oh yeah there is that one little rule of marriage that you touched on. lemme see if i can properly quote jeff foxworthy. "if she ain't happy, you ain't happy. and if she ain't happy long enough you're gonna be unhappy with half of your stuff."
not a peep from her (i wouldn't be surprised if she were still out digging :), and yup the last any of us knew she was supposed to get married next month.
no he's not. for that matter, none of the rest of the options presented apply to him either. we all know why, and we're not gonna discuss it beyond that. :)
evenin' sam.
oh and meg's still in cali. and how can you possibly like minneapolis? working there doesn't count either.
and how can you possibly like minneapolis? working there doesn't count either.
How can I like Minneapolis? Cuz it's got everything that St Paul doesn't. :-)
I like St Paul but I like Minneapolis as well. I've lived in both cities (More in Minneapolis) and they're both pretty cool. I don't understan the underlying "feud" between the two cities.
Been sooo busy lately with that real world that keeps bothering that I've hardly had time to get here for more than some quick slogging.
I must comment on the Minneapolis vs. St. Paul thing...
Minneapolis doesn't have the Winter Carnival. Minneapolis also has all those weirdly numbered and alphabetical streets that are supposed to make sense but somehow I always get lost on that side of the river. As long as I live, I'll never get to know my way around Minneapolis so I much favor St. Paul.
My word, y'all stay up late. Thanks for the welcome, me2!
Here's my one Minneapolis/St. Paul story. I was living in Europe, in Spain, and it got humid, so I took three night-trains - Madrid to Paris, Paris to Copenhagen, Copenhagen to Norway - and on the last leg of that, I made friends with a woman from St. Paul. She was a nurse. She was a blast. We traveled thru Scandinavia for a few days, and oh my word did they stare at that black woman.
Madrid to Paris, Paris to Copenhagen, Copenhagen to Norway
Sounds like a great adventure Meg,Good to see you here!
I've also lived in both St Paul and Mpls and like them each for their own style- St Paul is older and more traditional, while Mpls is more progressive and a little faster. Its the Ying and the Yang, alone they would seem incomplete.
Funny, since we're discussing it, I had a fun discussion with a Star-Trib salesman today. He was offering this "too good to pass up price" for home delivery, which I said I wasn't interested in because I read the Pioneer Press. He quickly informed me that the Strib is no longer the MPLS Strib, but the TWIN CITIES Strib and is full of St paul info and news. I just laughed at him and told him when the Strib starts an annual treasure hunt I might think of subscribing. He wasn't sure what to say, so he said good day.
terry, its not so much all thing west of the river that i don't like, just minneapolis proper. go west of minneapolis and things aren't so nice and orderly-like. its kinda comforting. it won't stop me, however, from giving me2 a hard time about living on the minneapolis side of the river.
yup, meg. we stay up late around here. it actually tends to become an around the clock affair for us come late january.
artemis, what ian said! my dad actually had the nerve to tell a strib salesman that he thought st. paul should annex the portion east of the river, build a wall around the rest and "remove" (he used a much more interesting word) the bridges between the two, so the west-o-the-river portion could be turned into a penal colony
Meg, were they intentionally being rude or have they just not seen many black people?
I imagine the latter. We were staring at them, too. But my friend was also quite large, physcially and psychically; she attracted attention, and at the time I had a Southern European tan and black hair to my ass. That wasn't a usual sight in Norway, either. It was fun, if a bit oppressive. Luckily my friend thought it was funny rather than threatening. (This was in the late 80s, as well - possibly the Norwegians have had their cultural boundaries broadened since then.)
My sister told me about a day last week when she actually SAW YOU on this side of the river in your white car...she told me about it to make sure you were not stalking me :) -I told her you had already told me you had been OVER HERE - ON THIS SIDE OF THE RIVER so you were COOL!
i've made no such claim. never. you must have misunderstood me. you must be thinking about what i said at crosby. think back to it. squeal and you don't get a ride back home over there (which incidentally only applied to you, not sarah) :)
very sick of it terry. we just had the power blip off here at work; long enough that the computers' power supplies couldn't carry past it. anyone know what a thousand computers all coming back on at the same time sounds like? :)
well, he knows i've got one. he shoulda said "well, your best friend in the whole world has one and he didn't have to ask his wife/fiancée/girlfriend before he bought his." that's what my brother always tells my dad to tell my mom. the kid next door could get one if he wanted it.
Then he would be sent to his room....but he would like that too ;)
little joesy
if I am happy-he's happy ;)
that's what I've been doing wrong
Hi Ian! Where's your avatar?
oh yeah there is that one little rule of marriage that you touched on. lemme see if i can properly quote jeff foxworthy. "if she ain't happy, you ain't happy. and if she ain't happy long enough you're gonna be unhappy with half of your stuff."
oh-it's a mailbox...your not a mailman.
Hi,
I like to change it a bit, and I don't have many graphics on this computer yet.
No, but I've been getting e-mail almost non-stop for a few days.
Anyone heard from GREEN? She is supposed to get married next month (?)
not a peep from her (i wouldn't be surprised if she were still out digging :), and yup the last any of us knew she was supposed to get married next month.
too soon. i hate when that happens!
I'm here-made it! I was very tangled in the threads!
JOE

