site link, which is exactly what this guy is looking for (moderating issues aside, which i know none of us wants to do; hell i don't think any of us want to do it here but someone has to and we haven't had to do anything in years so its really a non-issue). Heck, I've even got a link under "The Boards" menu item to AW that i hadn't really noticed until just now.

my goal with the site has always been to make it *the* place to go to get *any* information related to the treasure hunt (or at least the place to go when ma press doesn't update twincities.com/treasurehunt anyway), and i just keep thinking to myself how can i say that on one hand and then not put up a chat board link like that on the other? heck, i've still got a link to marley's kingscommons up there and he hasn't updated the site since '06 though artemis told me a couple of weeks ago that they have plans real soon now :smile:

so i guess the more i'm thinking about it, the more i'm thinking give the kid his link. its just a link and is going to attract people who wouldn't pay to play here anyway, and i tend to go through and clean up the menus in december anyway since i keep a lot of links to current pp content under the current hunt link in the hunt menu; if the board doesn't exist i can delete the link during my regular maintenance period.

Geez...when you put it that way, I guess we can do the link. Moderating that is another issue all together.

so far so good, except for the two emails i've gotten from people on the cooler crew site wondering about their account here. i sent them to mark.

that's a great suggestion and very doable. Not sure why I have not done that... bumping to near the top of the list.

Tim is there a way to reorder the edit/delete/reply/move/bookmark buttons on a post? I'm constantly hitting move when I mean to hit reply on my iPhone.

Much of what gets posted here also gets posted to the CoolerCrew facebook site. I don't know if that picture did, but there are plenty of things that get cross posted I've noticed.

There is always someone wanting to start trouble when it's found.

Maybe someone on this list could toss something our way if we brought attention to clue 4. It mentions both #19 and the big man. Plus he wants it in Arden Hills so it may be a nice pr move towards his effort.

The last line of the clue - "a Roman should do," evokes another reference to the Vikings Arden Hills stadium effort - Vikings wide receiver Devin "Aromashodu." "Woof" sounds like the last name of Vikings owner Ziggy "Wilf." (Also the previous time the puck was hidden in Tony Schmidt Park, it was camouflaged in almond (nut) "bark." "Babbling" about a stadium is what politicians have been doing for some time. "Make book" references gambling - a suggested funding source for a Vikings stadium.

since I had off work the past two days....I went out looking for the little blue ones...

was told 4 times the medallion was found....

but i haven't had that much fun in a long time...I found 30 of them...and most of them are being donated to charity

Good for you! 30 is a lot being folks had been looking and not finding any. How many different parks did you find those 30?

hehe. no just a lot of brainstorming.

I went to every park on the list

didn't find any in TS, Harriet, and Cherokee.

only found 1 in Como...dumb luck i think...up on the picnic gournds..

most i found in one park was 9 at beaver.

I'm sure there is more in como.....most of the ones i found was clearly tossed like a frsibee....except beaver where they was hidden above the snow.

You had good weather for hunting at any rate.
