I just paid the hosting fee for this forum. I also emailed Mark to be sure it gets credited properly.

I also checked the rate for renting the Newell Shelter. This year they are charging $150.00. I thought it was $75 previously.

At any rate, we should rent that for the second weekend of the hunt. Once committed, however, I think we'll just have to go with it. I will try to check this week if it's possible to reserve for both Sundays and cancel whichever one we don't need. I'm guessing not based on their cancellation policies.

Thoughts?

We don't. Alex admitted to it. He took the rest down with him. They may very well be banned from future hunts.

They could pay the ultimate price.

There is nothing we can do.

Maybe the best way is to put it up on ccolercrew.com. It's hunt news. Part of the history. Let's give that some thought.

Thanks ares. I can hardly believe it.

So irritates me.

The fact that this was done at all is pathetic.

Most of my work deals with personal data, HIPAA and Protected Health Information (PHI).

People can and do get fired for accessing information that they may have access to, but have no need to do so. Remember the issue with George Clooney and some woman a few years ago? They were brought to a hosptial after a car accident. Several people were fired afterwards for accessing information they didn't need to do their jobs. This is serious stuff.

This isn't HIPAA or PHI, but to access something you know you shouldn't is less than smart. These things can be traced.

It just makes me so sad that this now sits on the history of the hunt.

I love this hunt - more for the fun of noodling and the people I've met. This just sickens me. Doesn't matter who it is that did it, it just grates against my nerves.

I am glad the PP is making the stand they have. There needs to be integrity for this hunt or it will end.

Between the group of us, I just got off the phone with Alex. He found the file which anyone could have done because they changes one number in its name. Anyone could have done that. He called jake because he wants to report it to the pp and doesn't have contact info. Jake emailed it to Lori who told Alex at gabes must have been last Friday that they knew it was him when they put him on the pedestal. So yes while there is fault on Alex's part for seeking it out the far greater blame lies with the pp for havin it there in the first place.

And even though people get fired for inappropriate data access, they are equally as fired for putting he data where it shouldn't be in the first place.

I figured it was something to that effect, but in my work, if you access something you know you shouldn't, you will likely be disciplined up to and including loosing your job.

The PP will be more careful in the future - and I'm guessing no more songs, videos, etc. It just adds to the chance that someone will go snooping.

To protect the integrity of the hunt, I am glad the PP has made this public and removed the finders that weren't part of the actual find... and the money they must have made the gentlemen's agreement about being the finder didn't have a registered button.

They can still do them, they just have to control the access the same way they control access to the clues. Ie this piece of content is unavailable until this time. Everything has to go through whatever their back end code is using instead of sitting in a wide open directory on the web server. And I do agree about the integrity matter. They had to keep it so.

And as far as accessing things you shouldn't, I do agree to an extent. But with phi, there are very strict rules and policies in place on a private network, often separated from other networks. This on the other hand is a public web site making the data available to the public over the public Internet. Which we all know is stop like the wild west.

Ares, I agree, but this wasn't sitting out there with a link. One had to go looking for it to find it. The fault is with both the PP and anyone going searching for that information.

However, and I didn't pay attention to the urls, but if you noticed that clue 7's song was named clue7.mp3, 8's was clue8.mp3 wouldn't you at least be a little curious if 9's was clue9.mp3? I know I would. And it's hard to say that if the files are named like that that there isn't a link available. It's just logic. Id definitely look for it. Wouldn't listen because I enjoyed the unscrambling part but I'd look.

At any rate, I'm glad the PP is doing what they can to keep this a hunt worth spending time on.

I'm looking forward to next year and a new hunt, a new PDG site, and a different park.

This was the last thing I was expecting.

I think I'm heading to the sheets.

We have a surprise party to go to tomorrow for one of my best friends. Because they now live in northern Minnesota, I don't get to see her as often as I'd like, and I'm beside myself with excitement.

I'm just so irritated this happened to this hunt obsession we suffer from and so heart sick sad.

look at the # of fb posts in just the last day

The downside to any of this is that we, collectively as the Cooler Crew, are being dragged down by association.

