1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

coaster32...no I am not friends with Rock. I have been comic relief in here for the past couple of days...everyone else in here is boring the hell out of

me so I am trying to have some fun...I am not trying to annoy anyone like Rock is doing...in fact last night I told him to meet me at Newell so I could

kick him in the nuts.

Conway Heights Park on the east side. It is between (WOOD ROW) Wilson and (away from the action?) Pacific, and Ruth and Mcknight.

muggs, merriam fits clue 6, I'm not that familiar with the park I'm thinking of trying it.

If the clues made me feel it was one park in particular I would say something about it...I just don't think these have been very helpfull clues. I had a theory last night

that the medallion is not even hidden yet...they don't want to lose all of the publicity this is generating yet so they will hide it tonite or tommorrow...someone will look

like they are a medallion hunter and they will actually be hiding it! Think about it....

Cold Feet, I think it might be worth a try....at least the weather is cooperating...makes the hunt easier....especially when i'm on my third park

I GOT IT...THE MEDALLION IS IN THE VATICAN!!! Think of the clue that says "$10000 could buy a lot of dope, so why not frisk the Pope, if you want the

whole shamatican, cop a feel in the vatican!"

damn it now i got to add conway heights to my list of parks. lets see we also got highland, marriam, newell, battle creek and linwood. god, these clues suck when

you can't narrow it down to less then 6 parks

these clues do suck and so does walking through all of this frozen snow on the ground. The people at treasure hunt central told me last year that they hide the

medallion as soon as we get the first snow, but I think they were giving me the run a round. Has anyone thought about looking at the first letters of the clues to see is

they spell something like they did that one year????

The medallion has been hidden. This happens every year. People get frustrated by the ambiguity and think it hasn't been hidden. Think about it, they could have

hidden it weeks ago and now it is under a foot of snow.

I think you may be right. My map said Conway Heights, but at the park itself I think it did just said Conway.

So far Merriam is the only park that fits ALL the clues. I just hope tonights clue pinpionts it a little better.

I have not yet checked the website at 11:30. Does it slow down? Would I be better off having my wife pick up the paper downtown and call me on my cell phone,

or just have her call me from home as soon as it is posted?

You know how everyone was talking about iconoclast as being the devil? Did anyone ever mention Vulcanis Rex (or however you spell his name)?

okay, I'll get gutsy.

My idea is that "a man of fame" who offers a name, and ...found in "many a tome" could be anagrams.

When I cross those two, the common letters are aaomemn, and the one I like most so far is "manomea".

Anything to anybody? I'm house-bound right now, or I'd be out there diggin.

Respond privately if you like, <asmando@writeme.com>

Spencer Dorn....the pioneer press and the winter carnival are getting a ton of publicity because of the $10000 reward for finding the medallion...they

would lose a lot more than $10000 if the medallion was found too early.

Well coasters32, you can shorten your list if you agree with me on this one point. If "trees is a line" can be translated to WOOD ROW, the only name you can really

get from that is Wilson, and the only park on Wilson is Conway. If you have a different interpretation then make sure you bundle up!

There's no reason to think they haven't hidden it yet. Even when the clues are at their most specific, they still leave around have an acre to search for something that is

six inches big if we're lucky (I'm talking about the container). The chances of someone finding it early are very slim because there's so much dumb luck involved in

just stumbling across the hiding site. I don't think they're worried, but they may have suggested to the Cluemaster to make the clues as vague as possible.
