Oh, and the reason for my moving to South Dakota? That's the good news. I am engaged, and will be living there with my wife. At least until she graduates. I am looking to go to graduate school there too. After that, for now we're looking at moving back here. So it's kind of just temporary. :)
Not officially. We knew we were meant for each other, we knew we wanted to get married and were committed to each other. I was just waiting for her to be here, so I could take her to the spot I had picked out and propose to her. That made it "official" I guess :)
well, in response, let me just say unofficially, "congratulations". officially, "would you like the blindfold and cigarette or coffin now or later?"
and i'll fully expect that when the day comes when what i now regard as the biggest mistake of my life turns into the best one, that i'll get the same treatment in return :)
I'll have to give you a virtual blindfold and cigarette, since you don't really exist, right? That, or the wedding would be hidden to keep up the mysterious Ares persona, right? ;)
Thank you everyone. I should be in Minnesota still for next years hunt. After that, I will be in South Dakota for an unknown time. During the hunt, I'll still be keeping up with the clues, probably up late waiting for the clues online, giving my advice on where the park may be. Actually, that may turn out well. I can sit home comfortably for most of it while you guys go out doing the dirty work digging. I will try and make it back here as much as I can, most likely during the weekend. My fiancee has said I could come back. I'm going to try and get her into it if I can. We'll just see how it goes. :)
I don't know if you'd know the location of where I proposed. It's this little place called the Frog Pond, in this little park named Como. We both made wishes up top, where the source of the waterfall is. She went first, I went second. When she asked what I wished for, I got down on a knee, pulled out a ring, and said I wished for her to be my wife.
Yes, she said yes fairly quickly. As far as when and where, we are not sure. We'll be discussing that in the near future. Sorry to say, we will not be getting married at the Pioneer Press just before a clue comes out, as some have suggested. Thank you, and all suggestions welcome :)
Ring fit her, I learned her ring size a long time ago. Somewhat surprised, although we have discussed marriage a while. She has been patiently waiting for me to ask, although I will have to ask if she had any suspicions leading up to it. Her ring is nothing fancy. We both are the type who aren't into fancy things. It's a quarter carat round cut diamond on a gold band.
I was more nervous about having some privacy for us I guess. I wasn't as nervous as expected, since I've had the spot picked out for so long and having rehearsed things for a while. I also didn't really have to worry about her saying no ;)
Hehe, see you Terry. I will, and I will try not to talk about this too much. I don't want you guys getting sick of hearing about me. But I will keep everyone posted.
oh, you needn't worry about us getting sick of hearing about you, kids. i've got it from one of us that some good gossip is needed, and that i'd have to make my own up if i couldn't dig anything up. i'd much rather not have to make things up you know :)
congrats kids! hey! how about getting married at the torchlight parade! king Boreas could be the best man and we will all be your groomsmen and brides maids! ;) and me2 could throw green m&m's instead of rice!
although I guess I cant really call it camping anymore, the camper is almost like having a second home except the hot water doesn't last long enough for a long shower!
Hehe, thanks for the ideas involving the winter carnival, but I don't think it will come to us. While it probably would be romantic and good for a movie, we don't want it to get that out of control. We're both kind of private with regards to things like this I guess. As of now, we're not planning a huge wedding. Just something small and private. We don't want or need a huge production. The act itself is what matters to us :)
nope, no lake, just a river and it's pretty high and running very fast right now. they have showers at the bathrooms, I just like not having to get ready with a bunch of teenagers starring at me!:) makes ya wonder what they are thinking! like...... ::man! she is old!::
well, considering, we've got it defined elsewhere that old = age of ares + 6 (just to ensure that me2 got snagged up in her own game), and you've got a couple of years on her, iirc, yeah that'd be justified :)
I have a cousin who is like a sister to me, and she's getting married next year too. It's amusing, we've done a lot of things together at the same time, like graduating. Now we're getting married around the same time. She's going with a bigger wedding. I don't want to compete with her. she can have the big one, I'll have the smaller one.
Yeah. you might know it as a state bordering southern Minnesota to the west ;)
:-)
Yeah, I know where it is. I went there with my parents a couple times when I was a kid.
that's ok. we didn't want to hear the good news anyway.

Congrats TMK!
I thought you were already engaged?

something like that :)
I can't believe no one else has asked yet: Will you still be here for the hunt? I **need** your insight and expertise!
Ares or THX, what's this about Jethro?
Before anyone gets too worried about drinking their Coke, you might want to check out this page: http://www.snopes2.com/cokelore/
i stand corrected.
speaking of missing persons, where have you been, snow?

Hi Dal :)
AW- cool info on Coke but I was having fun messing with Ares whether it was true or not!

Congrats TMK!

Your fiance is a lucky gal!!!
Thanks Terry, but I like to think of myself just as lucky, if not luckier. :)
So do tell....
How did you ask? Where did you ask? Give us the details!
I don't know if you'd know the location of where I proposed. It's this little place called the Frog Pond, in this little park named Como. We both made wishes up top, where the source of the waterfall is. She went first, I went second. Isn't that sweet? Did she say yes right away?
When and where is the wedding? Any date set yet?
Yes, she said yes fairly quickly. As far as when and where, we are not sure. We'll be discussing that in the near future. Sorry to say, we will not be getting married at the Pioneer Press just before a clue comes out, as some have suggested. Thank you, and all suggestions welcome :)
So did the ring fit her or does she need to get it sized?
Did she seemed surprised?
What sort of ring did you get her?
Ring fit her, I learned her ring size a long time ago. Somewhat surprised, although we have discussed marriage a while. She has been patiently waiting for me to ask, although I will have to ask if she had any suspicions leading up to it. Her ring is nothing fancy. We both are the type who aren't into fancy things. Simple elegance!
Were you nervous?
I was more nervous about having some privacy for us I guess. I wasn't as nervous as expected, since I've had the spot picked out for so long and having rehearsed things for a while. I also didn't really have to worry about her saying no ;)
I'm really happy for you that things turned out well. Congratulations, again!
I best scoot here. It's been a long day with another long one on tap for tomorrow. I have dishes to do and some other domestic things that need doing.
Keep us posted of the plans as they get settled, okay?
Hehe, see you Terry. I will, and I will try not to talk about this too much. I don't want you guys getting sick of hearing about me. But I will keep everyone posted.

Kids, What a great proposal, it should be a scene in the documentary!
congrats kids! hey! how about getting married at the torchlight parade! king Boreas could be the best man and we will all be your groomsmen and brides maids! ;) and me2 could throw green m&m's instead of rice!
geez. and i thought he would kill mefor bringing up all the hunt-related wedding ideas :)
how ya been, ll?
pretty darn good ares, been camping every weekend for two months now. can't wait to get back up there!
although I guess I cant really call it camping anymore, the camper is almost like having a second home except the hot water doesn't last long enough for a long shower!
there's always the lake you could use :)