Though we may never know the full story, this controversy hurts the integrity of the hunt.

While I agree with most of the PP decision, I agree for totally different reasons. So while the outcome works for me I disagree with how they came to make that happen.

Terry

CM - I do believe by their own article that the song associated with the clue was not secure. For that they are at fault.

I would love to hear your reasons for agreeing with the outcome.

I doubt we'll ever get the full story.

Clue Master

I do know the whole story and unlike Jake I won't divulge any info that isn't mine to divulge. Now it bit him in the ass. He should be glad he did what he did given the outcome and all but it still wasn't his place to tell the PP anything at all.

But my reasons are more personal. Some were what everyone was talking about prior to this article. The only deal that mattered was made with Nate and Lange. Nobody else should have been a part of the find. I have many more reasons but they don't matter now anyway. I'm still friends with all of them but didn't agree with their actions following the find by another unrelated party. Now Lange is out an additional 3k because of this crap.

I know that I for one will never say shit to the PP if I see a hole in their system if this is how they treat a favor. I think they did more hurt than good by doing this. It only increases actual hacking and stifles anyone who hears of a breach. Good job PP

Hey Hosts - Stepping outside this PP stuff I have a question for yall. Because I gifted J a year's subscription without knowing that she already bought one I have an extra year coming my way. Neither J nor I want it if I can gift it to someone else. I'm bringing this to you so we can gift someone who would actually use it. I paid for J's sis for this past year and she never used it. I paid for a few others in the past who did use it and never knew it was me which was nice. The problem is picking someone who might not necessarily be current on the boards who would appreciate the "'unanimous'" gift.

Ideas?

Looks like my decision may have been made for me. I haven't replied yet. Any objections?

Hey Clue Master!

I'm not sure if you remember me, but this is Med2K from the (much older) PP medallion hunt forums. I just was surfing the WCCO site and came across the story they did on you all for the pre-dig gig this year and though I spotted you in the background. I just wanted to check in and see how you (and the rest of the crew) are doing. I haven't been able to hunt as much in the past years and lost touch with the peoples forum website (stingy with the posting fee might be a better term  )

I got your email from the cooler crew website which I hadn't been to in a while, it was great catching up on things a bit there. (And see I was still listen in the roster!)

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and hope you and everyone else are doing well. Is the crew from the early days all around? THX & Scribe? Tim? Ares?Me2? The Mape Gui? ESD? Zeph?Allison? I know I am probably missing more.

Hope all is well and hopefully I'll get back to the boards soon.

Take care,

Brent (a.k.a. Med2K)

How and where should I post this code to include a clock with the correct time at the top of the main page?

Fyi.

Thanks! I think I remember those boards, I believe I was there the first year you all made the switch but haven't been back since. I don't want to take advantage of your generosity, but if you have an extra posting fee already set up then I would be very grateful if you decide put that towards me. However, if you want to save that for yourself or someone else somewhere down the road, I completely understand. I completely forgot about Dave's hunt, it would be fun to get involved with that again!

Would love to catch up with everyone, thanks again!

Clue don't let forythia post here...she only wants to post stuff against Darklady cause she posted personal info on DL, and she got banned from there. So she is looking for a place where she is not banned and that is very few forums..

Please don't let her in here...and bash other posters

I've sent no reply as of yet

I assume that we won't allow any personal bashing or information on our boards as well but thought I'd post it for you guys so you know what's up if it starts.

btw - I think it's a bunk profile since I can't see any posts out there by them nor any info. Anybody else see anything?

She posts in several forums. She has been around for years. I know she was on World Crossing and followed here when that went away. The full name is la forsythia something or another. I just read enough of the other threads here to have seen her around.

I found this exchange:

La forsythia de chamomile, "Wolf's Man Cave" #2101, 4 Mar 2012 6:18 am'

I had seen she had posted something in Mikey's folder, but that has since been deleted. Froggy made a comment there. I think she's trolling for somewhere to land.

We don't ban here until we need to, but it's good to have the head's up. IGenerally, we don't have the threads that seem to spark her interest here or she would have been here long ago.
