I got there about 5:30pm saw the line only had about 4 kids in it...so I just got in the line and didn't tell anybody about the 7:30pm appointment I had.
I'm going to get coal this year as I just ticked off Santa at 7:30pm.
I was out at the MOA today and stopped by the "real" Santa's joint. Figgy Pudding, the elf at the cash register, gave me the info to make a reservation but the I remembered that my kids are adults.
Me2's comment (in another thread) about the lack of crowds at the mall was true at Rosedale yesterday and at the MOA today. MOA was kind of busy, but not nuts. Give it a couple of weeks, I guess.
I drove out to Rosedale at 8:45 am, REI says it didn't open til 11! :frown: ...so I drove to Best Buy ... there was a line outside but I got there just as they opened the doors at 9 so I got to walk right in and get what I wanted... I drove over to the mall and parked at Herbergers and walked in... I didn't need anything at Herbergers so I walked in to the mall and noticed all these people just walking. not powerwalking. just walking. ALL of the stores were closed except the main corner stores, jc penney, herbergers, macys. blah, blah, blah,my point?...
I felt like I was in Dawn of the Dead where literally a hundred people were aimlessly walking around the mall. no one was in a hurry and no one was shopping because all the stores didn't open til 11!!!!!! it was as if no one knew what to do - they let us in the mall but nothings open.
the power walkers always pissed me off, when I was working there, at Marshalfields....
they'd treat that "outer perimeter" of the mall floor, like a bike path.... if you happened to walk on that part, they'd yell at you to move, or give you dirty looks..
dude... theres a bajillion-gazillion feet of floor space to, do your stupid - arms flailing, like a spastic lunatic - in your crappy 1980's windbreaker suit - walk on.... and you're gonna throw a fit over THIS 2 foot wide area, right here?!?!?!?
Stop crawling the web and start burning rubber with scorching speeds up to 4 times faster than 1.5 Mbps DSL, up to 7 times faster than 768 Kbps DSL, and up to 100 times faster than 56 Kbps dial-up! You’ll get free tools like McAfee® security software to keep all your info and computer safe. And with Comcast.net, you’ll get amazing free content and features like The Fan™, your one-stop source for the best online video.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of Comcast at all. If there wasn't the monopoly I'd jump ship in no time. But where else are you gonna get a fast cable connection?
right now, they're only in the Minneapolis area....
but Comcast runs it anyhow....
they'll be changing all of the cable stuff over to one system, sooner or later... to where it'll look like it does on the saint paul side....
we heard all about it, during training classes, when I was there...
thats one reason im glad im not there anymore.... I wont have to deal with all the complaints when everything doesnt work as smooth as it "sounds" like it should.
I'm just waiting for a better ISP to come around. Someplace that offers fiber optic lines. Of course the infrastructure would be immense... Then there's broadband over powerlines... Hang in there, something will replace comcast as the "top dog" sooner or later.
I'd pass on the McAfee security software if you already have norton or something else. I tried downloading it on my last computer and it slowed everything down so much I had to get rid of it.
Dial up sucks. Go for the broadband. Once you do, you'll never go back.
I use the McAfee...used to pay for it until Comcast started offering it free with the package. I haven't had any problems with it. It updates regularly and doesn't cause any significant slow downs except when it's installing the updates and it is only noticeable for a few minutes.
Sadly Comcast is the only possible way I could get high speed. They're the only company that offers it to this address... which unfortunatly isn't allowed to order their services, due to an outstanding balance. Luckily someone invented ladders, which people like me can use in dark alleys, so I can watch Monday Night Raw every week.
I should clarify. I used McAfee with no problems when I had the store bought version. I had the store bought version of Norton on my old computer and ran out of my prescription, so I uninstalled it and tried the free McAfee. Thats when I had the problems. If your already using McAfee it shouldn't be an issue. Its just that Norton and McAfee dont always get along real well.
With Norton all you have to do when your virus subscription expires is uninstall it and then reinstall it. You'll have to re-activate it but as long as you have a legit CD KEY there's no limit to the number of times you can activate it. Or at least not with my copy. Also, there are other... ways... to tricking Norton into thinking it hasn't expired yet.
Time Warner and Comcast made a deal, Comcast took over all of the Time Warner territory in the Minneapolis area in exchange for other markets in other states. So Comcast is the big boy here for the time being.
When OTiS started it was some small cable company(I forget the name) then it went to AT&T Broadband, now Comcast. Funny that his paystubs never switched to AT&T Broadband...they finally changed over when Comcast took over.
Some of their services are better then others, And for sure some reps are much better then others. i have serious issues with their call center!!
Was it Road Runner originally? I bid on Road Runner at a silent auction back when and won. I got a year's service for $25! Then it went to ATTBB and now Comcast.
Cable is usually faster than dsl, but dsl is dedicated. Meaning that cable users share bandwidth with other subscribers in their area. Dsl is dedicated. That means that you will always have more or less the same speed with dsl, whereas cable can get bogged down during peak hours when a lot of people are online. Other than those peak hours, cable is usually faster.
Roadrunner was kinda like a vendor that AT&T used that provided their broadband I believe. That was until they were able to give them the boot too...hahah. I had to look it up but before AT&T they were MediaOne.(this was killing me i feel better now)
Comcast only fill their hubs to 70% capacity (or something along those lines). This is to avoid any noticable speed difference during peek times. This is their solution to that.
1st, Me2 tagline is actually a poem that I have kept with me for as long as I can remember....funny thing is that it is an old Nike Just do it commercial..haha..
2nd. Santa had to be cancelled as there was a Cub Scout meeting instead. We have rescheduled to next Monday at 7. I will let you know then!
