I heard a rumor that no details on the fundraiser have made it to the message board yet so here goes...
The Cooler Crew, Ideal Hall, and Como Park Mason Lodge are putting on a fundraiser for the Mark Evenson Memorial Fund. The event is Sunday, March 14th from noon to 4pm at Ideal Hall in St. Paul at 1494 Dale St. Ideal Hall will be providing a pasta lunch and Como Park Mason Lodge will be arranging an area for playing boardgames. Tickets are just $5 to get in, and then there will also be a silent auction going on. Whatever money we raise we hope to get matched by the Minnesota Masonic Charities. Thus all you have to do is come, pay $5 for lunch and games, and at least $10 will go towards the cause (more if you bid on silent auction items).
Now that I've posted the details for the fundraiser, it seems they have changed. In fact, it looks like it is getting cancelled altogether for now. I just talked to Sue and we decided we weren't going to be able to go forward so there will not be a fundraiser on the 14th. However, we will still have the Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt kickoff party at Yarusso's on the 12th.
no fundraiser? I like going to them, but if its canceled that must mean Nicole must have the headstone covered? and household bills covered for a while?
thats good news.
when is the stone gonna be placed? or has it?
I happen to like Calvary and visit there often to take cool pictures - you guys know me and cemeteries. I'd like to get a shot of Marks headstone.
Next Saturday morning (13th) starting at 9 am with a 'Media event' at 11 - anyone else wanna go down to the new field (as a group) and see this? I'd suggest meeting at the MOA or the Vet's Home and riding the train downtown.
After calling the 800-33-TWINS number, the operator said it's just an 'External' event. I thought you could get into the field concourses at least and have a look around. Bummer.
Maybe THIS would be the event to attend: The U of M game is more like an open house... Tickets will be sold on a general admission basis for $2 with all proceeds benefitting the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. There will be no pre-sale of tickets for these events as fans can secure general admission passes exclusively at all Target Field ticket office locations starting at 8 a.m. on March 27. Target Field gates will open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. for this event. Attendance will be capped at 25,000 fans.
They are doing tours of the Target Field for season ticket holders on Sat. March 20th and then non-season ticket holders is on Sun. March 21st. Sounds like today they took the blanket off the field and the grass looks fantastic!
I called the Twins Box Office and they said they are not going to limit the number of tickets per person buying - within reason. I guess if anyone would want to go I'd be OK with getting down there early and buy a dozen tickets or so.
Ticket Office Opens at 8:00, Gates open at 9:00 - the Gopher Game is not until 1:00 - they anticipate a lot of people will just wander the stadium for a couple hours and then leave and not stay for the Gopher Game. I think it would be more fun to actually SEE a game inside the field to get an idea of 'best seats' and that kind of thing. There's something like 4 restaurants inside/outside the stadium, so there's plenty of places with time to kill. If anything Brit's pub is only about 7 blocks away. I would assume if anyone wanted to come later to the game itself I could meet them at the gate...
Hi everyone! I just got the news of the mock hunt. I wish I could do it but I have to bow out. I have a really full work weeks these next two weeks. Have fun everyone.
It seems a bit funny how there was so much energy at the Rehash and then it died off so quickly. We're going ahead with the Mock Hunt anyway and hopefully that will get energy back into things. Here's a copy of my official posting:
I'm afraid some personal matters at home have kept me from promoting this hunt more or earlier, but the hunt will go on and in fact it will start tomorrow (Friday). Clues are written, the medallion is hidden, and there will be prize money to be won.
The kickoff for the hunt will be Friday, March 12th at Yarusso's this year. They've offered us half price on appetizerrs and drinks and their private room for our use. We'll meet starting at 5pm and the clue will be released at 6pm. After that, stick around and socialize and maybe some other activity will even follow, or perhaps you'll want to run out and look for the treasure! If you're not familiar with Yarusso's, it is on Payne Ave. across from Swede Hollow. Check out their website at http://www.yarussos.com/ for more information.
As for the hunt itself, it will be 12 clues as usual, one per day with each clue released at 6pm. The hunt is limited to public property in St. Paul. It will not be hidden in or on water, up a tree, on top of a building, on a steep hillside, inside anything electrical, or in anything else that would make you question if looking there might be a bad idea.
The prize will be somewhere between $200 and $500 depending on participation. If you'd like to participate as a registered hunter, the cost is $10 and you are eligible to win the entire prize. All money brought in this way will go towards the prize. If you wish to participate as a non-registered hunter and you win, you will get $100 and any additional registration money will go towards some other Cooler Crew cause.
To register, you can pay me at the kickoff event. If you can't make that, you can also send me the money via Paypal at this email or you can request an address to send a check to. You may register up through the release of the 4th clue. The hunt will continue until the treasure is found, though I do reserve the right to end the hunt early if there is cause to do so. In the unlikely event of an aborted hunt, registration fees will be returned.
I believe that covers everything, but if there are any questions, feel free to post them.
I am STILL curious who may want to go to the new Target (Twins) Field in a couple Saturdays (27th) for the Gophers Exhibition Game. I'm willing to get there early for tickets.
Also a reminder to Twins Fans - this Saturday Morning they are going to have a 'Media Event' at the Twins Plaza and single game tickets go on sale for the new season.
I would have liked to have gone to the Twins thing, but that is the day of Grand Lodge for the Masons so I will be out in St. Cloud that day.
Speaking of Masons, some of you have mentioned in the past that you may have an interest in joining. That's all you need to qualify for a free barbecue that the Scottish Rite (a Masonic subset) is putting on the evening of Wednesday, April 28th. It's a chance to meet people who are already involved in it and get a free meal at the same time! If anyone might be interested in that, let me know and I'll get you a ticket.
Not sure if I should post this or not, but what the hell, here goes. I'm trying to start a social media consulting business. On linkedin Annette Yarusso asked a few weeks back for some promotional ideas. I told her I could help her make a lot more money and do a lot more with social media (like facebook and twitter) and she asked for some examples. I gave her one, like doing Trivia for coupons, with the idea being that she'd hire me (or at the very least work with me to gain experience) to do more.
Guess who's been doing daily Rat pack trivia on facebook and hasn't returned an e-mail in a week? Yup.
Stupid me for giving out the idea, but I thought I was talking amongst friends with Yarusso's. Especially since I was the one that worked with them on the drink specials and stuff to entice hunters to go and stay at their place.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. (Edited for your protection.)
Maybe they'll come back to you for more professional direction if it doesn't work that well?
On the plus side, you've learned about a major pitfall early on and without significant consequence and what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. Now you just have to figure out how to pitch your ideas in such a way that they can't be easily stolen.
A few of us are going to Buggs bar tonight to celebrate the birthdays. Feel free to stop on down for one or two.
would love to but its an hour away lol I will have a cold one here and think of you guys
I'll have one for you as well.

I thought I would have a lot of catching up to do.
We will see some of you Friday night at Yurussos.
