It's a bit gray and cool up north, but it's still beautiful. There's all the new spring green everywhere. It would really sparkle in sunlight, but it's very pretty anyways.
I got a new computer for up here so I'm spending the afternoon downloading updates and installing software. The old pute is going in for a total redo and then will get handed down to the daughter.
yes dear. when was the last time you saw me capitalise anything?
come on, you've gotta be faster than that. we were just talking about it the other day (you even commented on the coincidence that we were both thinking about doing it).
Inks and I were north this weekend. He planned on staying north for a couple more days and I had to come back tonight.
Inks decided to smoke a turkey today. He started it about 10 this morning. It still wasn't done at 8:30 when I left this evening.
When I got home, I called to let him know I had arrived safe and sound.
Just before that he had headed out to check the smoker again and found two huge raccoons (he said they were the size of bear cubs) heading towards the smoker. He managed to shoo them off long enough to get the turkey and then finished it off in the oven.
If he hadn't gone out when he did, those raccoons would have had quite the dinner.
This probably belongs in the jokes thread, but it goes with the topic at hand. A young man took a job at the local farm collecting turkey semen for artificial insemination. As he approached one turkey, it said "Gobble gobble." He said to the turkey, "Screw you, buddy. You're getting a handjob like everyone else."
Can a couple of youse guys try something for me? Go to my folder, click on In Memory of Maxx, then see if you notice a discussion. I log out, but still see it. It should be limited access now. Also, when my sons log in, the page shows MY messages read, etc.
it was my bad memory, or not checking to make sure I'd changed the list. It's really no big deal, but the kids don't want anyone else reading what they post.
I don't understand the log-out deal though. If I log out through the website, and it tells me I'm logged out, can there be a cookie that keeps me logged in. Whatever it is, it's convenient for me, but not for them.
a partial eclipse begins in the West as we travel south on 53 the sun looks abnormally bright but still we look, curious to see our efforts are rewarded with sunspots and a gradually wanning moon and we watched for 30 miles but the clouds came in too soon
the sun looked like a Pac-Man and ate those first ghost clouds
thunderheads covered the sky the rain started pouring down but we desperately needed the relief and it cooled the humid town when natures consciousness combine it's quite a sight to behold the interplay of sun and rain Mother Natures wonder never grows old
KAL-6/11/02 Experience of the Solar eclipse 6/10/02 (from no. east MN)
Very nice, Kal! Glad someone had a chance to view that eclipse.
My daughter, after spending a few weeks in Miami with a friend, is heading north again today. She'll be driving so the worrying commences. Praying for clear skies all the way.
Inks brought the step van back south with him and is planning on working to get the rusty parts taken care of and ready to paint. I wonder how long that will take. Several times he's been offered more money than he paid for it.
I'd like to delurk for just a second to say that I have in fact made a pilgrimage to the Mall of America and was thoroughly underwhelmed because, well, it's a mall, albeit a reaaaaaaallly big one.
Oh, and I'm seconding the love on Krispy Kremes. When your biggest competitor says you have established a mystique, you know you have arrived.
A-Ha !!
Hoo-ha!
:: stretches. yawns. ::
mornin' sam.
finally i get a krispy kreme. yum. those things like melt and go instantly to your waist.
and who might the kris s. be?
I don't know who Kris S. is but, he/she was on moderated because of the moderated issue.
I assume Kris posted that when we were playing around with white font and I just checked the Moderated last night.
I rarely check it anymore because most everyone took care of the issue.
Doesn't Ian have a kid named Kris?
that's probably who it is, given the email address in the profile.
yes, i posted it a couple days ago. forgot i was signed on as him. good detective work
Ian-That is... priceless :(
Thanks , beans.

Maybe there'll be time for a nap. BBL

That was pretty 'lamo' Ares-It took me a minute to figure out what you did! :) You need to capitalize the first letter.
Ian-thats so funny- Maxx's nose looks like your sons nose :) - looking like his owner

Yikes! I'm glad he got his turkey before they did!

Sounds like they maybe had gotten a few turkeys in their day already.

the discussion is still there for me, ian.
you're welcome.
I think Ares showing restraint is trying to keep from spewing coke on his monitor.
I still see the discussion as well, Ian.
you got it fixed, ian.

Cool. I wish it wouldn't have been overcast here.

Have a way cooler day everyone!
For all you Krispy Kreme fans, there is a Krispy Kreme being built in the Mall of America. Not sure when it will open though.
mmmmm. krispy kreme.
i could go for one or two of those right now.
hopefully the lines there won't be as bad as in maple grove.
Ah, the megamall. Another place I don't go.
<sending good driving vibes to Terrys Daughter>
the megamall. Another place I don't go.
AAAGGGHHH! The nightmares! Don't even get me started on that place, I worked there before it opened and for the first year and a half!
<Shudders> ;)
MCL!

orca! how'd the snarkful one happen to find the cooler crew refuge?
as for the mall, if you think its big now, they're planning on doubling its size, though i'm not quite sure how the architecture there's gonna work.
