...and not to intrude, but I scored a job I've wanted for a looong time this week! I am now the new photographer for "The company that takes school photos" ...Only bad thing is that my time will no longer be laced with such freedom, but, this is much more "career" oriented than singing telegrams. Hope all things are cooler with all of you!!!
I got some exciting news today. My son, who is in Michigan finishing his thesis for his masters has applied for the Peace Corps. Part of his email this morning...
I got into the Peace Corps!! Well, sort of. I've been nominated at least. Now I have to be officially "invited" by the DC office, which won't happen until I pass medical clearance. But for now, I am nomintated to a Parks and Wildlife position in Central Asia (countries that end in the letters "-stan" like Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazikstan (spelling)...) departing June 11, 2003. Cool huh?! I'd be helping them develop and manage parks (like state parks and national parks) and teach English to my counter parts. I'm so excited!!
Terry V. YAY for your son!!! My Mom was in the Corps, stationed in Lesotho, Southern Africa (she's 72) 'tis a good thing, the Peace Corps. ....But who is "stan", and why do so many countries' names end in it? Hope you're relaxing a bit this summer, and finding a way to counteract the humidity.
So while you sit at your computer lift your drink up for a toast too them all! whatever it may be... PEPSI :)
, Diet Coke...or stronger...add what you may ;)...what's your pleasure? Do tell.
jl,Amy is adorable!! Ter,that is soooo cool! Your son is my hero! Will you adopt me and raise me the right way?:)
KT,congrats on the new job! School pics? Right? Can you make sure my kids don't make those dorky faces?:)
Likin the summer just fine Me2....just so damn hot!!!! No air conditioning in 98 year old houses....apparently we missed that part of the tech era....ho hum jus sittin and sweatin!
I passed two more dances for ice dancing on friday in Rochester!! I'm a Silver level ice dancer, yup, yup, yup! Iam now considered a "high" level dancer! Not to bad for an ole lady! Sorry a little shameless praise for myself....I worked my ass off for this level and got six staples in my head to prove it!!
gonna be a short week here too. needless to say, i'm getting a nice early start to it tonite. yay me. gotta have some stuff done by the time the rest of the people get in tomorrow morning. depending on how late it is, i may not be in tomorrow morning. things like this have been known to keep me up till 3 or 4 in the morning. arrrrgh!!!
Terry- No date set yet. We've been trying to figure out where to have the wedding. Here or SD. Also trying to figure out how big the wedding can be, who to invite, etc. Not very easy when you live 5 hours apart. As of this point, we're leaning towards a very small ceremony with immediate family and grandparents. Most likely to be held at the Frog Pond, since it was where we were engaged and we'd like an outdoor wedding. The Twin Cities is better for having it, since my grandparents couldn't make it there, and hers would be flying in (easier flying in here than there). We're slowly getting things figured though!
How is it that between the computer and bed that so much craziness can occur? A couple of phone calls and what was supposed to be a goodnight's sleep will be shorter than good.
Ares - Don't stay up all night!
Kids - The good thing about the Frog Pond is if case of rain, there's always the conservatory and that's almost like being outdoors.
Ares, imagine if you had children and a wife to please on top of no sleep :)
WAY TO GO SCRIBE! Since it is morning I am raising my coffee!
Ian-your drink looks lonely :( but the ice-cubes looks very enticing in this heat :)
Terry- Beans (youngest daughter) and I are impressed with the Vanilla Coke too -look forward to the RaspberryPEPSI due out in the fall!
I will be out at the Mall of America staying cool today. & for those of you who know about Sarah-she is still sick 8 days now and back to the doctor thismorning-strep ruled out-havn't heard on the mono test yet :( --needless to say, I won't be in the cooler thisafternoon :(
Scribe- Way to go! I bet it feels great skating on the cold rink on hot summer days:)
Me2- I hope Sarahs feeling better!
We're up north for the 4th and through the weekend, trying to stay cool and getting things ready for visitors. Going to hang out in Duluth on the 4th, and watch the fireworks lakeside off hwy 61.