Hey, I finished just fine ;)
Hey, I finished just fine ;)
yeah, yeah, yeah.
but you helped-thanks for the 'heads up' :)
you're welcome. i just love having a hand in things and helping out.
I have some trees that need trimming, a fence replaced, a fireplace put in, some rocks in the back hauled to the front. How about the 6th? :)
i'll get back to ya on that :)
oh yeah, my back needs help too ;)
i dunno if i can do anything about that though. sorry. :)
Welcome to Minnesota, Meg. :-)
.....your best friend in the whole world has one and he didn't have to ask his wife/fiancée/girlfriend before he bought his."
And he's not married, is he? ;)
....and so she's not too familiar with things minnesotan. like our disgust for the city of minneapolis.
Hey, I like Minneapolis!

honestly, i don't get it either.
Then why you giving me crap about Minneapolis.
Some of "us" even live in Minneapolis. I believe Rush Harley lives in MPLS.
Nite' Sam. Time for bed.
because its fun :)

Ares, Me2 lives "over there"?
Meg, were they intentionally being rude or have they just not seen many black people?
yup, jt. up on yonder bluff. hence the cool view kids and i got of the fireworks on harriet island on memorial day.
ok, what's the deal with pre-gapped spark plugs? i just bought a set to replace the ones in my hoopty. each of them is 5 thousandths out of spec!

oh, i bet it was an interesting experience!
oh, i bet it was an interesting experience!
It is;-)
see meg. orca. right there. :)
Ares, I thought you meant Me2 was in MPLS. Not that she simply lived across the river.
nope. she's in st. paul. just on the wrong side of the river in it.
sorry dear, but i'm never gonna stop that :)
My sister told me about a day last week when she actually SAW YOU on this side of the river in your white car...she told me about it to make sure you were not stalking me :) -I told her you had already told me you had been OVER HERE - ON THIS SIDE OF THE RIVER so you were COOL!
BUSTED!
uh, why am i busted now and not wednesday when i was over there?
Cause you were seen where you claim not to ever go. I thought you said you don't like to or don't ever come...OVER HERE (OVER THERE to you)
i've made no such claim. never. you must have misunderstood me. you must be thinking about what i said at crosby. think back to it. squeal and you don't get a ride back home over there (which incidentally only applied to you, not sarah) :)
sorry :(....sooooo sorry
(like that commercial where the kid knocks over kool-aid and mom gets the papertowels and saves the day)
no you're not. but i'll forgive ya anyway.
er, i mean, yes dear. apology accepted.
Good Morning!
It's thundering again. Anyone else sick of the rain stuff?
Hope you all have a way cooler day. Stay dry!
very sick of it terry. we just had the power blip off here at work; long enough that the computers' power supplies couldn't carry past it. anyone know what a thousand computers all coming back on at the same time sounds like? :)
Mornin' Sam
