Oh good eye on TMK ares. I'm impressed with us. We are definitely up for this 'job' more than I thought. Just not that much to post given FB and all. Although I feel that the presspub creeped our fb group I still see a need for AM. We should be noodling in here for the small town hunts.

agree. i'd prefer it for archival reasons and all, but the fb group is private.

just so you guys know, in the long shot that anyone ever asks, i just yanked about 300 user accounts from the cooler crew user database because of their resemblance to spam email addresses, not that they've ever spammed the site or anything. just emails that come from russia and china, and gmail/yahoo/hotmail addresses that simply look like a cat walked across the keyboard. pretty sure there aren't a whole lot of readers there. in the off chance that one of them was legitimate, and anyone hears anything, let me know. not that 90% of those addresses ever logged in to do anything other than create an account.

Thanks for the heads up. Seems to me that Tim had done some cleansing of some odd accounts that were set up at Able Minds.

ok to make life a bit easier on myself on the cc site i added in the spambot module that does a lookup everytime someone signs up for an account against a database of known spammers. i've grabbed that database and implemented it in my firewall rules, and now 30% of the ip addresses on the internet are blocked at the door so they cant even get in. most of these are in china and russia (none come from american networks so no worries there). the good news: i haven't had a single new user account registration come through all day. awesome. also, the amount of traffic i served between yesterday and today dropped by 60%. i am amused.

I haven't dug deep into the cc site but is there a place for links or C/P stories of videos and newspaper/internet articles from the various small town medallion hunts? Specifically I'm thinking of all the video they took last year at ABB pre hunt and the articles posted in FB of all the finds this past summer. Not just mine of course :smile:

For the stories that i saw links to I included them with the particular hunt. I may have missed some stories though. If I did shoot me a link or the story and I'll fix it :smile:

As for video, not at the moment, but I do take feature suggestions for the site :smile:

Mom and I were discussing last night that the pictures of previous year's buttons, that used to be on the site are not there any longer - at least not that we could find. Did you ditch those?

Shouldn't have but it's always possible with the changes I've made. Ill look. I was telling rob the other day (he was looking at the finders list and seeing he wasn't there for 07) treat this and the cc site just like the tsa signs say: if you see something, say something. :smile:

No it's me. I got away from here because life was too busy. Been an up and down year with Lily's mom. Hard trying to work 2-3 jobs, be a parent to a little one going from infant to toddler, deal with someone who you now think has a psychological disorder. Good times! :wink:
